  1. As a fan you never want to see your team schedule down a division or in this case two divisions, but Wisconsin-La Crosse is a good DIII team. In 2006 they beat a good 7-4 SDSU team. At least when UND is forced to schedule down in the transition they are scheduling good teams that can at least make a game of it.
  2. You can watch the Idaho State game on BigSkyTV.org on your computer. SE Louisana and So. Ill. may also offer internet options.
  3. Looks like a good first schedule. Next year it will be a lot easier when UND counts as a FCS game. Just a heads up, UC Davis fans hate to be called Cal Davis.
  4. USD does not have a very attractive home schedule, but their away schedule looks good. USD will travel to Northern Iowa, SE Louisiana, Montana State, Cal Poly and Southern Utah in 2008.
  5. Cal Poly home games: Montana University of South Dakota Southern Utah Idaho State UC Davis Signed but I am not sure who Cal Poly road games: San Diego State McNeese State Northwestern State South Dakota State University of Wisconsin Looking for a 12th game against a FCS team. Said they hope to firm up a 12th game and release the schedule in the next couple of weeks.
  6. Idaho State released their schedule. It looks like UND will play at Idaho State Thursday night Sept. 18th at 6:35 pm (MT). Link: http://isubengals.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl...otbl-sched.html
  7. Probably wont happen until 2009.
  8. To count as a D-I game for an FBS team a FCS team must have a 57 scholarship average over the last two years.
  9. I am going to an event tonight that both Cal Poly's head football coach and AD will be at. I will try to see if a UND/Cal Poly game next year is still a possibility. I am would really like to see that game happen in 2008.
  10. I hope to see both UND and USD on the schedule in 2008 and a 12 game schedule.
  11. UC Davis released their 2008 schedule. UND will play UC Davis Oct. 25th at 6:00 pm (PST). Link to UC Davis 2008 schedule: http://ucdavisaggies.cstv.com/sports/m-foo.../012208aaf.html
  12. It was e-mailed out to members of the UC Davis Grid Club yesterday and posted on the AggieSportsTalk message board. It should be release officially in the next week.

  14. I am not sure. The GWFC said they could not say because they did not want to hurt the teams relationships with their current conferences. Some have speculated that Sac State could join the GWFC and the Big West, but I think that Sac State is shooting for a move to the WAC somewhere down the road. They could save a ton on travel for their non revenue sports in the Big West (all California conference and all trips are bus trips) and they would be in the same conference as to of their rivals, UC Davis and Cal Poly. I have also heard rumors that the University of the Pacific (Big West member located in Stockton) was considering bringing back football at the FCS level. They had a I-A program and dropped football. They have a 30,000 seat on campus stadium so start up cost would not be too bad. There is also a push at Cal State Fullerton (also a Big West member who had dropped football) to bring back football. They also have a nice on campus stadium and would be a natural fit in the GWFC. The last rumor that I have heard is that Eastern Washington wants to join the West Coast Conference (it the conference that Gonzaga is in and a natural rival for EWU). The West Coast Conference is a better basketball conference than the Big Sky and also sponsors baseball and softball. The West Coast Conference does not sponsor football so they would be a canidate for the GWFC. The thing with the West Coast Conference is it is made up of all private schools and they may not want a state school to join. The University of San Diego would be my first choice. They have a good program and would just need to add scholarships. San Diego is a great city and I would love to travel there every other year to watch a game.
  15. In 2008 it looks more like a scheduling allliance seeing that UND may not play Cal Poly and USD will not play UC Davis. In 2009 it will be a conference when all teams will play each other. The players get to play for a championship, All-Conference teams, player of the week ect.... This is important for both UND and USD because they can not make the playoffs for a few years. I am hoping that a few more teams will join the GWFC in the next few years. The other USD, the University of San Diego, is a leading canidate to join and there has been two other teams that have inquired. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
  16. Sounds like UND and Cal Poly will have to wait until 2009 to play. Link: http://www.championshipsubdivisionnews.com/?cat=41 Quote: UND is expected to play a 12 game schedule in 2008, three of them expected against Great West opponents UC Davis, Southern Utah and South Dakota. I was looking forward to playing UND next season. I hope they can get it worked out.
  17. Thanks for the run down. Cal Poly returns 10 starters on offense (LG graduated) and 7/8 starters on defense. I have a run down of each player at that I think will start on the thread at anygivensaturday.com.
  18. Who do you think will be the starters in 2008 for UND? I started a thread at AnyGivenSaturday.com about GWFC team's projected starters for 2008. Come on over and see what other GWFC teams will look like in 2008 and/or take a shot at who you think will be UND's starters in 2008. Lennon gone

Had EWU been able to pay more they would of hired former player and Fresno State Offensive Coordinator Jim McElwain who was the first choice. $100k will be a pay raise for Baldwin, but would have been a pay cut for McElwain. EWU has one of the smallest budget in the Big Sky.

    new coach?

Just because they did not open it up officially to outside canidates, I am sure they had coaches who were interested inquire about the job so they had a good idea who was out there. I think that in Mussman they saw a rising star who was ready for the next step. I think he is a great hire and he is hitting the ground running.

Congrats on the hire. I think Mussman will do great and will hit the ground running.

    new coach?

The 34 is a great defense if you have a great nose gaurd. It all starts there. Cal Poly runs with three d-linemen a lot, and with the exception of last year (they were very young with 6 new starters and they also lost their stud NG in the first game) they are usually one of the top defenses in the FCS/I-AA. I am hoping to hear that UND has hired a coach by the end of the week so they do not lose any momentum in recruiting. Good luck. I am pulling for Mussman. He seems to be a coach that can continue the momentum that Lennon has started.
