  1. I provided direct links to the posts you wrote. I don't know how to be any more "in context" than that.
  2. Okay. I'll draw you a picture. In this post, you admit that you and Bison Dan have posted smack talk, but you point out that three other Sioux fans have done the same thing in the thread. You don't mention the fact that they wouldn't have posted what they did and you wouldn't have posted what you if Bison Dan, the person who provoked the smack, hadn't posted what he did. In this post you claim that there's a "smack double standard." In this post, CoteauRinkRat correctly notes that the person responsible for initiating the smack was Bison Dan. You respond in this post by implying that Sioux fans bear equal responsiblity for the smack talk because they repsonded to Bison Dan's provocation. You offer the lame excuse that you and Bison Dan just couldn't help yourselves because the topic of when UND football season tickets would be available was such a big, inviting target. That's hypocritical. It's like saying that when a person opens fire on a group of people minding their own business, there's a double standard when some in the crowd return fire in response. In other words, it's okay for Bison fans get to take potshots at Sioux fans, but Sioux fans who respond in kind are engaging in a "double standard."
  3. Go back and read your posts in this thread.
  4. No, it's not a double standard. It's you being hypocritical by claiming that it's perfectly fine for Bison fans to post unprovoked smack talk and then claim a "double standard" when Sioux fans to respond to it.
  5. I'm sorry. I keep forgetting how much you enjoy playing semantics games. Allow me to rephrase. Bison Dan's post added nothing to the topic being discussed because he had no knowledge that would enable him to answer the question asked. Rather than staying out of the discussion because he had nothing of substance to offer, he chose instead to post something useless that was clearly intended to provoke Sioux fans. Exactly what type of response from Sioux fans did you expect to get with that comment which, like Bison Dan's, did nothing to help answer the question and was posted to further provoke Sioux fans?
  6. Bison Dan's comment had nothing to do with what was being discussed, and neither did yours. Just because you both succeeded in provoking Sioux fans doesn't absolve either of you from engaging in and encouraging smack talk.
  7. Whereas you have yet to learn how to punctuate.
  8. I beg to differ.
  9. Not being a chess player, a chess follower or author of a paper about a chess player, no.
  10. Missed it by this much...

  13. I could have predicted this.
  14. What's it tell you when redwing77 is the only person honored to be on your list?
  15. WDAZ has a story about Commodore bringing the cup to Grand Forks here.
  16. Here are some photos the MikeyPete e-mailed me of Mike Commodore arriving in Grand Forks with the Stanley Cup.
  17. Snow in late October is not unusual, but my unscientific guess is that early November is when most parts of the state get snow. The earliest I've ever seen snow was Sept. 21. The latest I've ever seen snow was mid-May. The only two months in which snow has never been recorded in North Dakota are July and August.
  18. I agree that Briggs wasn't the reason Minnesota lost in overtime. The game-winner was a rather strange goal which became possible because of half-hearted backchecking by the Gopher forwards. However, you can't absolve completely Briggs of any blame for the loss. He did give up on the Crusaders' third goal that sent the game into overtime.
  19. How good is Philippe Lamoureux? In UND career stats, he's currently third (behind Parise and Goehring) in goals against average at 2.36 and third (behind Parise and Goehring) in save percentage at .913. So why doesn't he have more wins? Because the games in which he's played during his career, the Sioux have averaged 2.45 goals per game. For whatever reason, throughout Lamoureux's first two seasons, the problem hasn't been with him playing poorly or giving up bad goals. It's been with a lack of scoring when he's been in net. If Lamoureux can keep his save percentage and goals against average near where they're at now, he and the team will do well as long as the offense is there.
  20. Went right over your head, didn't it?
  21. Showalter: I'm not going to debate you Jerry. Jerry: Okay. Showalter: I'm not going to sit here and debate.
  22. The offense, as I understand it, was in tying the word "savages" to American Indians. However, I was quite disappointed that SEOSU didn't throw a monkey wrench into the NCAA machine by dropping the Native American imagery and keeping the name Savages. That way, SEOSU could have argued that it was following Merrimack's example when it retained the Warriors nickname and disassociated it from Native American imagery. Savages, like warriors, come in all races, nationalities and ethnicities. Bradley University was allowed to maintain its Braves nickname by disassociating it from Native American imagery. The NCAA said William and Mary could remain The Tribe and Illinois could remain the Fighting Illini as long as they both disassociated themselves from Indian imagery. SEOSU should have kept its name and changed its logo.
  23. My critique of your critique: Politically correct: "Savage Storm" in the heart of "tornado alley"? This could be a problem the next time there's an outbreak of killer tornados in Oklahoma, which is only a matter of time. Meaningless symbol sure to offend no one: Did you forget this AP story from back in January? Pointless name such as Sun, Fever, Shock, Heat, Miracle, or Magic: True, but when you combine the pointless name with a previously used racist word such as "savage," someone's bound to be offended. Overall grade: C
  24. Here's a story from the Edmonton Sun about Mike Commodore and Ray Whitney bringing the cup to their hometown of Fort Saskatchewan.
  25. This scene from "The Jerk" helps put the excitement of Bison fans into perspective:
