Contractors had their insurance policies and permits in hand. Because of the state shutdown, the work has been delayed one year. Phase one consists of the exterior work. Phase two will be the addition of suites and the north end seating. When completed in 2013, the building will have 20-30 luxury suites and additional seats. The entrance, ticketing, administration, pro shop, concourse, restroom and concession areas will be upgraded. As a SCSU fan, I don't want to see the Huskies in the NCHC. I think Bowling Green would be nice for you people because it gives Miami a rival that's only 3hours away. Much nicer than their 11 hour trip to Omaha.

I thought the decision was based on increasing revenues. Or was the goal to f-over certain members of the WCHA.

I heard this info before it hit the message boards. But it's still just a rumor and IMHO it's untrue.

UND fans travel the best, but they are far from being the most cordial to visiting fans. Your problem is that your "bad fans" are REALLY bad. And get over the 20 protestors that would come protest UND's nickname.

Now I know what you're talking about with the "points". Yes, I accept your apology I've discussed this issue with many SCSU fans, and not one of them feel that UND should be forced to change their nickname. In fact, I've never heard anybody (SCSU fan or not) say they were in agreement with the NCAA on this issue.

I don't know the connection between SCSU and UND's war with the NCAA over the Sioux nickname. I know a past president issued a position on the issue. No offense, but I think you're looking for a scapegoat. What's a "negative mark"?

All MNSCU schools are having money problems.

Nobody from the remaining WCHA schools were aware of the new "super" conference. I hope most SCSU fans know that President Potter's statement was nothing more than sour grapes. Steve Cobb from UNA said, "I don't think anybody saw this coming." "At our meeting in April we voted to extend an invitation to Miami and Notre Dame," Cobb said, referring to a pair of CCHA teams. "That passed with 100 percent of the vote. Nobody said they were unhappy. We left the April meeting and basically some of them contacted Notre Dame and Miami and said, 'Don't take the WCHA invitation, we're going to invite you to join our super league.' First of all, I completely agree that the NCAA should stick to sites that will support NCAA hockey like the X and the Ralph. Regional attendance is an embarrassment to the sport of hockey. What's even more of an embarrassment is that SCSU and Wiscy punt under 8k in the X for the region final. I believe UMD and (?) had the same size crowd at Mariucci the year before. That being said, UND fans are in a hockey bubble. You have arguably the best program and fan support in all of college hockey. Yet some of you constantly try to compare fan support and the quality of other programs to yourself. FYI, there is no comparison. Do other programs strive to have what UND has up in Grand Forks? Yes they do. But with less resources and less loyal fans. The "UND's" are few and far between. Please don't take offense, because I enjoy this message board and have allot of respect for UND hockey. <img>

John Mariucci was actually the one who got the ball rolling at the university and the legislature. He begged a very reluctant Herbie to take the job.

Excellent post! Without John Mariucci, SCSU hockey wouldn't exist. He knew the sport had to grow for the sake of all NCAA hockey programs. And it needs to grow more!

Compared to some arenas it's a crap hole and it's extremely uncomfortable. Renovations will begin after this season.

I believe our athletic department has become a very expensive social club. I sincerely hope the president cleans house at Halenbeck Hall!
