  1. It will be interesting to see how the fans at Montana handle this new football conference as it starts to come of age. Montana is used to being the only dominant force in the West, but I think that will change.
  2. OK....I give up. Who in the Heck were Bohl and Taylor paired with (at the Maris golf tourney)? Being so far from the valley I miss a few of these interesting little items. What is the story here?
  3. Glad to here you are building D1 facilities. I am not sure why you need them for a D2 team. Maybe UND is finally figuring out that NDSU is moving in the right direction.
  4. I don't think any of the Bison faithful or the administration at NDSU thought the move to D1 was going to be a cake walk. I think things are going about as well as one could expect. the move to D1 is really a vision for the future. We see a bright future for athletics at NDSU. A future that will put us much more in the national spotlight and clearly heightens the visibility of the school. A few bumps along the way are to be expected. I am looking 7 to 10 years out. I think that Kolpack is not at all accurate by saying "Status Low". I think it should be "Business as Expected".
  5. It looks as if NDSU is going to give the Mid-Con a serious look. I am not happy with this option as I think the Mid-Con is really a second rate conference. This was in the 6-18 Fargo Forum. NDSU targets Mid-Continent head By Jeff Kolpack The Forum - 06/18/2003 North Dakota State athletic director Gene Taylor has never met Ron Bertovich, the new commissioner of the Mid-Continent Conference. That could change. Bertovich was hired Tuesday by the Presidents Council of the nine-team league. If expansion is a league priority, then it appears NDSU may try to get noticed.
  6. There is an interesting thread going on at D2football.com discussion the best conference in D2 football. Many are saying that the top three are: 1. NCC 2. MIAA 3. GSC So far no UND folks have registered an opinion on this one. What do you think? I think that there are a lot of questions as to how good the NCC will be this year for several reasons. 1) Powerhouse UNC is gone. 2) NDSU and UND are coming off of poor seasons....in the case of NDSU it is a historically terrible season. 3) How much will the JUCO transfers help NDSU regain its game. 4) What adjustments has UND made to get back in the game. I think that there are just too many wild cards out to say the NCC is top. The potential may be there to dominate, but there is also the chance of another mediocre year. Next year with NDSU (and possibly SDSU) following UNC out of the NCC the quality further diminishes in the NCC and it really becomes a question of how tough UND and UNO are when compared to the other conferences. While I am excited about NDSU's move up......it is with very mixed emotions as I watch the changes in the NCC.
  7. He still had a damn odd fetish for all things Nazi....so I would be pretty unconvinced that he did not have such leanings. Why on earth would he find that stuff so enchanting? I find it twisted and a bit perverse. Ralph is no role model for anyone....and he is an embarassment for the State of North Dakota.

    The Rivalry

Jim....there is no poll. Who cares about it to that extent....not me. It is just one of those things in life that is not that important. Like I said, it is based on what I experienced. I guess this one will just have to end on you think I am full of it and I think you are....and so goes the rivalry....

    The Rivalry

Face it, most of you have never lived for an extended period out east....I have. What I am relaying to you is what I experienced out there. I could really care less what Jim et. al. chose to believe, but what I have said is the perception out there. Out here in Wyoming clearly North Dakota State is much more recognized than is UND. No one out here follows hockey. Which I actually find strange considering our proximity to Denver. When you go over to Utah and Nevada the obscurity of the UND Hockey program is again echoed. The popularity of NCAA hockey is very much confined to North Dakota, MN, Wisconisin and pockets in the North East. To think that people in South Carolina, as Jim asserted, would be more familiar with UND hockey than NDSU football is bordering on absurd. Clemson Tiger fans could care less about anything other than Fooball and Basketball.

    The Rivalry

Quite honestly......having lived on the East Coast for some time I found that NDSU and the quality of the Football program was much better known than UND. Few people out there take much of an interest in Hockey of any sort. I went to many college games at Clemson and not a soul there could tell you what schools had a D1 hockey program (nor could they tell you who played womens' Lacrosse either). But most of them could tell you that NDSU was a dominant force in small college football.
  11. It would be hard to imagine UNC being able to raise that kind of funding, but if there is Coors money involved who knows. I know that the D1 move will be a challenge to NDSU and I would think we have much more potential to fundraise than does UNC.
  12. Obviously the weapons of mass destruction would be hidden in the hockey arena......as that is the building funded by the notorious Ralph Englestad.....I suspect that it would be reasonable to allow an inspection team from the soon to be ineffective NCC in to conduct a search. Barring that I am sure that the NDSU Bison will have to coome up there and take over...... maybe even install a new regime. The UND Information Minister (Shoutin' Ed) would however deny all this.........
  13. Good one Bison Kent........I knew there was a terrorist link to UND......
  14. Sicatoka...thought it was great humor......I like McFeely.
  15. I do think the writer in the Spectrum was right on target. Did the Sioux hockey team prove to be a disappointment to thier fans this year?? Yes...it is obvious that they did based on the flaming going on by the fans on this board. There is no way that the Sioux lived up to what most fans thought they should do this year. Folks....any way you call it.....it is disappointment. Will UND return to a more dominant position in the national picture? Of course they will, UND has been at it too long to tolerate marginal performance by thier hockey team. Just like NDSU won't tolerate seasons like last year from the football team. Both are obvious by the heat on this and the other boards......and that is a good thing for NCAA athletics in the State of North Dakota.....
  16. Truthfully, I don't care about hockey....it is a second tier sport kind of like Women's Lacross....As for me....I am more into D1 Football and Basketball.
  17. Yes.....if I were the Sioux faithful I wouldn't respond to it either.....Man the truth hurts.......
  18. Actually, Wyoming has done quite well recruiting in Colorado in the past. Colorado produces some very good players. By sheer numbers of people is beats North Dakota as a recruiting grounds.
  19. I know that......but I had to place Shoutin' Eddie at the Rulph or I couldn't get my dig in at Rulph Shenglstud......I am sure all you understand that.....I guess it is the liberty that a Hollywood screenwriter can take with things........Geez....the movie is never exactly like the book...
  20. OK......I have wasted enough time at work someone else can write the next episode................
  21. On the next Animal Precinct on Animal Planet........Officers Larousa and Delaponsa are dispatched to Grand Forks North Dakota when a request for special animal investigators comes from the Siouxville Campus Police (OK....you wanted keystone cops and I think either Siouxville or Bisonvilla Campus Cops fit the bill very well). While on a dangerous patrol writing parking tickets to students that have no money, Siouxville's finest stumbled upon an illicit dog obedience and torture camp hidden in the bowels of the "Rulph"....a symbol of facism and tyranny and obedience to money on the Siouxville campus. Siouxville's finest heard many horrid dog sounds coming from the bowels of the Rulph and upon further investigation found several canines in a torture chamber along with a mirror and hairbrush containing red hair. After sending the hair for DNA sampling to Bisonvilla (Bisonvilla of course has the sophisticated people and lab equipment for this analysis) it was determined that the hair matched that of none other than "Shoutin' Eddie Schmaltz", a known canine abuser. Upon realizing that Shoutin' Eddie was involved in this the Siouxville finest were terrified. Were they to challenge Shoutin' Eddie and bring him in they knew that he would attempt a murderous assult on them in the media, for Shoutin' Eddie was a major mouthpiece for Siouxville. What a quandry. Finally the decision was made to contact the New York ASPCA and see if they could get a couple of thier officers assigned to help in this horrific case. That way the heat would be off the Siouxville's finest. STAY TUNED FOR the next episode where we find out if the Rulph was secrectly designed for animal torture by former and late Vegas strongman Rulph Shenglstud. What will happen as our heros officers Larousa and Delaponsa make the journey to Siouxville to unravel this case. What will Shoutin' Eddie Schmaltz shout next.......Stay tuned friends.........
  22. Don't try to tell the Montana fans on egriz.com that the NCC is not far behind the BSC....they will have a fit. (although I thing that the Giz would have thier hands full playing football or basketball in the NCC).
  23. Yes, you are right about who is D2 and who is D1AA on the UNC sched. I am very surprised by this. My understanding is that they have to be playing a "D1AA" sched. next year. Right now it looks to me that UNC played a tougher schedule last year than this years will be.
  24. Holy SH*T....star2city must have a damn good job that affords him the time to be a part time screen writer for FOX.....What is the next pilot on the drawing board?......my guess is it must be something along the lines of "Geriatric Masturbating for Dollars".... ;)
  25. I would suspect that after this year UNC and Cal Davis will probably be regulars on the NDSU sched. as each school looks for D1AA competition. It will be interesting to see who new will appear on the NDSU schedule. I would guess that the worse NDSU is the easier it will be to get games. If the Bison happen to get a real tough team early on it would not help the scheduling out at all.
