While I'm sure RR represented themselves well, you are overestimating Roseau. They will need an upset to even make it to the state tournament.
-
There are no Bison faithful that know what Bohl would do if offered the position, despite what many say.
-
You listed two reasons why the comparison didn't make sense to you: first was distance to NDSU, second was that they hadn't been in the same conference for more than 5 years. I made my point about distance, and about your five year rule...how many games did NDSU schedule UNI in anything in the 5 years after the panters left the NCC? The fact that you are making several arguments about why the Bison didn't play UNI, and not one of them is about how the schools feel about the other (good/bad/indifferent) makes my point.

I just watched the WDAY sports tonight, and I'll be buggered if they didn't change their minds on the dome addition being basketball only. I have been convinced that NDSU will not have hockey based on the history of this topic from NDSU admin and most recently from Walaker that the dome addition would absolutely not have ice. But the dome authority seems to have changed its mind. Is it just coincidince that all this Blaise/NDSU/CHA hockey talk comes up, and now the dome authority changes its mind on the addition? I'm not sure what to think...but I won't believe anything until I hear an announcement from Chapman or Taylor. Or...God help me...Blaise.

Land cow? As opposed to... ocean cow?

Fargodome to Cedar Falls, IA-452.59 mi. Nemzek Hall to Cedar Falls, IA-447.70 mi. My bad, proximity makes all the difference. Or maybe Katie Wilson and President Dille were just better friends with the UNI athletic admin...or maybe the simple answer that has nothing to do with the relationship between the two schools...they wanted to bring in a nonconference patsy willing to take a big payout to take a beating.

The number of reasons why a school can or cannot schedule another school in any given year is far too long and complex to conclude, without a quote from the parties involved, that they are, or are not, on good or bad terms. If that is the standard for such a conclusion, then the number of schools which NDSU is not on good terms with is too long to count. How many NCC schools scheduled NDSU after they left? Are they all on bad terms? I should think very nearly all of the AD's or Presidents of NCC schools would consider themselves on good terms with their colleagues at NDSU, if they were asked such question. Further, since NDSU has never been on Northern Iowa's schedule since they left the NCC, yet the panthers hosted Moorhead State in 1993, were they on bad terms with all the AD's at NDSU since their NCC departure, and on good terms with the MSU administration? Of course not. Does Montana State buying out next year's game now mean they are on bad terms with the NDSU administration? Of course not. Those decisions are far too complex for such simplistic, and quite frankly, juvinile, reasons.

Experience has taught me if it involves hockey, it doesn't involve NDSU. The two have become mutually exclusive entities.
-
That is an extraordinarily weak gauge of if any school is on "good terms" with another.

Of course Frank and Doug are delivering U propaganda. Do PA, Senser, Hammer, or Hennessy not root vociferously for the teams they cover? The days of broadcasters being neutral are long gone. That doesn't even bother me anymore. In fact, I'm more surprised when announcers are particularly critical of the home team, as they usually end up with a reprimand if it happens too much. As to missing players, we are finding out this season that simply having talent on the roster assures us of nothing, least of all winning 3/4 of our games.

As Steve Martin used to say...WELL EXCUUUSE...MEEEEEEEE!!!! I'll revise my statement and keep the sentiment. Roger Thomas became commission in Jan of 2005, but my point is the same. With the UND AD and President opposing a move (those views are well documented in many media sources), it's difficult to see how the entire league would have favored a move up, either before Roger Thomas became the commissioner or after. My initial post lacked the emotion which I think is necessary for a rant, but this one deserves that label, Sicatoka.

Even speculating now is pointless because the available teams will likely be differernt if/when the SU's leave.
-
I always love that one.
-
Even if things go south for the Great West if the SU's leave for the Gateway, why can't a UND/USD combination find similar success in forging their own conference ties for independents like the SU's were able to? Don't forget, the Great West didn't exist prior to the SU's move up. The Great West has served the purpose it was supposed to. I think the U's will be able to do the same until they find a more permanent home.
-
Support for such a move would also have been necessary from the NCC commish in order to be persuasive with the league presidents. Anyone recall Roger Thomas' thoughts on moving to I-AA? I'm not sure he was selling the league presidents on that idea when the SU's were leaving.
-
I do think he is a good guy to have on your team, but I don't think he's worth a full scholarship on a I-AA team right out of high school. D-2, sure give him a ride, but for higher than that he's not a 25 carry/game running back, and he doesn't have Dressler speed. Offer him a partial or sell him on the opportunity to walk on and earn a spot on the field, then the full ride. I too, have seen him on TV, live, and live on the basketball court, and there is no way on God's green earth he is either 5'10 nor 195. If you put him on the rack he may reach 5'9, and he's 180 dripping wet. There's nothing wrong with being undersized if you have Dressler type speed, but he doesn't. I suppose that's why the AG school refused to let him play offense.
-
An uninformed cheap shot...shocking.
-
My God I'd forgotten all about that. I can flip on ABC and watch friggin bison basketball, but we have to get a mass comm degree with a focus in satellite technonlogy to watch the hockey game, in our home city. Pathetic.
-
Just because they didn't win a national title doesn't equate to "haven't done anything". The NDSU FB teams with Lamar Gordon never won a conference title, let alone an appearance in the championship game, would you say those teams "haven't done anything"?
-
UND is also 12-0 vs NDSU in games played on odd dates during the winter solstice but before the spring equinox when coach ruley is not in her menstual cycle. Don't you just love cherry picking the stats?
-
I'm so fed up with the lack of TV support for road games from the GF media I could puke. Not just hockey either.

Roseau tournament: Class AA #4 Roseau def Grand Forks Central 7-0. Man did I overestimate Central. What happened to Central this year? Did kids on the north side choose basketball in this class?
-
Rochester tournament: Unranked class A Rochester Century def Fargo South 3-2.
