  1. Wasn't beating EWU, MSU, and UM supposed to do that?* *do not interpret this question to mean I am against playing ndsu.

We will see closer games this year simply by reducing unforced errors. With the team's youth and inexperience we still see more than we want of these, but it won't be as bad as last year.

  4. Is it ok if I post in both places? Let me know what you decide
  5. I think I saw something about that in the SJSU thread.
  6. Stop with that. Only at UND does the input of others trump the AD.
  7. You make a good point. When BSC membership was secured there was much agreement that the top teams in the conference is where the bar was set. Boy have times changed when there is so much riding on getting the game scheduled that you'd accept these terms. Although Bubba being a MVFC and NSIC guy, I get it.
  8. Poster of Muss? How can you possibly read my posts regarding this deal (or those from the last few football seasons) and think I've been one of those that prefers to blindly follow leadership toward he cliff, all the while suppressing dissent in the name of "supporting the program"?
  9. Straw man argument Two in a row alone, nor it's impact on interstellar relations isn't the issue. No home game is the issue (among others). Even a two for one would have been an improvement. Pretty sure the conference scheduling ensured a future home game. Which happens first: the next President of the United States is in his second term or a football team from the ac sets foot in Grand Forks?
  10. Indeed. He received input from many sources. But BF does the hiring, the firing, and signs the deal. That's where the buck stops.
  11. His name on the contract is fairly compelling. At worst, it meets the "no facts whatsoever" standard.
  12. That statement based in absolutely no facts whatsoever. Simply because we want something to be true, and saying it publicly, does not make it so.
  13. You and I have made some hefty predections-here's hoping Iowa State doesn't play us for fools!

I expect this to be a close game, but if things go bad I'm not gonna get upset. This is a new team and staff. They have a clean slate.
  15. Again, you are verifying the point which angers many here-this was a stand alone take it or leave it deal-not a series. Unless there are "series" played in college athletics which entail one team playing on the road, there is no "series" to cancel here. That's the point.
  16. I don't think any reasonable person would have construed the quote to mean permanently. You've confirmed what many of us were upset about: there were none and are no discussions of a home game for UND with this deal. Not even an informal one. I will say that under normal circumstances I wouldn't like to give up so much in negotiations based on the hope that a future AD will treat you more equitably, but given how these "negotiations" (i hesitate to call them that since it resembles little more than a hammer and nail) went with GT, an as of yet unnamed AD could hardly treat you worse.

    BWW usually does.
  18. Simply because you and I believe it unlikely does not mean you allow them a lower buyout. edit: Especially when they were bluffing their hand the entire time. “There weren’t a lot of options out there for us for 2015. This helps us fill 2015. Scheduling out is a two-year out, minimum, process. This process needed finality.” Jorgenson said there was urgency to get it done before the season started. “We didn’t want it to be a distraction,” he said. “We wanted finality this week — 2015 was becoming a serious situation. Scheduling is filling up faster and faster now.” Can anybody set up a poker game with BF?
  19. There were other quotes I heard during radio interviews, but this pretty much sums up their attitude. http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/college-football-return-rivalry-doesnt-seem-excite-ndsu “We didn’t feel any pressure to schedule this game,” said Jeremy Jorgenson, NDSU’s director of broadcasting. “It helps us fill 2015. It helps us get a start on 2019. That’s the way we’re looking at it. It’s a good business decision for the athletic department. I wouldn’t look into it further than that. “There weren’t a lot of options out there for us for 2015. This helps us fill 2015. Scheduling out is a two-year out, minimum, process. This process needed finality.” Both contests — Sept. 19, 2015, and Sept. 7, 2019 — will be played in the Fargodome, ending a 12-year hiatus of the rivalry. Jorgenson said that potential games in Grand Forks are “off the table.”
  20. We could spend all day here crowdsourcing the possibilities as to why they would do that. You well know the buyout is an insurance policy in the event they do exercise one of those options. We don't look at it and say, "well, based on what we know today they are unlikely to buy it out, so we don't really need the buyout to be higher." Or at least I wouldn't, apparently BF does.
  21. From InForum: "NDSU will provide UND with cash guarantees of $125,000 for the first game and $140,000 for the second. A buyout would cost UND $250,000 for each game. It would cost NDSU the amount of the guarantees." So not only is UND on the road for two games with absolutely no assurances (verbal, gentleman's agreement, or scribbled promise on a bar napkin) a 3rd game in Grand Forks will take place, but THE BUYOUT IS MORE EXPENSIVE FOR UND THAN NDSU!! I've seen tougher negotiating from my kids swapping candy on Halloween. As if the two road games weren't bad enough, it seems CAS was 100% correct when he came here spouting off before the details were made public which means ndsu officials were sharing the details of this deal with boosters like CAS, probably having a very good laugh and I don't blame them.
  22. There is no 3rd game. Not even a discussion of one. That's been confirmed by everyone involved. Another reason why this deal is horrible.
  23. Bottom line-you seem ready to give next year's team a "solid chance" to go to Fargo and win next year. Based on what I have seen up until today, I would put that more like a "slim chance". That's where we disagree. edit: but we agree on a helluvalot more than we disagree, so let's leave it there.
  24. Fully agree with you. However, don't mistake "passionate support" with blindly following. When I disagree, which hasn't been often, I am gonna say it. Perhaps if fewer people blindly followed Muss off the cliff the task would be less daunting today. There were people that felt Muss was the wrong choice, and made wrong decisions at many points in time but chose the "passionate support" route rather than speaking publicly. I disagree with this deal and I am speaking up. I will support Bubba and the team. I don't support this deal.
  25. It's called they guys we have seen play have stunk out the joint. The ones we haven't seen play, haven't played.
