Neither of those statements make any difference. This bill is worth-less. The language in the bill has a fatal conflict with the North Dakota State Constitution, which gives the SBHE full control and authority orver the states colleges and universities. I guess this joke of a republican legislature doesn't care about the constitution. Typical big government imposing its will on a lessor entity. Oh wait, isn't that what the tea-baggers always say. Hypocrites.

They don't want to ban alcohol at sporting events because they "didn’t feel the Legislature needed to get involved in issues that the universities seem able to handle on their own." Yet they feel just fine advancing though committee a bill to limit a universities power to retire its own nickname. Who voted for these gut-less pukes.

Yeah, I was at that game. It was raining so hard outside that some of the concourse started to flood. You couldn't see the puck because of the fog. I was so mad when they called the game. I remember that we almost scored right before the second intermission, which would have given us the win instead of the tie.

Except the REA doesn't just host Men's Hockey. It's no secret why the REA bid to host the Women's Frozen Four was declined. In 2 years, don't you think the Men's and Women's B-ball teams or the Women's Volley-ball team would like the chance to host a post-season game? Take off the hockey blinders, it's over! I'm sure that 20-30 years of lost post-season revenue would be enough to cover the cost of removing those "precious" logos.

What's funny is the way the 4 year old is acting is the same way that most posters on this board have been acting. Throwing a temper tantrum and crying in the corner when you don't get your way. I don't know about that. I think it's time that UND went out and hired a professional play-by-play announcer with some hockey knowledge. Sweeney has over stayed his welcome. When FSSN was new, the idea was "hey, let's bring that guy over from WDAZ to do play-by-play, I'm sure he'll be cheap, and only people in Grand Forks and Fargo are watching anyway". Now that we have a national broadcast, it's embarrassing when Sweeney spends half the time talking about unrelated things, and freaks out and raises his voice three octaves when the most minor thing is happening on the ice. "Sioux player coming down the ice!, and, OH MY!, he dumps the puck into the zone!!!!!". Scanlan can stay, Sweeney needs to go.

When so many people on this board feel that open gay bashing is acceptable, I guess it's time that I said my peace. Please try to remember that even of you don't agree with the gay lifestyle, that gives you no right to openly disparage that group of people. Some of the things that have been said today by my fellow Sioux fans make me want to throw up. The University of North Dakota teaches tolerance, respect, and understanding of those different than us and I hope that some on this board would get that message. It's a wonder that UND has ever had any image problems with the class that has been shown here today. There will come a day when bigots are held accountable for their words and actions. I only hope that intolerance doesn't breed intolerance and that the hatred will eventually stop.

This is exactly the point I am trying to get across. You think that "gay" is the same thing as "stupid and childish". This is homophobia and is a real problem on this board. Try finding a different word or just use the words "stupid and childish" if that's what you meant.

You are incorrect. If someone referred to a class that was boring, taught him/her nothing, and was a waste of time as "gay" they would also be inferring that someone who is gay is also boring, teaches nothing, and is a waste of time. I agree that context is very important, and you are not understanding the context of that statement. No one would believe that the boring class is in love with another boring class. The fact is that people do use the word to describe things that they don't like, as referenced in my previous post, and that it would be just as easy to find another word to use.

The fact that the word "gay" is used as an insult is revolting enough. Instead of respecting a group of people that make up 10% of our society, you instead take the word that describes them and use it to put down other people. What if I took a word that describes you, maybe "White" or "Midwestern" or "German" or "Norwegian" or what ever you happen to be, and used it as an insult. And don't give me this crap about the word "gay" being used to mean anything. The way that people nowadays use it is to denigrate and humiliate someone all while hiding their homophobia and bigotry. It's just as easy to find another word to use instead of using the word "gay" to slander someone. And those who respond by calling me "gay" only serve to prove my point.

The way some people talk on this board is absolutely disgusting. Calling things "gay" because you don't like them, and using words like "gayfer" is so juvenile and homophobic. Some Sioux fans actually respect different types of people enough to find other words to use that are not so blatantly bigoted.
