  1. "TH: I say that he got unlucky because many people have been in the same situation Matt was and didn't got caught."

Darn the luck, he got arrested for DUI.

Of course, it's pretty darn lucky that the hefty two-game suspension comes Bemidji week and not Denver week.

  2. I was wondering why you sound so bitter and then I remembered, your team got swept at home by the last place Huskies last weekend - now it makes sense! :D

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oh no, they dropped from 2 to 3 in the Pairwise. If they drop 11 more spots, UND will pass them. Maybe someone could start another thread about karma. The two last week were entertaining.

  3. Maybe it's time to put a lock on this topic as it has, in my opinion, already  been beaten to death,  has no practical value for the purpose of this board -- which as I understand is to discuss the hockey team, the hockey season, hockey in general, and the great state of hockey at the UND --and has the potential to go on forever with sad sad stories of our own experiences and close calls, the tragedies that abound, and the legal wranglings that now will surround.

Here's an idea....don't click on the thread. Problem solved.

  4. To all the Sioux fans who love nothing more than watching those maroon and gold vermin suffer, Fox Sports Net has the prescription for you (and it's not "more cowbell").

For those of you who haven't heard, FSN is replaying classic North Star, Wild, and Gopher games to help ease the pain of hockey fans suffering from withdrawl.  On Tuesday, January 25, FSN will show a game from the 1998 WCHA Playoffs.  In this game the Gophers are humbled by the mighty Bulldogs (I know, but it's the only Goofer loss they dared to show, so you know it's gotta be a classic)!!

I am definitely setting my VCR for this one!!

I'm sure all the Gopher fans on here know which game it is......a certain dramatic 3rd period comeback in the deciding game of the 1st round series that sent the Gophers players down I-35 with a bad taste in their mouths?  :0

Watch it, tape it, love it.  Or if you're a Gopher fan...skip it (they still have plenty Gopher victories to show yet).

Just giving you all the heads up!  :D

If Minnesota wins that game against UMD and advances to the Final Five, does Woog get fired and Lucia get hired after the following season? Not so sure.

  5. Skippy you left out Lucy's comments about Hags and his injury as it pertained to WJR

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

From the strib: Hagemo's injury is tied to a neck injury he suffered Oct. 29 that kept him out of three games. "He was in good shape until he went to the World Junior Championship," coach Don Lucia said, "when he played a lot of games in a short period. We can't have this be an ongoing issue. We have to get him to where he isn't in pain at the end of a game."

And that is an excuse for the CC sweep how?

  6. Gotta love the ripping on Donnie "Crap-Sack" Lucifer by Tim! :glare:

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Woog had at last one player on the U.S. junior team in every year except 1992.....that would be 1986 through 1999. He also had three players on the 94 U.S. olympic team.

Here's a few of Lucia's excuses from this past weekend (from the star tribune):

"Justice was served," Gophers coach Don Lucia said. "The team that should have won the game won. They were the better team. They played hungry and dictated the game."

"They were the better team this weekend," Gophers coach Don Lucia said. "They deserve to be the No. 1 team in the country."

"There are a lot of ups and downs in every season," Lucia said. "Right now we're in a down period. It is a chore for us to score. Hopefully we can be better next weekend.

  7. Right from the NCAA Rulebook, Rule 5, Section 3:

    paragraph 3:

The referees were in on it, right "TC"?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Assists are determined from the press box. Have PCM ask the UND officials in the press box at the Ralph where they get the assists from.

BTW, compared to 84% for UND in 2000-01....MN in 2001-02 - 67% of their goals at home had two assists.

  8. Here is Greyeagle's comments today (from POI) on Kessel possibly going to BU........

    "Two Thoughts

    1. The last player I can think of who committed to a program based on an the glitz & glamor of a new arena escaped from said arena ring free.

    2. Suter like his beloeved UW soooo much he couldn't wait to get his derri

  9. I am not very good at stats but .894 and 2.62 isn't all that great in  my book either since Parise went like .900 with a 2.05 last season.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I know you're not very good at stats, but is Parise's .900 and 2.60 this year all that great?

Most Minnesota fans are excited because they like to see a player improve from one year to the next. Not regress.

  10. We are now to the point of comparing the change in Gopher recruting strategy to the tearing down of the Berlin wall - only a gopher fan could make such a ridiculous comparison which begs me to wonder which comparision is next?:silly:?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's called using a metaphor....a pretty common practice in journalism.

  11. Hey Skippy - As in subject matter - not Poster....I guess I should have said postee

Now back to 6th period language for you.....

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The last Vanek thread on SS was started on Nov. 4. The last Parise thread on POI was pre-August 16.

  12. Wrong. Your a distant Second to UND. If you go on ICUP I mean POI they regularly talk about UND. You were on our site. Taffe has a bad rep. I remember

him at the Ralph shooting pucks into the UND student section. Pure class. Another downtown Minneapolis grung punk worked.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I stand corrected. If you scroll down at POI, the 109th thread is about the Sioux.

  13. Stop comparing apples and oranges. There is a considerable difference between one's freshmen and sophomore seasons at any position in college hockey.

Briggs as a freshmen won 25 of the 40 games he appeared in, which provides a comparable win % to PL's, (comparing 40 games played to 7 notwithstanding). His GAA was 2.62 and save % was .894 and he was the goalie on what was generally regarded as the top team in the country at the beginning of the year yet didn't lead his team to the Frozen Four. As of this point, not really a whole lot to brag about other than some early season success this year, which gets you little or nothing.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Umm...someone said Lammy had better stats than Briggs and I pointed out that was a false statement. I'm sorry if facts are misconstrued as bragging.

  14. S-L-O-W-L-Y for those impaired - Winning percentage= wins/number of games

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Lammy wins 64.3 percent of his starts. If he made the same number of starts as Briggs, he would be 7-4-1.
