  1. Having 4 forwards on that list is pretty impressive for the Sioux, but let's face it, if Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr all were 18 again and coming to the Sioux, INCH would still list them well down on that chart.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I agree. Travis Zajac should have been rated higher than No. 1 last year and Brady Murray should have been ranked higher than No. 1 in 2003. When will North Dakota's hockey program get the respect it deserves?

  2. Motzko will give Da Don a big run for some talent in Minnesota.  Truth be told, Motzko probably has the better eye for it.    A little birdie told me that he was the guy that The Don always turned to on who he should recruit.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ring...ring..."Hey Bob, it's Don. I saw this guy's name in the paper....I think it's Phil something. Do you think we should recruit him? You do? Ok. What? Blake Wheeler? Never heard of him. If you say so. By the way, good call on recruiting Goligoski, Hagemo and Peltier. I was way off. I don't know how I won three titles and reached the Frozen Four at CC without you or even how I got Potulny, Riddle, Koalska, Martin and Waibel to sign with us when John Hill was here."

  3. Actually, this year they are starting a fan promotion:  There will be a vote on what two teams SHOULD have made it to the Frozen Four but didn't.  It will be a college hockey version of the NIT.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If only they had that promotion when Zach was playing...

  4. Hirsch is the big question mark.  Either way he deserves a better coach than Lucia.  Let me explain.  The kid is either mentally ill, and should have NEVER played in the frozed four OR he just did something dumb and Lucia was out of control in trying to control the media (not allowing the footage to be shown).

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    A) Mentally ill - Tyler's parents wanted him to play in the NCAA Regional. Lucia and his staff said no way.

    B) Control the Media - I've read this a few places that the U was intimidating people about the video. I haven't seen one shred of evidence related to this. Shed some light?

  5. Futhermore, none of them had a temper tantrum in front of a live audience. Very unprofessional behaviour from a hockey player. Glad it was a Gopher.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Make all the signs you want.

I was referring to your ridiculous claim that Hirsch is an embarrassment to his program and school. Is Greene an embarrassment to his program and his school? Is Brandt? Was Bochenski?

  6. Based on how your fellow Gopher fans have treated these situations with Sioux players, I'd say yes.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Woah, woah, woah!! Are you saying the Sioux had a team captain arrested for drunk driving? I don't remember Sioux_Hab-it calling him an embarrassment to his team or his school. If I remember correctly he said the following "Understand that the guy is human and that he made a mistake".

  7. And we are all glad he did. What an embarassment to his program and school. Someone else for Prpich to verbally victimize on Thursday night.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Would Hirsch be an embarrassment to his program and school if he was a team captain and arrested for drunk driving? Or arrested for theft? Or pleading guilty to a felony?

  8. Interestingly enough, Minnesota's pride on ice barely fills the lower bowl if the Gophers are in the 3rd place game on Saturday, which has happened at least once in the past few years.  Fair weather?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Is that similar to Engelstad this past Friday when the building was 83 percent full for a home playoff game against a rival?

  9. Too bad Brooks isn't here to talk some sense into the kid...I'll be honest, I wish he was coming to UND and I'm jealous as hell that he'd rather be a goofer or a stinking badger. I'm holding out hope that he was so impressed with the Ralph and the facilities here and the coaches, etc. that he plans to surprise everyone and go with the Sioux. What back-walking everyone would have to do on a note like that...too funny. Can't you just hear that dumb-s&!t Dubay bad mouthing the kid-currently thought to be the second coming

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Kinda like some of the Sioux fans bad-mouthing him now? Do you think their tune would change if he gave UND a verbal? The Gopher board will no doubt be minimizing his talent in a similiar fashion if he opts for Wisconsin.

  10. I agree. I'm sure Vanek and Parise could have gone anywhere they wanted to and neither of them held a press conference. Sounds like Kessel's been reading too many of his own press clippings.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Kessel is not holding a press conference. He is holding a conference call. Isn't that better than getting a phone call from the Star Tribune, then taking a call from the Pioneer Press, then the Minnesota Daily, then KFAN, then the Cap Times in Madison and the Wisconsin State Journal, then the Badger Herald, then the Daily Cardinal, then USCHO, then Inside College Hockey, then etc., etc.?

And for the record, the elite high school football and basketball players routinely hold press conferences to announce where they are signing.

  11. If I remember right, didn't the Gophies all  get perms last year in a show of team unity?  With that history, I'd have figured they would have all got manicures this year.

Hair, no hair, they still suck.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Team A

    2001-02: Perms (NCAA Title)

    2002-03: Beards (NCAA Title)

2003-04: Perms (Second straight Broadmoor, Regional Final)

2004-05: Shaved (On pace for No. 1 or 2 seed)

    Team B

2001-02: Nothing (one of the worst seasons in recent memory)

2002-03: Nothing (pathetic, uninspired loss to Ferris)

2003-04: Nothing (Consensus No. 1 team in the nation; Regional Final)

2004-05: Nothing (sub .500 in the WCHA)

  12. The 2003 Gopher team lost 255 points and a four-year starter in net from 2002.....Hobey Baker Award winner, two first-team All-Americans, WCHA winningest goaltender, nation's leading scorer, nation's second leading goal scorer

  13. Minnesota

    G. Potulny

    T. Riddle

    K. Ballard

    T. Vanek

    M. Koalska

    J Waibel

    J Taylor

    J Martin

    B. MacKinnon

228 points; 725 career points; 1st-team AA; 2nd-team AA; three captains; two Frozen Four MVPs; three to the NHL early; six guys playing in the pros

  14. Here is saying Sioux take six from here on in.

AA and St. Clown will be tough on the road, but doable.

Wisconsin series will be a tough row, but they can be had.  An average

Gophers team proved that this weekend.

Six points is assuming that Derek Shepard is not the referee in any of these series.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's weird how that average Gopher team is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as of now and took three of four against Wisconsin.

  15. It's like annual thing here....ripping on Dubay when he speculates about UND. I remember the outrage here when midway through the '03 season he said Minnesota would finish higher than UND by the end of the season. UND was rolling along at 9-1-3 in the conference (Gophers 6-4-3), but Dubay continued to say UND was a fraud. Turned out he was right.

What prediction has he made about UND that didn't come true?
