There's no doubt that Minny has a top hockey program. It deserves more respect in the market because quite frankly they're the only ones with any championships since 1991. (And I love watching the Twins so don't think I'm dissing them). But their concern about recruiting in Minnesota only is a bunch of BS. In fact they should do much better recruiting Minnesota kids than they do. Winnipeg is closer to Grand Forks than Roseau is from Minneapolis. They should quit being dumb.

Actually I'm pretty ticked off that Kupchella retired a long time before he quit drawing a paycheck and I'm no fan of Kelly either. Spending state money in a manner specifically against the law was illegal. Ask Sandy Blunt how that works out. Also his junket with his family charged to the University was the same in my book as thieving. He's a crook in my opinion.

The state board of higher education is an unelected body appointed by the Governor. You can't do anything about the guys on there. But the person who appointed them should get the blame.

It's not exactly private money. Besides they had a statutory limit and wilfully ignored it. Aren't there consequences for breaking the law?

For the record it was the Executive Director of the Alerus and the Secretary of the Alerus Center that called Alerus critics morons. So far I haven't heard there's any move to get them out of there. So in addition to the Alerus losing money, [the main] Alerus supporters misleading the the public to get it built (IMO), Alerus not being forthcoming with the results of events, AND now the arrogance and contempt by Alerus leadership to critics is the place really worth it as it's presently being run?

Those are good points, but how much did it cost the public FOR the Democrat convention. That information has never been released, but instead washed in with the $720,000 event loss from last year. (They said that Neil Diamond lost $250,000 which makes you wonder.)
