  1. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the Athletic Dept. saves a few bucks, but the Spring game could not be held at the Al because GF Red River is holding their prom there.
  2. Actually, last year it was at the the East Grand Forks High School field.
  3. The latest update that I have is that the Spring game is going to be at NOON this Saturday at Memorial.
  4. The info. that I have is that it is on the 21st at 1:00 at Memorial.
  5. I hope they make this change ASAP. The turf change in Bismarck has been a huge improvement. I would hope that the money could be put together to give our athletes the best possible surface available.
  6. A few years ago, we went to Mike Shannon's. It was very good but you'll pay for it.
  7. I am not certain of this but is it not true that the purchase of this private building downtown will result in no future property taxes as it is now a government owned building? I know in Bismarck, private business has griped about that issue for years because of the State government being housed there. That would be an additional burden on the tax base within the city of Fargo.
  8. Generally, I think they approach each class by the team's needs by positon. I would imagine it would look like the NFL draft board where they list each player at their position and offer the top prospects first. During the course of the recruiting period, it likely becomes apparent who may be leaning away so they move on, etc. I am not all that surprised by the 24 verbals so far as there were a number of seniors leaving the program.
  9. Most athletes receive their paperwork in the mail and need to have them sent back to the school for signing day. If you had a very prized recruit, they may hold a press conference.
  10. As is the case with only 36 scholarships, UND increases a players money as they begin to contribute more. Generally the bulk of the money from athletics comes in the players last 2-3 seasons. I would assume a fair amount of money will be available due to the large number of seniors coming off the books this year but certainly some of it will be distributed to the rest of the current team as well as incoming recruits. It will be interesting to see how many scholarships they will have to work with when they move up after next season.
  11. I may be mistaken, but traditionally UND not only spends money on athletes but academic funds are involved for those who have earned it. I would say, based on UND's history with their student-athletes, that many of these young men are receiving more than the athletic scholarship.
  12. Although I have not seen anything official yet, Senger has given his verbal to NDSU.
  13. Sure. Can you link it here or is it on the Hockey site?
  14. Great job! Always sad to see a great season end. This could easily be used by Warrior 08 as their highlight video too! What a tool!
  15. Remember there is a UND connection in this game: Coach Tibesar is coaching the Special Teams at K-State. As many of you know, he played and coached at UND until this season.
  16. Yes, but these are all roadblocks as designed by the NCAA. My point was purely hypothetical. I would like to see the overall health and wellbeing of the athletic department considered rather than forcing the entire department to make a move when it realistically is only practical for one or two programs.
  17. No. It will take some time to finalize the schedule. I don't remember when the schedule came for this past season.
  18. I swear sometimes that I'm reading a note being passed around in Junior High! Not all programs are good at every school! I believe the real crime here as far as the move to D-I is with the NCAA. I will not pretend to know the programs at NDSU but I think your Men's basketball and Football were ready to make the move to D-I. The rest of the programs are likely going to struggle for some time. I hope as a North Dakotan that all of your programs will thrive eventually. As for UND, I think it only made sense for Football to make the move. The rest of the programs will struggle for some time. I think the NCAA has lost sight of their purpose. The moral on campus and the ability to raise funds at the institution would be best served if the individual sports could have some say in their move or not. While I understand that this would be very difficult to accomplish I think it would be best for everyone.
  19. While I think it is important to remember that making a generalization about the superiority of top D-II or D-IAA teams is not wise, I believe you have to make one very important observation: NO DI-AA team (including NDSU) believe they should have the game at the D-II site. Nearly always the game is played on their home field. The twelveth man does help! I do not believe there is a lot of difference between the eleven men that line up on each side of the ball. The depth at their backup positions does begin to show at the higher levels. Any given game on any given Saturday can provide for a perceived "Upset."
  20. Please keep in mind that next year we will still be playing and competing for a D-II title. Your thought of 3 or 4 home games could be very likely for the following year.
  21. I agree on most of these positions. It may be interesting at D-line. Remember we go two deep at every position. I believe there may be a chance of seeing Richter moved to Nose with Wayne. Cadwell, White, Gottbeheat and Farstveet will likely be the four in the rotation at D-end. Caufield had knee surgery a few weeks ago I think. I thought he'll have a full recovery. He can be a weapon with his size, speed and strength.
  22. The team practices outside all the time unless the weather is just unbearable. I believe they were inside the Hyslop one day this week otherwise out in the elements. It certainly looks as though the weather will need to be dealt with by each team. Taking care of the football will be imperative! GO SIOUX!!
  23. Has he put his mouth in overdrive again?
