  1. Ah, if that was what was the intended meaning, then absolutely. You sir, are correct.

The Gophers had won a game, and honestly, yeah they are not good. But a game against a Big Ten team at their house is going to be a big game. They'd likely be middle of the road in the two conferences mentioned.

I seriously doubt any semi-intelligent fan thought St. Francis was a big game, and Missouri St. was a big game just so that we could forget about the embarassment last year.

I do find it a little funny, that you guys say NDSU fans take over the threads and talk about NDSU too much, but I would have to say you guys started it this time. Closet Bison fans? ;)

I think I just threw up in my mouth after reading this.

  2. I was wondering what the tailgate scene is like up in Greely. Tailgating is awesome at CU so if UNC's experience is only a fraction of that I would be happy.

I was thinking about getting tickets in advance but they are so bad right now that tickets are probably easy to come by. I will prob buy them in advance in a week or so just in case.

We roadtripped up to Greeley about 8 years ago and tailgated along with the parents of the players. Don't know if it's changed but the parking lot had space for it and the scenery around the stadium was gorgous.
  3. Had the pleasure of hearing Sioux Sport's own Dave Berger and the Downtown Horns Band at the homecoming gathering Friday night. Wow - a realllly great cover band. I nominate them as the official dance band of UND - I suppose the UND marching band has to be the official band.

Dave you are very talented and we are sure glad you take the time to do all you do for keeping Sioux fans connected. I think you should keep a thread active that lists where the Downtown Horns will be playing.

  4. That's what rumors are - rumors. No way to know the truth - UND had to put those dollars in there otherwise questions would have been asked I suppose. I should say that it wouldn't bother me if this was the truth - this is another no win situation because you will never please everyone.

  5. Rumor has it that it's decided and It's gonna be the Roughriders, those who live outside Grand Forks won't know and won't care that a local high school has the same nicknames. That isn't uncommon around the country.

  6. There are many issues that go into a higher education choice - the major they intend to go into, their comfort with the size of the school and the size of the community, do they have friends attending, are their parents and family able to attend their games and of course the amount of financial assistance offered. It's amusing but sad to read the constant negative wishful thinking of the bison trolls.

  7. There was a buzz in the crowd when he said it, but since we are no longer rivals it's pretty easy to move on. I've also had my UND logo wear confused for Notre Dame but I forgive people quickly and move on. Perhaps that was what happened with the polls a few weeks ago - coaches thought they were voting for Notre Dame :whistling:

  8. Does anyone really think the school administration needs a thread to alert them they have a coaching problem - if and when there is a coaching problem?

  9. SCSU's opposition to the Sioux nickname left with President Santiago whose legacy at SCSU has now become that he left the school in very tough financial condition, thus their need to cut programs, such as aviation, and put the football team on the chopping block. SCSU is a nice road trip, their fans are fanatic, their booster club is welcoming to Sioux fans, there is even an unofficial traveling trophy I believe sponsored by Siouxsports? For a rivalry to survive there does need to be some tension and give and take. Let's now be too "holier than thou" on this - college hockey needs programs like SCSU to remain a viable part of college sports.

  10. We need a good atmosphere for him to experience this weekend - although I'm sure this isn't his first trip to a UND game. I too will hold back my real comments until it's a done deal (because as "they" will tell you "they" never lose a recruit to "us" ;)

  11. I'm talking about the ones that come with an agenda - it usually consists of:

No knowledge of UND sports history

Myopic knowledge of "how great" ndsu is and always has been

Chest puffing of how great ndsu is

Need to puff up ndsu and constantly try and compare the two institutions with ndsu coming out on top

    Need to diss UND

Not really here to discuss sports, more here to make their lame comparisions of how great ndsu is

I think there can be plenty of enjoyable discussions and disagreements among Sioux fans and an occasional opponent poster dropping in, but what we have is ndsu vultures starting threads, dropping ndsu into every discussion, dissing hockey and it gets a little tiresome.

  12. I have several UND friends who are saying they are going to stop reading Siouxsports because it has been taken over by ndsu geeks who have nothing better to do than continue to compare themselves to a school that they no longer claim they want to be associated with. How can we take back this site? I think the Moderators have to do something - JohnBoy and others please moooove on, you are not welcome here, we don't care what you think, we certainly don't care to hear anything about the bi-sons. Your presence here continues to prove the only way ndsu fans measure themselves is by comparing themselves to UND. We have moved on to a different conference, we have a top level division 1 sport that you don't care about.

Am I alone in my thoughts here or are there others that agree we need to take back this site and keep it focused on UND?

  13. Upside to St. Cloud State:

    Nice road trip distance

Rowdy atmosphere - it's the only sport students care about

A small but friendly booster club - SCSU and UND have had some enjoyable pre-game socials

Their history of being anti Sioux nickname left when President Santiago retired

    Downside to St. Cloud State:

They will always be a second tier school

They will always be fighting for money to keep nice facilitites (and lose to UofM)

They are not a destination school for students, they are a "settle for" school

I would not doubt that dropping football is on their double secret agenda like Omaha. They have already dropped homecoming a football event, they were ready to drop football last year until student funding came through.

  14. For every idiot that doesn't understand why a someone would wear a Sioux sweatshirt to a Bison/Gopher game there are many, many more who appreciate the support of our intrastate rivals. When the Sioux play the Gophers in hockey, I always root for the Sioux, even though I wouldn't call myself a Sioux fan.

Yes but you don't hear Sioux fans shouting Anti-Bison chants at Sioux-Gopher Hockey games and you don't have any Sioux fans going onto Bisonswill pounding their chests and ruining every thread discussion. Nope not rooting for the Bison or the Gophers - I am Switzerland on this one.

  15. I am assuming it goes without saying that the title of this thread does not speak for all participants in this site, nor does it in all probablity speak for a majority of Sioux football fans. As with most threads it is best taken as an opportunity to discuss topics.

  16. Everytime a bisonswill fan posts on Siouxsports it screams of their inferiority complex. Please go post on your new rivals site I'm sure the Jackrabbits would love to hear from you. UND has moved in a different direction - what part of that don't you understand - we are in a different conference, we have different values, we have a top tier Division I sport that you can't relate to. Please mooooove on!

  17. First of all I think there's a place called Bisonswille for you su fans to post - there are at least a half dozen threads about UND on that site you can go post on - they've even got a special smak thread for the really poisonous and idiotic. I really can't figure out why you spend time on a site for a school that you are no longer a rival of - your inferiority complex screams everytime you post here - grow up and move on.

Second - do we really want to be one of "those schools" where the fans think they can run the decision making? Let's let everyone do their job, the administration, the coaches, the players and let's just be fans through thick and think. It's just ridiculous to start rants about firing coaches. Second guessing, arm chair quarterbacking is what fans do and that is fine, but good god what value do threads with "Fire _____ " bring to the discussion? It doesn't make the school look good, it doesn't help the players morale and it certainly has little impact on the decision making - no matter what you think.

Yes it was a very tough loss, we are still in transition - guess what - whether we go 11-0 or 3-8 the result at the end of the season will still be the same - one year closer to full DI status and one year more experienced. Going 10-0 or 9-1 would be fun but it has no impact on your future progress you can still go 3-8 when it really counts - that's been proven.

It's also been proven that when fans and fans board posting start ranting for coaches to be fired it does nothing for the good of the school. We all have high expectations for all UND teams based on history I'm guessing the administration, coaches and players do too. Let them take care of it. It's a game, it's for fun, they are student athletes, the coaches are dedicated and hard working.

Be a fan - but not "that kind of fan".
