  1. Benton and Austin Antwi (that's his full name I guess) have signed their LOI's: http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205140255 Also, regarding Gentry:
  2. In the weekly live chat on the Herald site, I asked whether recruiting was done for this year, and Wayne Nelson answered that it was, and that everybody is expected back next year. I'm not sure about the wisdom of this course of action, i.e. not adding any new big kids to the roster, but I guess we'll see next year. He also indicated that Austin is expected to be an impact player right away, and that Gentry and Benton will likely red-shirt.
  3. Kolpack just tweeted that NDSU has offered, as well.
  4. Let's be honest--Jones probably wouldn't be disappointed if some of the kids who don't really fit into the projected eight or nine-man rotation for next season moved on so as to open up some scholarships to be used for a juco big man this year, and one or two big kids for 2012-13. As I see it, the rotation for next year will likely consist of the five starters from this season, plus Anderson, Allard, Wilmer and Gentry if he doesn't red-shirt. If Gentry does red-shirt, maybe you move Goodman into that role as a backup to Huff and Schuler. Not sure whether Benton and/or Austin will red-shirt, but I hope they do. That leaves at least two, and perhaps three scholarship juniors who likely aren't going to play much. If they're satisfied with being primarily practice players, that's fine. If not, maybe they move on to a smaller school to actually get to play extensive minutes.
  5. I'm just wondering if this move signals an underclassmen's impending departure, which would open up a scholarship so that a juco big could still be brought in. I have a hard time believing that Ingram was the only juco recruiting target, and that once he signed elsewhere the decision was made to sign a high school guard instead.
  6. Lenny Austin from Vanier Prep in Montreal has committed to UND: http://www.flagrantfouls.com/2011/04/lenny-austin-has-lots-to-celebrate-vanier-guard-commits-to-north-dakota/
  7. Are you sure there are two scholarships available? I thought it was only one?
  8. I would guess that since people north and south of town were likely preparing for at least a 52-foot crest, the wind/waves shouldn't be a big problem given the considerably-lower-than-expected river levels.
  9. It appears the Red River at GF-EGF crested yesterday at 49.67. Interesting that even with all the new information accumulated in the 14 years since 1997, predicting the crest is still a very inexact science. It ended up approximately 2.3 feet lower than what was predicted as recently as three days ago.
  10. SFI blog on week 2 of spring ball: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2011/04/12/week-2-notes/
  11. In this interview with Greg Breitbach regarding the quarterback competition posted today on fightingsioux.com, nothing was mentioned about an injury to Comes, or anything else which would explain his absence from the spring game: http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205134617
  12. Thanks. It appears it will be located on the 2500 block of South Columbia Road.
  13. Has anybody eaten at JL Beers in Fargo? I guess they are opening one in Grand Forks soon.
  14. Any idea who else might be a possibility for the last scholarship?
  15. Mussman was pretty frank with his comments a few months ago that if the staff isn't satisfied with the progress of the quarterbacks coming out of spring ball, they would not hesitate to bring at least one more in prior to fall camp. Considering Demler's departure and the fact that Hendrickson could possibly be better-suited to another position, perhaps that may occur even if somebody emerges as a clear-cut number one?
  16. Looks like something has been worked out: http://www.fightingsioux.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205130485
  17. I kind of like our chances against USD and WIU for a Twin Cities kid, but Boise State is a pretty good program. Hopefully he wants to play relatively close to home.
  18. While there have been some mistakes made in scheduling IMO, such as the Idaho State debacle and one-game, road-only deals with SE Louisiana and SFA, I believe there has also been some bad luck, such as essentially giving free home non-conference games to Montana, UNC and possibly even SUU (was the contract for the 2007 game part of a home-and-home?). At least we still have a couple of good return games coming from SDSU and Central Arkansas. I will admit to being upset if that SDSU game does not come to fruition, however.
  19. Lindahl signed with Valley City State: http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/314144/group/Sports/
  20. Check out post no. 27 in this thread with regard to Carrasco: I would assume his departure wasn't a huge surprise.
  21. Considering Iverson only has one year of eligibility left, and he'd have to sit out a year if he transfers to another dI program, you would think he might choose a dII school such as Augie so that he could play right away. You don't see a lot of seniors-to-be transferring to another dI school, but anything is possible, I guess.
  22. Apparently Walker may still be on the team. See comments section of most recent SFI blog.
  23. Spring offense preview from SFI: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/
  24. I noticed the following defections: I. Carrasco S. Walker B. Lundeen T. Jenson
