  1. Looks like something has been worked out: http://www.fightingsioux.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205130485
  2. I kind of like our chances against USD and WIU for a Twin Cities kid, but Boise State is a pretty good program. Hopefully he wants to play relatively close to home.
  3. While there have been some mistakes made in scheduling IMO, such as the Idaho State debacle and one-game, road-only deals with SE Louisiana and SFA, I believe there has also been some bad luck, such as essentially giving free home non-conference games to Montana, UNC and possibly even SUU (was the contract for the 2007 game part of a home-and-home?). At least we still have a couple of good return games coming from SDSU and Central Arkansas. I will admit to being upset if that SDSU game does not come to fruition, however.
  4. Lindahl signed with Valley City State: http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/314144/group/Sports/
  5. Check out post no. 27 in this thread with regard to Carrasco: I would assume his departure wasn't a huge surprise.
  6. Considering Iverson only has one year of eligibility left, and he'd have to sit out a year if he transfers to another dI program, you would think he might choose a dII school such as Augie so that he could play right away. You don't see a lot of seniors-to-be transferring to another dI school, but anything is possible, I guess.
  7. Apparently Walker may still be on the team. See comments section of most recent SFI blog.
  8. Spring offense preview from SFI: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/
  9. I noticed the following defections: I. Carrasco S. Walker B. Lundeen T. Jenson
  10. Here's the depth chart: http://www.fightingsioux.com/downloads2/407984.pdf?ATCLID=205123000&SPSID=58640&SPID=6399&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=13500 Interesting that Kleason isn't listed as a starter.

Sounds like another ex-UND player will be joining the staff--Luke Schleusner (per a tweet by SFI).
  12. SFI previews the defense: http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/
  13. I predict Washpun will go wherever current Missouri State coach Cuonzo Martin is coaching next year--possibly Missouri.
  14. Any chance that a school such as Marquette, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and/or Wisconsin-Green Bay would add hockey? It seems like the state of Wisconsin could easily support more than one dI program, and the facilities are already in place in Milwaukee and Green Bay.
  15. It's easier to recruit a good juco big man as a dII school than it is as a low-to-mid-major dI school, because there are quite a few who aren't eligible to play dI (e.g. Beasley) who need a place to play. The ones who are eligible to play dI are in huge demand. Of course I'd love it if UND could unearth a hidden gem, but I just don't think it's particularly realistic. Maybe a bulkier Emmanuel Little-type, though?
  16. I'm afraid that any 6'10" kid UND can get will be a long-term project. If the goal is to find a player who can contribute early on, I would like to see Jones and staff look for an under-sized inside player similar to Noah Dahlman.
  17. Sorry--I know no further details, or even whether it's true. My guess is that if true, it's a player who was recruited by UND out of high school, and who is looking to transfer to either a smaller school, or someplace closer to home (or perhaps both).
  18. I think he's definitely got 20-plus ppg potential. Considering how infrequently it happens, I'm not particularly concerned about him transferring to a higher-profile program. From what I understand, the freshman class is a pretty close group.
  19. Jones reiterated on the coaches' show last night that the staff is looking for a juco 4 or 5. So is the fact that Washpun is still being recruited merely a case of keeping all options open for the one remaining scholarship, or does it suggest that more than one scholarship is expected to be available for next year once all is said and done?
  20. It appears UND is still recruiting Wesley Washpun: http://www.timesrepublican.com/page/blogs.detail/display/1017/Lots-of-Division-I-talent-on-display-in-Class-4A-opener.html
  21. You are far closer to the program than I am, so I will take your word for it, but I have always been under the impression that Behrns was forced out following the 1985 season. Granted, I was only 15 at the time, so I didn't follow things as closely back then. Is it possible he was told to either resign or be terminated, and he (understandably) chose the former? It would be interesting to read how the Herald reported the story back then. In any event, I think it was a matter of too much, too soon for Behrns. He was very young (29 or 30) when he took over at UND. Had he been 5 or 10 years older when he got the job, I suspect things may have worked out far better for him here.
  22. The termination was 26 years, and several a.d.'s ago. And I'm not sure how picky he can afford to be at this point. But with that said, I still think it's more likely Lennon will find a place for him. I see it similar to when Ben Jacobson hired Rich Glas a few years back.
  23. She scored 19 points to lead Hopkins over Buffalo today: http://www.mngirlsbasketballhub.com/news_article/show/82432?referrer_id=248312&elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUCDEaLDyE7DyaU
  24. Have you heard anything regarding negotiations to hopefully keep the UND-USD series going?
