I voted IPFW and UTPA because those are the only 2 that I think are for sure. UVSC, NDSU, and SDSU potentially could get in also. UND and USD will probably be talked about but won't be considered at this time. I wouldn't mind seeing NDSU, SDSU, UND, and USD in the Big Sky with UM and MSU. That would probably require Sac State to leave for DI-A, though.

I don't see anything wrong with recruiting a JUCO student athlete if he can get it done in the classroom and is the type of person you want to be a part of your program.

Actually, I'd like to see Montana, Montana State, NDSU, UND, SDSU, and USD all in the same conference. Might be a pipe dream. Esp. if UM and MSU go DI-A.

Well, anything associated with the east more than likely as a bunch of BS tradition tied to it that takes forever to break. I suppose wearing a full helmet isn't "pretty enough" or something. I was going to mention that women's hockey has full helmets but you beat me to it. I wouldn't my daughter play Lacrosse with only goggles, period.

Wasn't NDSU the first of the Dakota flagships to announce DI? And then didn't SDSU follow afterward? We could be looking at the same thing with UND leading the way and then USD considering it and then deciding to partner with UND for the transition. Here's my prediciton for the start of the 2009 season: Great West: NDSU SDSU UND USD Poly Davis SUU Mid Con: NDSU SDSU UND USD SUU UVSC ORU UMKC WIU IUPUI IPFW Oakland NCC: Mankato Saint Cloud Duluth Augi Northern State Omaha UN Kearny Winona Bimidji NSIC: Concordia Wayne Southwest State Moorhead Crookston Upper Iowa Mary Minot State U Sioux Falls

I'm not a Sioux fan but I do have the opinion that USD should move up. NDSU, SDSU, UND, and USD make a logical group of four flagship universities with statewide following. Of the four, USD probably has the lowest budget and the lowest facilities. You guys probably needs some new facilities and those will cost some money. You do have some wealthy alumni that you could tap, though. As far as the NCC goes. I believe UND and USD are the only schools that can make the move up. The rest don't have the desire or the ability at this time.

Question: why are men required to wear full helmet/facemask but the women are only required to wear goggles?
-
No knock against swimming, but if that's the plan then why not something like volleyball?
-
Don't hockey already takes these?
-
On Bisonville a poster mentioned that SCSU has applied to the NSIC! If Duluth and Mankato follow suit and UNO goes to the MIAA, what happens to the NCC? Augi has an easy decision (join the NSIC). But what will USD do?
-
Has there been a school that declared an exploritory year and then went back to DII?
-
Sure, SDSU would love to have UND in the Mid Con and Great West. But if you mention USD tagging along they explode in a fit of rage, citing reports of USD financial problems.

Neither the 2010-11 contract or the new 2012-2013 contract affect the situation. The basic questions remains the same: why should the football schools share the football money with the non football schools? How does having only 8 football members help in scheduling? Wouldn't 9 (at least) be better?
-
That what I meant, at the high school level, not at the university itself. High school lacrosse is picking up in Florida? How can it compete with high school baseball/softball, track, golf, etc.?

If UND goes DI, it's impossible to even suggest that UND and NDSU will never play each other again. Stop pretending you don't want it.
-
And Ohio State also has fencing. Two schools with unlimited budgets and every possible sport offered by the NCAA. Whoops, bad assumption by me. I suppose that explains the lack of college level softball players from ND.
-
Which WCHA and CCHA schools have Lacrosse? Denver...and...?
-
You guys all have good points. Here's one for you, if this is such a slam dunk, why aren't any schools in the Midwest considering it?
-
You're a couple posts too late. I already got it. How about Neuharth Arena and Brokaw Field at a renovated Dakota Dome? Not a stretch to my imagination if USD were to announce a move to DI. I've seen this type of foolish yet all too irrelevent mind set over at bisonville toward UND. NDSU and UND will play again. There's just no other way about it.
-
I think that as long as North Dakota high schools participate in a sport, there should be a DI venue for the best of those athletes to compete instate at if they chose. Baseball and softball are played in North Daktoa. So NDSU can and probably will be a DI venue that the best ND baseball and softball players can play at instate if they choose. If UND wants to drop baseball (probably harder to drop softball), so be it. But until ND starts playing lacrosse at the high school level (sooner? later?), I don't see the need to bring in kids from Maryland, etc.

I'm so way off course because I messed one guy up. They still have the newspaper guy and the news anchor guy. Lots of money. Must make you SDSU fans jealous.
-
That's all you got? I was hoping for an actual response. Do all SDSU posters turn into eight year old girls who don't get the new barbie when they run out of counter arguments? USD has plenty of potential money from doners should they move up to USD. They'd have no problem raising 30 million to build a new arena. Just get in contact with Tom Daschle, What'shisface who owned (still owns? can't remember) the big newspaper, and wasn't there a guy who was a big time news anchor? Etc.
-
Who cares? When has an athletic budget stopped any school from moving up? Think Savannah State except with a conference invite (GWFC/Mid Con). Is it the least relavent question when it comes to moving up. Is USD title IX complient now? Yes. Why wouldn't they be when they move up? Need a new arena. USD is being forced to move up by the demise of the NCC (UND moving up, UNO going to the MIAA). There is no other choice. To hell with the regents if they can't see that. Since when does not having a baseball team mean that you can't be DI? Montana, Montana State, Idaho, Idaho State, Wyoming, Colorado State, Utah State, Weber State... should I list more? There is no such topic on any bison board. There is a topic I started where I asked the board what it would think if DII would be closed off. But there certainly is no topic where I announced that DII is done.
