  1. Those lower levels of football that you are talking about are playing for $200 a week in the arena leagues. When I went to UND the football players were always way cockier and more arrogant than the hockey players. One reason this may be true is that many (not all) of the football players came from small town rural America where they don't have hockey and football is #1 in the town. With many of our hockey players, specifically the one's coming from juniors and programs like Shattuck, there is an increased amount of competition. Hockey also provides international competition for 16,17, and 18 year old levels so there is a realization by many hockey players that there is a bigger world out there than themselves. High school football tends to be much more based on in state level and small towns so there could be a bit more ego in that sense. Obviously there are exceptions, but this is the overall impression that I saw when I was there.
  2. Right. I also meant it in that sense. From what I understood the coaches were looking for more of a team leader and role model player.
  3. How I understood the situation is that he was dismissed from the team because the coaches didn't get the type of player they were looking from him.
  4. I believe I posted about Gardiner the other day, he did take a recruiting visit here. Lets wait and see about Davidson. There's a difference when a player commits three years down the road compared to three months before the season. Typically when a player is brought in this late it is because he is brought in to fill a certain spot at foward. I believe Bishop committed close to this time last year and it was to fill another depth spot.
  5. It lists him in the profile as a left handed right wing foward, I believe that is what Fabian was. Since they are both big fowards, that could be the spot that he is being brought in to fill.
  6. They have the maximum amount of money for 18 full scholarships and they split it up unevenly between all the players. Some are getting more than others, but every player is getting a little amount. Some may be on 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, etc. but no matter what the amount comes out to be what the equivalent of 18 full scholarships is.
  7. Since he is 20, I would assume he is coming in this fall.
  8. Cichy's team played later today in the Select 17's, but both Fink and Kristo with a goal each in their first game today.
  9. Right. With likely depatures and with Blood and Gleason coming in, that would leave a spot for one more recruit.
  10. Counting Scott Foyt and Kyle Radke at foward and not counting Bishop and Hamilton, there were 14 fowards and 6 d-men this last year. This year, there are the same amount of fowards and one more d-men. This leaves three players (two fowards and one d-men) out of the lineup every night. Even if two d-men get injured, you can still throw in Radke and put you're 13th foward in. To me, this is an ideal roster. I've said this before, but where you could see another d-men recruit is for 2008, not 2007.
  11. That's what I was saying.
  12. I posted the rosters and schedule in potential recruits for the USA Select 17's. Remember that four of our current recruits (Kristo, Fink, Gleason, and Cichy) will be participating this week. If anyone lives in the Twin Cities/St. Cloud area it is a good way to see some of these guys.
  13. Lee's departure only affects Genoway playing defense. Lapoint still would've been in the lineup every night and Marto will probably still be out of the lineup every night. I would have a hard time believing they would bring in another d-men because that would just put another player on the bench every night. What could happen is another d-men may be brought in for 2008, but not 2007.
  14. He is up here plenty for games.
  15. The USA Hockey Select 17 festival is in St. Cloud starting this Sunday. Here are the rosters and the schedule. Also, if you take notice to the green team it has three of our recruits on it. 16. This has been a topic in other forums but his decision had nothing to do with fans critizing him. Remember that he was given the rookie max and a three year two way contract, which is the same as what Crosby and Ovechukin got. That is a pretty hard offer to turn down.
  17. Gregoire performed well at the Islanders camp, http://islanders.nhl.com/team/app/?service...rticleid=326861
  18. Sunday was the cutdown date for the USHL protected lists, here they are http://www.ushl.com/news/0607/20070702ProtectedLists.cfm
  19. Budish will be taking a visit here during the season for a game, so it is not him.
  20. No Landman is a 17. Also, I don't believe the coaches have been to heavy on Landman yet.
  21. I don't believe Budish has taken a campus visit yet and he will be making one to Minnesota in August, so I don't think it would be him. My best guess would be Mattson since he took a campus visit.
  22. He's not on the team.
  23. If you're being serious it really shows your knowledge of hockey.
