Now the wrong month, June 23-29 so starting on Saturday, not my day.
-
Forgot to clarify the dates, it runs July 23-29.

The USA Hockey national select 16 festival is this week in Rochester, NY. I've posted the Minnesota and North Dakota kids, here are the full rosters, http://www.usahockey.com/Season/Tournament...AHockeyType=ICE

Corey Fienhage has been talked about before. I've never seen him play but he is a tall at d-men at 6-4. He will be participating with Gleason and Fink at the Select 17 in a few weeks. He is on Waterloo's protected list so it looks like he will be playing with Fink in Waterloo next season.

Although Minnesota and Wisconsin have had the better rated classes the last two years, I wouldn't say our recruit classes are thin on skill. Remember, that Forney would've been a first-early second round draft pick if for not gettting injured and performing at the combine. Also, Derrick Lapoint is first/second round talent but (including myself) was underated due to competition level. Another thing to remember is that haven't necessarily needed big recruit classes the last two seasons because of the 05 class, sometimes those scholarships can hold out until a later date (08 or 09). Also, remember that being a mid round pick can sometimes work out very well. Case in point, take Ryan Potulny who was drafted in the third round and never played on a world junior team, he ended out being the best foward in the nation his junior year.

I wouldn't write it in stone but there is a report on the high school board that Chris Student (who is a pretty good d-men) is transfering to Edina next year. This would be the second player recently to transfer there along with Anders Lee. In terms of prospective recruits and committed recruits (Gleason) this Edina team is going to be loaded next year and should really be fun to watch if anyone is in the cities area.

Chris had a good write up about the model camp last week, here is the link http://westerncollegehockey2.blogspot.com/...amp-report.html

McKeen's draft preview came out today, I always like reading his because it gives a good description of every player, here is the link http://www.sharkspage.com/2007_nhl_draftpreview.html

I figured I would start a thread for the draft, tsn released their final rankings of the top 60 and Malone was UND's highest prospect at 58. Here is the link, http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11082&hubname=

I was talking about Budish earlier in terms of having some mixed opinions. Apparently he played very well at the model camp last week. He had eight goals and one assist. Lucia invited him to visit the U of M in August and I would assume our interest isn't lost. From the looks of this he will visit schools in the fall and will make his commitment shortly after.
-
The Lincoln Stars put up a review of their tryout camp last weekend and Gregoire scored one of the three goals for the winning team in the all star game, he was also mentioned as one of the most impressive players throughout the camp.

The Minnesota Select 15 festivals started today and go through the 21st at the NHC in St. Cloud, the players choosen from this group will be invited to the national festival which is July 28-Aug 3 in St. Cloud. Also, Brett's brother Nick Bruneteau will be skating at the national festival. Here are the rosters and the schedule, http://www.minnesotahockey.org/assorted/Ad...l%20Rosters.pdf http://www.minnesotahockey.org/assorted/Ad...%20Schedule.pdf

Nothing on anyone yet. Budish seems to have his likers and dislikers. He tends to draw praise from some but critcism from others. The times I've watched him I wasn't exactly amazed, not to say he wasn't good, but he has a ways to go. All I know on Mattsen is he visited UND, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Denver will be later this summer. You may see a verbal from him closer to the fall. All I know with Landman is he would take the offer here if offered, but I don't think we've offered him anything yet. Kelly Zajac would fill a good depth spot for 2008 if we were interested in him, but he doesn't compare to the talent of Travis and Darcy.

Here is the links to the rink, it is right in St. Paul. http://www.rinkfinder.com/arenas/view_arena.asp?ID=183 http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formt...S&geodiff=1

I have another friend in the cities who told me about this Minnesota 4 on 4 hockey league for professional hockey players. The league is a beer league compromised of many WCHA and college hockey alumni. He went to a couple of games last year and said it was fairly entertaining. Pretty cool to see these guys playing together during the summer, here is the league schedule and rosters. http://www.mn4on4hockey.com/ProRoster%2007%20B&W.pdf http://www.mn4on4hockey.com/07%20ProSummerSchedule.pdf

Anders Lee, who was a foward for St. Thomas Academy is rumored (and it does look to be true) to be transfering to Edina next year to play with Gleason, Budish, and Gaarder. He is an 09 recruit and is pretty good, big power foward at 6'2 200 and since he is going to Edina it may draw some more interest in him from colleges. Either way, that Edina team is going to be pretty good next year. I think the reason he is transfering is because he missed the women and booze (St. Thomas is all boys)

Some people over on the high school board are reporting that Fink will for sure be playing in Waterloo next season and not for the NTDP. Also, here is the schedule for the model camp and updated rosters (since the ones above have change) for the games this weekend. http://www.luciacamps.com/rosters.php Thursday, June 14, 2007 Game times 2:30 Teams 3-5 Mariucci Arena 2:30 Teams 9-11 Ridder Arena 4:30 Teams 1-6 Mariucci Arena 4:30 Teams 7-12 Ridder Arena 6:30 Teams 2-4 Mariucci Arena 6:30 Teams 8-10 Ridder Arena Friday, June 15, 2007 Game times 9:00

No idea if we were recruiting him, but LA Selects foward Dakota Eveland committed to Colorado College today. He will be playing for the NTDP 17U in the fall and will join CC in 2009, big pick up for the them.

I posted the roster for the Minnesota kids at the Select 17s but I don't believe I posted the roster for the Select 16's, here is the roster for the Minnesota kids invited to the Select 16 fesitval. http://www.minnesotahockey.org/assorted/Na...2016%20List.pdf

He's good, also Matt and the younger brother Nick will be participating in their respective select festivals this summer, with Matt in the 17 festival and Nick in the 15 festival http://www.wahahockey.com/2007boysusaparticipants.html

Two of our recruits, Joe Gleason and Mike Fink will be participating in Don Lucia's Model Camp this week at Marriucci and Rider Arena's this week. This camp brings in some of the best players in all of the upper midwest and many of our past, current, and future players have participated in this camp. Many college coaches including our own and USHL coaches attend the camp. It runs June 11-16 and is free and open to the public. This is a chance for anyone in the Twin Cities area to watch good summer hockey. Here are the rosters for each team in the camp. Also, many prospective recruits will be at the camp, it is an elite showcase of talent. This is the main url link for all the videos of all the prospects, it denies me acces to get into it, but if anyone else can get into it you would be able to view the videos of our other recruits. http://mfile.akamai.com/16532/wmv/nhl.down...p/0607/draft07/

I don't know what you have but I have a wireless connection and use the standard windows media player and it works fine with my computer. If you look at the very bottom of the screen to start, it says in pretty small print Malone is #22 white.

Here are two of our recruits videos, some of the url links are not working which is why I can't get the rest of the videos, but I will post them if I get them. Remember, that these videos are not highlight realms, they focus on a few random shifts in the middle of a game and are geared more towards skating and puck handling.
