I have said that I am more scared of Trump than Biden. I could go through a long list of what I don’t like about Biden’s platform. I certainly align closer to the old Republican Party. Almost anybody than Trump.

    This isn’t a dichotomy. There’s other choices.

Just for reference because numbers are fun:
    Expectation was 32%
The 33.1% growth follows Q2 results of -31.4%
End result: Current GDP is at 91.3% of where it was at end of Q1 instead of expected 90.6%.

    Beating expectations is never bad.

That's actually pretty good.  0.7% is pretty huge when you're talking numbers as large as U.S. GDP.

So what is the solution to Covid?  Is it a problem or not? What do you do (or don’t do) if you are the Governor of North Dakota? What would you do if you were President Trump?

    This is a sincere question.

There’s no ‘solution’. Humans are now susceptible to 7 coronaviruses instead of 5. There was an interesting article from The Atlantic where epidemiologists looked at the genetic material of one of the seasonal coronaviruses known to infect humans. They dated some of the genetic mutations in that virus to the late 19th century. Coincidentally that corresponds to an epidemic in 1889 that had previously been attributed to influenza. Some epidemiologistS now attribute that epidemic to a ‘novel’ coronavirus.

Correct....symptoms drive the 10 day clock regardless when you are confirmed  positive.

Asymptomatic positive....clock starts when you are positive.

Yep and if you want to get out of purgatory a day or two earlier you tell your contract tracer you developed symptoms a couple of days before your positive test, because then it reverts back to when your ‘symptoms’ first started developing. They don’t ask you any questions about your health when you test so you can make up anything to your contract tracer. If you test negative you’re screwed. Let that sink in. Your quarantine is the longest if you’re a completely healthy person who doesn’t have Covid.

For the kid, yes.  But I believe you can't test and have it count until a couple days after the close encounter because of the virus taking a couple days to manifest.  At least I thought there was a couple day delay built in.

Then you make up a date to tell your contract tracer you’ve developed symptoms. 10 days after that date you’re good to go.

Testing is hard to get done on a close contact asymptomatic child.  You have to be able to pull some strings at this point.

It was easy for us. Mass testing event. Just had to fill out the registration forms. I was a little leery too but myself and the two kids were in and out in 15 minutes.

It's for sure a school policy.  The kid is 10 days from start of symptoms....or if no symptoms the date of the test.  For the back end, 14 days assumes you stayed in contact with the kid during his/her 10 days.  If you remove yourself from the situation your 14 days starts sooner.....and I believe can cut down to 10 days if you test negative.

It's all such a pile.  That's why the mask change policy by Burgrum was a godsend.  As long as both kids had masks on your kid isn't considered a close contact.  Don't be an idiot and test a healthy kid.

I’ll just add that if a kid is a close contact it makes sense to get them tested and hope for a positive so they can get back to school sooner.

24 days. How'd they come up with that number?

Going through the same thing. Wife is positive and symptomatic. She can go back to work 10 says after first symptoms. I am asymptomatic and have to quarantine for 14 days + the 10 days after her first symptoms, hence the 24 days. I got tested yesterday and am hoping for a positive so I can start living my life sooner.

So sorry.  You will get through this!  Lots of people have graduated from NDSU and come out okay! :p

Seriously though, prayers to your family, hoping for healthy returns!

LOL. Odds are definitely in our favor. Wife has moderate cold symptoms and I am completely asymptomatic. I’m going to get tested tomorrow.

Fred Fridley was just on the radio saying people skipping routine medical procedures in fear of Covid is playing just as much of a role as the uptick in hospital numbers as Covid itself.   Also Sanford Bismarck has 20 beds they can bring online anytime if needed and beds are available in Fargo   Great interview   You should listen to the local guys talk vs spreading fear from the guy out of state

    #twomoreweeks

Well those NDSU guys are usually pretty smart. Ha ha.

They are playing their sports, just a 30% reduction of their season. So 18 basketball/hockey games instead of 26

I'm really curious to see what happens with wrestling.  Not just in MN, but everywhere.

It has been proven to be an unsafe option and not even an effective option used as a profylactic. And why was he taking it to prevent becoming infected while telling the country Covid is nothing more than a minor cough?

About 5.7 million people were prescribed hydroxy chloroquine in 2017. Weird there would be so many prescriptions for a drug ‘proven’ to be unsafe.

Trump’s Tax Returns Show That He Only Paid $750 In Income Tax In 2016 And 2017, And He’s Drowning In Debt

As the president wages a re-election campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing, his finances are under stress, beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt coming due that he has personally guaranteed. Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

How does a tax return show somebody’s balance sheet?

Wel, bizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzon.  Let me tell you something.

True conservatives are also good for our country.  Liberals are early adapters, which at times isn't a good thing mainly due to the unintended consequences of that change.  True and reasonable conservatives can hold back change a bit so more of the consequences can be considered.

Yes, liberals want more government oversight mainly because they see it as a tool for change.  Conservatives prefer the government leaves it alone due to the nature of oversight and chsnge.

Right now, it is totally dysfunctional.  Mainly because the GOP trying to rig the system with voter suppression and gerrymandering.  The outdated Electoral College doesn't help either.

This is an attempt to shove the will of the minority down the majorities' throat.  In 7 out of the last Presidential elections the vote went to the Democrats.  It did not reflect that in governance.

If it contonues without a correction, it will spiral even further out of control.  That correction will hopefully occur in November.

Jefferson characterized people as falling into two group, liberal and servile.  Modern conservatives fall into the liberal category, while people who currently characterize themselves as liberal/progressive fall into the servile category.  Jefferson's direct quote on classic liberalism is "those who identify themselves with the people, have confidence in them cherish and consider them as the most honest & safe,...".  His direct quote on serviles is "those who fear and distrust the people, and wish to draw all powers from them into the hands of the higher classes".  Even though he wrote that 196 years ago I think it still rings true today.

As of yesterday ND is performing the 3rd most average daily tests per 100000 of the 50 states in the last 2 weeks. 6% of all those positive cases in ND wound up in hospitalizations. For all you in the "positive tests are bad and we are all going to die" crowd let's go through this again........do more tests get more positives.

And we were told more testing was key in preventing cases.
