But in this case, the city of Williston is paying airlines to fly to their city.
Since I have business degree from UND...I'll pass on your supply and demand lesson. Fargo is also paying airlines to fly to their city the authority minutes reflect that dating back 5 years or more. It is also kind of interesting that Mead & Hunt represents both Fargo and Grand Forks on consultation services. The pool for these consultants is small but isn't there a conflict of interest here? Fargo keeps getting the "wins", yeah there is more demand but at what point does the airport authority say "what we are doing isn't working"?
From the outside it seems they are content with a pat ourselves on the back, "we are a Top 25 busiest tower" and "look at our new east/west crosswind runway." They got the small community air service grant which is great but SkyWest and United have yet to say, "we are coming" and time kills deals.

1) Minot is 30 more miles away than GFK and Hector.
2) Minot is more remote and historically has a more transient population (Minot AFB personnel, oil workers.)
3) Bismarck doesn't have nearly as high as airline service as Hector, making it easier to add flights to that area.
4) "The west" has a higher flying culture because of distance and terrain? No easy drive to MSP like the east does for more flight and leisure options...GFK and Hector still have to compete with MSP for passengers which "the west" does not. Less lake cabin (culture) to go to like everyone seems to have in GFK and Fargo area for vacations? Grand Forks even has a city of about a million people a little over two hours to its north competing for its flights and entertainment dollars.
Williston will now have as many flights on Delta as GFK. GFK is 5th in regards to commercial daily flights, how is this acceptable for the county and city to keep the status quo?

In 2018, the Big Sky had 4 teams: Montana State 7-4, EWU 9-2, UC Davis 9-2, and Weber State 9-2 (left out: Idaho State and Montana had 6-5 records). In 2017, the Big Sky had 3 teams: Weber State 9-2, NAU, 7-4, and SUU 9-2 (left out: EWU and Sac St. had 7-4 records). In 2016, the Big Sky had 4 teams: Cal Poly 7-4, Weber State 7-4, UND 9-2, and EWU 10-1 (left out: SUU, Northern Colorado, and Montana had 6-5 records). Since UND is essentially a Big Sky school, in 2019 they will be behind these teams: Montana, Weber State, Sacramento State (DII win), and Montana State.
IMO The million dollar question is this: Is the Big Sky the strongest FCS league in 2019? If yes, the committee takes a 5th Big Sky team (either UND or EWU (DII win)) If no, both the Hawks and the Eagles are left out.

One poster previously mentioned Air Force Academy. Seems like a great idea for the Ralph if tickets swaths of tickets available for Minot AFB, Grand Forks AFB, and Cavalier AFS personnel.
If all of the Cavalier AFS personnel are at a basketball game who will watch the Russians?

Just noticed the Airport Authority updated its website to include a "True Cost Calculator". Allows for simultaneous comparison of airfares out of FAR, MSP, and YWG.

Not going to happen too many delta elite passengers that use GFK they didn’t switch to United the last time ua served Gfk. And we’d send out a plane with 40 empty seats unless a great west conference team flew in.
Very true, flew out of GFK on Sunday. Gate agent called for “Sky Priority” and 30 out of the 50 people boarded.
I think it’s also worth noting that Allegiant will not be flying Mesa -> GFK in September. I relied on that service to come home for a couple of football games.
Adding insult to injury with new Fargo flights, Swoop (WestJet subsidiary) is going to fly to Mesa and Orlando from Winnipeg this winter.
The GFK leadership has momentous task this winter to prevent further leakage.

When DigiKey started a Fargo distribution point, that was pretty telling. DigiKey must be the largest shipper in the region, and FedEx probably works closely with them. If DigiKey knew that FedEx was going to change their web and spoke system for the region, they would want to put it near the city that was the secondary spoke.
Grand Forks has a lot of eggs in the Grand Sky UAS park. Better hope they hatch.
I am thinking this had something to do with it, FedEx started using A300's and with shipping demand going up they probably wanted to fly in bigger planes but unfortunately GFK can't handle them. And the geniuses that decided to wedge an airport between sewage ponds and Highway 2 60 years ago made it so they couldn't extend the runway.

Great to see John Scott get a rousing reception in Nashville at the Skills Competition tonight.

And a lump of coal to the Arizona Coyotes. You just traded away a ton of free publicity ... in a market and team that lives in obscurity. You had a chance to build some good will ... and stubbed your toe.
So you saying that AZ should have kept Scott for a weekend of publicity instead of acquiring players that can help them make a playoff push? From a business standpoint I'll take the free publicity and ticket revenue in the spring over this weekend. John Scott isn't going to sell tickets in Phoenix but a winning team will.
Just for your knowledge the sports report down here goes as follows 1. Cardinals 2. ASU football/basketball 3. Suns 4. DBacks 5. GCU basketball 6. Glendale Arena Drama 7. Spring Training 8. (If they have time) Coyotes
I am for Scott and it is a cool story but I don't think fans would have flocked to the box office to see John Scott sit in the press box at Gila River Arena after the all- star break

Glendale bent over backwards for the Coyotes with that arena deal - a few years there and then they're gone. What a fuster-cluck that organization is. Bunch of carpet-baggers.
not exactly, the city not once but twice stabbed the Coyotes in the back by backing out of the Arena deal. A contract was signed by both parties and then when the city realized they signed a deal they couldn't afford they backed out. Now, they are cancelling the Arena management deal. Ownership has tried numerous times to negotiate in good faith with city but in the end their hands are tied. To quote ownership, "we want to stay but how long can you keep talking to a wall?"

Honest critique. It looks like a crow or raven. Too much black.
I agree too much black, I understand going for the school colors though. Maybe the feathers around the neck could throw back to the old logo?

i see what you're saying. But, in this context, it would be the UND teams aka Hawks, fighting as a group.... Nodaks don't traditionally group in packs and fight others, either.

And the band plays Stand Up and Cheer, I would pick the band's message over the Alerus.
It's an advertisement for the new UND Podcast titled "Sit Down & Cheer"

Does anybody know if RT O'Sullivans in Mesa AZ will be having a watch party? I've heard they have UND hockey games on there, so am hoping they will have the football game on this weekend.
Just confirmed with RT O'Sullivans on Stapley* that they will be the UND establishment. Lisa at the UND Almuni Assoc. is sending some swag which I will bring.
All UND fans in Phoenix are welcome!
*Superstition Springs is the NDSU watch party so make sure you've got the right green.

This is a college sports fan forum, so forgive me as I dip into the frivolous for a second. I just watched the walk out for Virginia Tech vs Ohio State. I hope we figure our walkout/hype video out. I personally have found it a little lack luster in the past. Man, that atmosphere looked sweet in Virginia tonight
Do you and Pole Vault Guy have that bus/van ready yet?
