  1. You're lashing out in contradictory directions to attempt to diminish an award that you don't like solely because it was given to Grand Forks. First you imply it just goes to whoever applies (until we point out that 100/700 got it), then you don't like the sponsor (before the crowd embarasses you with a demonstration of how legit this is), then you go on irrelevant tirade about employment for 25 year-olds in N.D. (at which time you finally actually go learn something about the award), then you lash out with your misperception of how you don't think two of the other world-class cities on the list meet one of the five criteria. You're making completely irrelevant posts that have no common theme other than attacks on (an admittedly hated by you) Grand Forks. You're only posting here to try to put down and Grand Forks and try to diminish an award because you don't like that it was given to Grand Forks. It's trolling, plain and simple, and yes, you are done.
  2. More info on the organization and the competition:
  3. Right. You have no first amendment right to post on message boards. Each time you post here, I pay a significant amount of money to store your post and then broadcast it. So, while the first amendment guarantees the government will not prevent you from saying whatever you want (you can stand on a street corner and say it), it doesn't compel a private party to pay to distribute your message (I'm not compelled to broadcast any post someone chooses to make any more than NBC is compelled to broadcast any videotape they receive). I'm not going to close this thread (yet) because I think this discussion is illuminating in some useful ways, but in general please don't drag conflicts from other message boards here.

    2007 schedule

Hopefully UND will release theirs soon, obviating the need for this exercise, but competitors have started releasing their schedules this weekend. So far, I haven't seen any from any of whom I expect the non-conference foes to be, but might as well get started with what we do know: Aug. 23 Humboldt State University Sept. 8 at Southern Utah University (I-AA) Sept. 15 Central Washington Sept. 22 at Western Washington Oct. 6 at Mankato Oct. 13 UNO Oct. 27 at Duluth Nov. 3 St. Cloud St Note that those are the inverse of the 2006 schedule, so it might be reasonable to guess: Sep. 29 Augustana Nov. 10 at USD Updates: Feb. 8 add CWU, Mar. 19 add SUU, Mar. 28 add Duluth/SCSU, Apr. 8 add Mankato, Apr. 19 add Humboldt St
  7. Commie's either getting smoked or about to get called for tripping in that shot Caps have been really off the last few weeks, worst road losing streak in years. Plus, this was the final game in a 4 game road trip, so it was nice to get the win against Carolina. We're definitely not as deep as Carolina, but when Semin and Kolzig are on, they can beat anybody. Clark's opening goal, which probably decided the game, was pretty lucky

  10. I've never had a doorman, but I once had some close friends who had a doorman. Since I was there 4 times a week or so, he eventually started recognizing me and letting me in without calling up (I'm sure he thought I just lived there). When Christmas came, I couldn't decide whether to tip him. He wasn't my doorman, but he thought he was.
  11. You tip the barista? I don't know why, but I just never do. It's not like I'm anti-tipping -- I tip bartenders, my barber, cabbies, I sometimes even tip flight attendants (you can get about half of them to take it on repeated tries), but I've just never thrown money in the "karma" jar at the coffee shop. Sorry to hijack the thread, but this is far more interesting than the UND haters' lame sequel to last Fall's forensic accounting misadventures.
  12. Even this far North, for the second weekend in a row, it was high 60s and I got to drive the convertible with the top down (a rarity in January). Unfortunately, my time on the correct side of that blue line seems to be coming to end. It's supposed to fall to 26F tomorrow night
  13. There are a lot of new security settings in the recent upgrade. I've been trying to balance convenience for users with the reality that malicious attackers are actively attempting to hijack the accounts of board members. Some of the rules, as I've attempted to configure them: * If you don't visit for 7 days, you're logged out (the documentation on this is somewhat conflicting, it wouldn't surprise me if you had to login every 7 days, whether you visit or not) * Your login can be used from multiple computers simultaneously (so checking at work shouldn't log you out from home) * Your "session" is tied to your IP address. If you visited the board from two different IP addresses via the same web browser within an hour, you will be logged out.

  15. Sorry about that folks. I didn't even notice the problem until someone dropped me an email, because the board appeared up until you actually tried to click into a topic. For the techies -- the index for the posts database table got corrupted, so had to be rebuilt from the post data.
  16. This is definitely one of those things likely to be appreciated by about 15 people total... if you understand everything on the RPI page but are frustrated by the lack of detail http://forum.siouxsports.com/uploads/emoticons/default_biggrin.png' alt=':D'>, the new RPI details pages (ex. UND page) are for you. Prompted by the changes in selection criteria, these updates better show how the RPI is calculated and how it's likely to change. A more thorough, though rambling, explanation is here.
  17. Awesome, thanks for the updates.

  19. That's a real shame. He really seemed to be playing well and otherwise getting his life to a good place this year, until the academic problems came to light. Hope he does ok for himself.
  20. Another Sioux penalty. 3 on 5.
  21. Yep, sorry, just cable. It's a Comcast channel, so wouldn't be carried by anyone other than Comcast cable. I was just surprised to have it in my lineup: 1) since I'd never heard of it & 2) outside New England
  22. I was just flipping channels and saw something named "CN8", which I'd honestly never noticed before. Apparently, I get the games on tv. Cool.
  23. Saw this article about Goehring on the front page of NHL.com just now: Goehring puts bad start behind him
  24. Oops, missed that. DaveK -- NDSUFREAK was referring to the previously discussed renaming of D-I divisions. I-AA has chosen to instead call itself the Football Championship Subdivision of D-I because some of its members were sick of their basketball and other teams being called I-AA (a moniker that should only apply to their football teams). I'm afraid that they'll quickly learn that a simple renaming won't confuse the public as to who's mid-major. To quote the NCAA memo:
  25. The NCAA considers NDSU to be D-II until they've finished their transition. Nonetheless, you're probably right that North Dakota won't budge much when the two D-II teams complete reclassifying to I-AA (or CS or whatever it's going to be called then). Montana, which arguably has very successful I-AA teams, is only #42 in college football to N.D.'s #44. I'm afraid that to rise to being one the 40 most important states in college football would require a bowl-eligible team.
