  1. Is that what you call that? That fight between Vanelli and McMahon was nothing more than McMahon being a giant baby because his Sioux were losing at home to the Gophers (again) 6-0 in the 3rd period at the time. I can certainly understand the frustration that comes from your arch rival owning a .666 win % in your own building, including TWO sweeps, not to mention winning the grand opening of the arena in front of Ralph himself and all his cronies. But starting that fight showed the true class of UND. The only thing that made it worth it was the fact that I was sitting in the front row right in front of the fight so I got an up close view of McMahon getting the snot beat out of him by a Gopher Freshman defenseman.

It is a hockey game, not a tea party! And two words and a name for you: HOLY CROSS and TYLER MCGREGOR!

  2. Devils looking really good right now. Hale getting some decent time, as did Zach.

After Madden got his hat trick, some dude threw his hairpiece (toupee) onto the ice. Plus there were a couple hundred hats. Good crowd, by the sounds of it on OLN.

he looked happy to have gotten it back though when they showed him on tv. I would have thought that he would have wanted to warm it up first unless they got it before it got too cold.

  3. There is also Kelly who is an 88 born who plays for the Winnipeg Thrashers midget team.

I knew there was another one. I was telling one of my friends that Travis had three brothers but I couldn't remember his name!

  4. whats the significance of this prospect game? or is it just guess who were talking about sort of thing?

The person who e-mailed them the right answer got some Wayne Gretzsky dvd or was it a game? I can't remember which one but it was a Gretzsky thing.

  5. I'll try to paraphrase the interview:

HF: Was it tough to choose between college and major juniors

JT: Wasn't sure what he wanted to do until the last minute and looked at the pro's and cons. Talked with friends. Very tough decision. He liked being a student-athlete and wanted to continue.

HF: Why did you choose North Dakota

JT: It's two hours from home, easy for his parents to watch. Likes the coaches and great opportunities. Had 8 or 9 guys that he gelled with that went to Shattuck.

HF: What's it like playing with Lee, Stafford, Zajac, 1st round picks?

JT: Sort of Nervewracking in the summer last year and wanted to try his best to get ice time. Thinks he earned his ice time. Helps when you have older guys to teach you.

HF: What expectations did you have for the year?

JT: I view myself as an offensive player who can play both ends of the rink and be a reliable player. From the start of the season til christmas he wanted to score about a point per game. After the WJC's I had a great rest of the season. He exceeded his expectations.

HF: What type of role will you take next year since Zajac is gone?

JT: As a young guy this year all he had to do is go out and play. He wants to have a bit more of a leadership role and make big plays and get physically bigger and stronger.

HF: Coming out party was at the U-17's, and won Tournament MVP. How much did that tournament help?

JT: It was a great experience. First time wearing the Canada Jersey. Had a good team. One of those tournaments where all the best players your age are there. Tons of players that will be playing in the NHL were there. He met a lot of good friends there.

HF: Same with the world juniors? What did you think of your role there?

JT: It was such a good time. Nobody expected us to go that far. They believed in themselves. Everyone expected US and Russia in the gold medal but they stuck to what Coach Sutter told them to do. They stuck together and played their roles. It is his best hockey memory so far.

HF: Are you excited that you can have 1 or 2 more trips to the WJC's?

JT: Looking forward to it next year. May not be the same since it won't be in Canada, but I'm looking forward to it.

HF: How would you describe your style of play?

JT: He loves to score and set goals up. Work hard in the corners. I'm not a big hitter but I want to work on that. I want to take care of business in the defensive end.

HF: I saw you were a +20 this year.

JT: I had to be much more responsible the second half of the season.

HF: Do you view your draft status as training motivation?

JT: Anything can happen on draft day. It definetely motivates me to keep working. I'm looking forward to it.

HF: Do you look at where you will end up, seeing where you will spend the next 10 or 20 years?

JT: Always dream of playing in the NHL but don't know where you're going. I am very excited and we'll see what happens.

HF: You were born and raised in Winnipeg, was it tough to see the Jets leave when you were young.

JT: I was always a big fan of Wayne Gretzky and when the Kings would come to town I would love to watch. So it's too bad when they left.

HF: Who do you think will win the Stanley Cup.

JT: Maybe Calgary, Detroit, or Carolina.

HF: Thanks for doing this Jonathan.

    JT: No problem, my pleasure.

Comment from the interviewer-"He already interviews better then most NHL'ers"

That sounds about right with what he said, and the prospect was Drew Stafford.

  6. Also they have had this "pick the prospect" game going on where they give hints, and after two hints i'm almost positive it's Drew Stafford. They said "He was taken in the first round, his team that drafted him is still alive, and he has played 3 years in the NCAA"

The last clue was something about being a top 15 pick for something in 2004 and just weeks ago led his team to the Frozen Four, so you could be right.

  7. The Wild only want MInnesota kids? News to me. I thought they only wanted defensive players and other teams' rejects. Never knew I was wrong. Good to know.

Ok, we all know that they don't want just Minnesota kids cause they took Irmen who is a ND boy!

  8. 5-1.

Game out of hand. Hits and fights since game is over. Madden took a run at Jagr, missed him, clobbered his own guy Martin. I love it.

I wish I was watching but since the nbc is stupid and showing me the colorado vs. dallas game. I guess i have to be happy that it is still hockey.

  9. Lee is OK....but Christ, there's at least a couple times a game where the puck is like a hand grenade and he doesn't want to get anywhere near it....I think he will get much better, he's got all the tools, I just wish he had a little more Commodore/Greene/Archie in him....Kill'em all!!!!

I, too wish that Brian could pick up a little bit more defensively. However, you can't expect him to be like Greene because they are different players and Matt was HUGE! I could see Joe being a bit more like Matt Smaby or Greene, but I think Brian might get creamed if he did some of the things that they did.

  10. 206 NHL PLAYOFFS, sioux players in playoffs

edmonton, matt greene (was a healthy scracth tonight i believe)

    nashville, greg johnson

new jersey, zach parise and david hale (not sure if hale will crack the lineup)

    carolina, mike commodore

    i believe this is it...

ona side note, i know hes not a foremer sioux but i didnt know jake moreland is in the AHL with milwaukee. good for him. it shows he played 0 games during the season so thats odd that hes the backup...ok, just looked him up on hockeydb.com he played in the ECHL with stockton and went 14-19-8. so they must have needed a emergency backup for the playoffs..

I had wondered why I didn't see Matt in the lineup for Edmonton last night. Thanks for the info. By the way, in case anyone forgot. The Devils play at 3pm et. today.

  11. I know for a fact that some of them do actually attend class. I have close friends who have class with them and I have seen them leaving class. I am not saying that Drew does or doesn't but given the evidence of the rest of them I would say yes.

  12. It looks like it could be a very long summer.

that depends. it could be long or it could be short. That entirely depends on how the draft goes. And whether or not we decide to be nice to each other for awhile.
