  1. Is the women's team like the men's where the team votes on who gets a C and who gets an A? Did the coaches decide?
  2. Yes, the coverage in the cities is a little ridiculous, but no more than the Joe Mauer went grocery shopping which I swear is breaking news everytime to some people. When a thread is a place to discuss what affects UND fans, yes this is the appropriate place....you don't like it....don't read it.
  3. A lot of Sioux fans are fans of the Vikings and there is a small guy by the name of Jim Kleinsasser, perhaps you might have heard of him? He went to UND.
  4. All I was saying is that they do not have to if they don't want to and that Kelley and Faison can't force them too. I believe that they would revisit it, but they do not have to. I also thought that they would let the tribes vote and work with the tribes, but those didn't really happen either.
  5. Two things. First, the SR tribal council had and still has time per the settlement, they have until November. The SBoHE is the one that pulled the rug early. Second, Kelley and Faison can go back to the SBoHE to try and get it reversed. But, the SBoHE does not have to revisit the issue if they do not see the need to, they are the bosses in this case.
  6. As much as I would like to see it play out, I don't see that happening. Too much would have to happen in such a short time, and unfortunately...even if they do vote to keep it, Faison and Kelley can't do a thing about it if the SBoHE doesn't want to revisit it. And before anyone says that they could make them, no they can't. The Board is Kelley's boss, he can NOT tell them what to do. He can advise them on what he thinks is in the best interest of the University in the LONG run, but it is up to them to make the final decision.
  7. Just an update on Mandi Schwartz, that I thought you might be interested in seeing Yale Daily News This article has an address where cards can be sent for Mandi as well as info on becoming a donor. Another Article
  8. Ice Arena Man was talking about tickets for the Frozen for which is the NCAA tourney. The Final Five is the WCHA tourney, which the post also mentioned.
  9. I get what you are saying but just to point out..it is still the Final Five in St. Paul. The name of it did not change, the name now refers to the number of games being played and not the amount of teams at the tournament.
  10. the year that Adam Burish and his sister were both seniors(?)..i know that they both played for Wisco that year.
  11. Agreed, you never know what others will come up with. I was just trying to be as logical as I could. I will try it a different way though. No one is saying that the United Center would have to remove their logos or cover them up if the NCAA held an event there. What they are saying, if I have this right, is that it would be hypocritical or not in keeping with their current ruling that a place of competition can not or should not "host" an NCAA even when they have hostile and abusive imagery and then to choose a different venue with similar imagery to hold such an event.
  12. They don't hold them in a stadium, the swimming events are at the Hyslop at the pool which holds a couple hundred people iirc. Second, the 2000 hockey national championship was an option, they lost out in the semi-finals, i believe.....this was something that the Athletic Dept ran after asking Sioux Fans to submit what they thought was the Best of the 2000s and then asking them to vote.
  13. Now, just to let me see if I understand this whole disagreement here. I believe that The Sicatoka point was that for the NCAA to hold an NCAA sponsored event at the United Center could possibly be deemed hypocritical due to the similar imagery that is there and at the Ralph, where the NCAA has said that they won't hold an event. Correct, so far? Now, if what i can figure out from only reading half of the conversation...MPLSBison disagrees because the NCAA can not control the United Center or their affiliatied organization, the Blackhawks and states that it is an apples to oranges discussion because of this. Am I still correct? Now, assuming that the above info is correct....then the discussion of controlling the teams is irrelevant because you aren't talking about controlling the teams or the buildings...the main part of this disagreement is where the NCAA "hosts" (via certain teams) an event sponsored by them. This is something that they control making it both logical and reasonable to separate the teams and the buildings because the NCAA holds events in buildings that house professional teams. Looking at both sides and all of the information that I can figure out so far, I would have to agree with The Sicatoka....it could be deemed hypocritcal because the NCAA is saying that it will not allow an event to be hosted in one building that has "hostile and abusive" imagery, but would allow it to be held in a building with similar imagery. Does that make sense to anyone else?
  14. the band is going to USD this year for sure. Nowhere else as far as they know at the moment.
  15. I have been getting emails about it since June sometime(?). I think that it was sent out via email to the people that are signed up for the emails from fightingsioux.com. Or if you went to the athletic home page.

  17. Given that its the WCHA and anything can happen...this is my prediction: UND, UW, UAA, BSU, MTU, MSU-M, UMD, SCSU, CC, DU, UNO, and UM will finish anywhere from 1st to 12th place. At least one team that we don't think will get it, will get home ice in playoffs. At least one team that we don't think will get to it, will get to the Final Five. And finally at least one team that we don't think will make the tournament, will make the tournament.
  18. If you would like to read the settlement and its appendices, they are available at the website linked below. And FYI for anyone wondering, most court records are open to the public and any discussion the SBoHE had on the nickname should be as well via ND's open meeting laws. AG's website about the settlement
  19. I have a question, I don't know who you would even contact about this...but any chance that we could recognize Perry and his fight at the first home hockey game of the season...exhibition or otherwise? I kinda think that would almost be a good idea every year to recognize the former players who have passed on...but my original idea was for Perry. Edit: I did facebook a friend to see if he knew who to contact or what he thought about it....I will let you know what he says.
  20. Update: It came across Twitter and facebook that Karl is being announced as the new director of the Hockey Academy. As for assistant coaching, Brad believes that we are only allowed one volunteer coach and that Koberinski is doing that...but he was unsure.
  21. Word from another blog on the Herald's website is that Goehring is returning to UND and working for the Hockey Academy and serving as a volunteer goaltending coach for the Sioux. I asked Schlossman what he has heard about this, will let you know what he says. The link to the blog is below. Reggie Tales
  22. Is that the road that goes by Joe and Ana Moose?
  23. No, they said that they are finding other people to run it in GF and Berry is staying involved in the operations as much as he can. As for Finley, he had surgery in November on his hand....in late May/early June, he was about 2-3 weeks from skating and shooting with everything again...but the surgery went well.
  24. there we go! I knew that I had heard about it on here during the Olympics and I couldn't remember where....thanks GeauxSioux.
  25. Wasn't there another current UND student in the Olympics? On the curling team?
