I agree. I was just being smart that maybe the NC$$ should pull their head out and award the Midwest and West Regionals for 2010 and 2011 like they have for the NE and East. BD
-
Just wondering how large Nortons head is? I'm thinking it is a size 8 - 8 1/2 hat? Also, what happened to the ESPN anchor winner that worked at ESPNU? Did he finish his contract and they cut him loose? BD
-
Attendence didn't suck in GF two years ago!!! BD

Another PP for JBSU BD
-
You are not missing much the game is a little slow. Clarkson is getting the better of JBSU so far bu they can't finish. The attendence is pathetic! I have not seen any fans of either college yet. Looks like a bunch of fans of hockey in general. Red Frog I heard Proz has ESPNU. I would head up there and catch the game with Dickie P. BD

I knew he took a hard hit but I had not heard that he suffered a concusion. Was this released? BD

I am not 100% sure I will get all of them but here goes. Michigan Michigan State Northern Michigan Michigan Tech Notre Dame Tech, MSU and UM were all original members of the MCHL (Midwest Collegiate Hockey League) along with Denver, MN, UND & CC. I attached an article below that gives a good history of the WCHA (originally MCHL). BD History of the WCHA by Kurt Stutt/special to USCHO The WCHA was born as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey League in 1951 by Colorado College, Denver, Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech, Minnesota and North Dakota. After two seasons, the league changed its name to the Western Intercollegiate Hockey League, which more aptly described its geographical location. The league was the dominant force in college hockey throughout the 1950s, winning all but the 1954 NCAA Championship. Michigan won six titles in that decade alone. But in 1958 the conference broke up, due to a disagreement over recruiting practices. Minnesota and all three Michigan schools accused Denver, North Dakota and Colorado College of recruiting overage Canadians. This practice did not violate the league's (or the NCAA's) rules, but was not in the spirit of the league. In the end, the four 'M' schools would withdraw from the league. As a consequence, there was no league play during the 1958-59 season. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) was officially founded in 1959. All the schools agreed that the lack of a league hurt Western college hockey. This time, though, it would be a more informal association, allowing schools to schedule whatever opponents they wanted. Denver and Minnesota, still bitter over the previous year's feud, did not schedule each other and would not meet on the ice for over a decade. The next seven seasons were dominated by Michigan Tech and Denver, who won four and three league titles, respectively. The conference expanded, adding Minnesota-Duluth in 1966, Wisconsin in 1969 and Notre Dame in 1971. The 1960s and 1970s would see overwhelming WCHA superiority in NCAA play, with the conference winning all the NCAA titles except for 1967, 1970-72 and 1978. The WCHA became more formal in 1973, when the league office assumed all conference scheduling. A plan was passed in 1979 to split the conference into two divisions as a cost-cutting move, but was rescinded three months later. Then, in 1981, Michigan, Michigan State, Michigan Tech and Notre Dame all defected to the CCHA. The loss of Michigan Tech was a double blow, as they took the MacNaughton Cup, presented to the WCHA Champion every year, along with them. The WCHA survived as a six-team league, then expanded again in 1984 when Michigan Tech returned (with the MacNaughton Cup), and brought Northern Michigan with them. The same year saw the start of an interlocking schedule with Hockey East, which lasted for five seasons. All inter-conference games counted in each conference's standings. Recent developments saw the adoption of a single-site final four (later, five) format for the tournament, starting with 1988 in St. Paul. St. Cloud State joined as the conference's ninth member in 1990. Northern Michigan won the 1991 NCAA Tournament and North Dakota won the 1997 tournament, the 30th title for the WCHA. Alaska-Anchorage became the tenth conference member in 1993-94, the same season that Colorado College won the first of three consecutive league titles, the first team to do so and their first titles since the 1956-57 season. Following the end of the 1996-97 season, Northern Michigan departed the WCHA, rejoining the CCHA. Mankato State participated in the WCHA tournament for the first time the following season. In 1998, Mankato State was voted in as the league's newest member, beginning play in the fall of 1999.

I agree with your idea but I don't believe this is the time of year to use it. That pholosophy works best throughout the grind of a season. Now in the playoffs with all the TV timeouts and stops in play a coach can and often does shorten their rotation to 3 lines. And the 3rd line is often a rotation of the 3rd and 4th lines used throughout the regular season. I am all for having our "horses" or Big "DOGs" on the first two units (including defense). I would not move Genoway out of his position because it allows him to control the game more from the point and I love his game back there. My lines would look as follows: Forwards Duncan, Oshie, Kozek Watkins, VW, Kaip Martens, Miller, Frattin Defense Chorney & Bina Genoway & Finley Marto & LaPoint I would rotate the 3rd unit in periodically and would probably play them individually with one of the first four. Just MYO BD

I think the point of the initial thread was not to discuss the reasoning of our arguments on the subject. It was "why do we care". I would agree with Goon in that adds some fun to the ribbing of friends of other teams. Most of the time it adds to the experience at games, watching tv, etc. with friends of other teams. There are times when it gets out of hand and ruins the whole thing. I don't know if that helps? BD

Didn't notice it until you pointer it out. I love Trupp. In fact every year I kind of find myself picking a new favorite player and Trupper was that guy right away. That being said his game is very similar to Duncs. He doesn't add the physical presence that they need. Speaking of acronyms I liked OlD Time Hockeys DOG line. I'm thinking we could either have them skate out to "Bark at the Moon" by Ozzie or "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth. Either way works!!!

So you are saying that Jan Brady State is going to win a game? BD

The recent play of Gerbe has just given the INCH and USCH staff something to write about. This award is already done and everyone knows it. At the start of the year there were three players named most often when discussing the Hobey. Oshie, Gerbe and Porter. Of the three Porter is the only one who stayed out of trouble. His stats are better (not a better player than the other two) and he plays for the top team in the country. The rest is window dressing. Lastly, BC has had a very rough year until the last 3 weeks and there is no way that another Sioux player gets the Hobey until 2027. BD

For me it is Kozek but then again I have been pimpin him all year. I don't see what Miller brings on a regular basis. The comments earlier were dead on. He shows flashes of offensive brilliance and then he is slacking (for lack of a better word) and out of the play for extended periods. Disagree with breaking up the second line. They are the most consistent line we have. Here is what I see with the 2nd line: Best defensive unit we have against other teams top lines Excellent at establishing offensive zone possesion and cycling the puck Nice physical presence in every game All around most consistent line we have had all year. Lastly, Oshie and Kozek on the same line is like having two tazmanian (spelling ?) devils on the same line. They are always flying around creating things. Maybe Hak thinks Miller brings more of a balanced feel to the line. Who knows. I just hope Miller shows up like he did in Duluth when Trupp got hurt and not like he did in St. Paul. Also, Hak must not be completely convinced either way because he was switching them around throughout the Final 5. BD

The problem is that alot of people can't get these games because our Internet Providers have not agreed to show this stuff. Seems to me that this the same BS that goes on with NFL network, Big Ten network, etc.. I hope we find a way to have the game televised live. Does ESPN have exclusive rights?

I have been reading all the entries and share some of the same thoughts as many have already expressed. IMO the game was won/lost on UND not capitalizing on the PP and Tech doing so. Other than that it was a normal March College Hockey game (particularly in the WCHA). I do not feel that the Sioux let them win. The bounce at the end of regulation was frustrating but s*** like that happens every year in March. And it happens to teams that do well in the postseason and teams that do not. To draw a parallel about the rest of the year based on one event or even one game is not accurate. The bottom line is that the Sioux are now in a tough spot in relation to making the conference tournament. They already have a spot in the big dance but that spot will get worse depending on their results tommorow and possibly next weekend. They will be playing a "desparate team" with a good defense and goaltender for the right to play in St. Paul. Outside of that most of the stuff spewed in here for the last hour has been venting by people frustrated with the outcome. Don't get me wrong I am pissed off that they did not end the series. But lets all settle down and realize that this team is FAR from finished for the year. Go have a beer (or two) and get ready for tommorow night. I expect a good game tommorow with the Sioux winning 3-1. Also, lets keep it civil and realize that we are fans of a great program that offers us entertaining hockey year in and year out this time of year. Most hockey fans do not have this privedge. BTW CC wins the game 2 mninutes into OT. BD

DU won 1-0 and won the series 2-0.
-
CC & UAA going to OT.
-
CC ties it at 2 15 minutes left in the game.

If anyone recorded the game they should look at the one shift the Oshie played in the 2nd period. After he shot the puck and the SCSU goalie covered it up he turned behind the net. When he was turning he did not put any weight on his inside leg (right). His foot was actually barely touching the ice. I know it is speculation but it appeared like he had issues with that leg/ankle. Did anyone else notice this? On a positive note I do not think they would have let him try to go if the injury was too serious.

Dawgs get a PP goal. Up 3-1 thru 2.
-
Tech up 3-0 in the 2nd.

Click on the link below: http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.d...p;ATCLID=777152 There are different subscription packages available by year and month. I think the cost is $9-10 for a month and $60 for the year. I would suggest that you get the yearly subscription as the quality is very good (not what HD is but 95% of what regular tv quality is) and you can get the games anywhere that has high speed access. We actually hook the computer up to the TV and watch the games on the 36" Tube. Eventually I am going to get the satellite like alot of the people on this site. But I will never get rid of the online subscription. It is too convenenient. Have fun. BD

I am Norwegian. But the spelling error has more to do with the time of the day. Now that I see it I like it so I'm going to stick with Playoofs. Can't wait for the dem dare playoofs!!! BD

Current Standings Colorado College 41 North Dakota 38 Denver 33 Minnesota State 28 St. Cloud State 27 Wisconsin 27 Minnesota 25 Minnesota Duluth 21 Michigan Tech 20 Alaska Anchorage 12 Locked in matchups CC vs AA Other potential matchups UND vs Tech/Duluth Denver vs Tech/Duluth MSU/UMtc/SCSU/UW (this area is a mess) My predictions 4 - MSU 5 - UW 6 - SCSU 7 - Goofs Sweeney said that UW holds the tiebreaker over SCSU so the Huskies have alot to play for tommorow. They can be anywhere from the 4 seed to the 7 seed (I am not sure how they fair in the tiebreak with the Goofs and Mavs). Someone with a better knowledge of the tiebreakers needs to fill in the gaps. Come on Goon you probably have all the scenarios figured out already. Fill in the masses! Thanks. BD
