  1. Panzer was very special but I had to vote for Roche. He was the best offensive D-Man that I have ever seen at UND. I still talk about him and what it would have been like to see him stay more than 2 years. BD
  2. Your argument is changing as the facts come out. First you state he got all his goals because of whom he played with. When that is debunked you move to next line of defense. He will be a target next year. If you really believe one of these things you should defend it and not just turn and run to another excuse. In this argument it is fairly easy to see that I completely disagree with you. Kozek has a NHL shot already. he is learning to get it off in traffic and more effeciently. Also, his skating has improved alot and he brings a physical presence unlike the majority of players with his skill. In fact he is the closest this team will get to the total package of TJ Oshie for a long time. Your statements about his positioning in the defensive zone and neutral ice are a reach at best. No of us sat in the team meetings or knows how the team wants to operate in those areas. We may have our opinions but we are not sure unless we were in there. Which we were not. So to point out that he was in the wrong spot is simply stating an opinion and not a fact. I am already on record that Kozek will lead the team next year in scoring. http://forum.siouxsports.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry314985 BD
  3. Agree with most every thing you stated. My point was that someone was worried about a posters feelings but does't worry about ripping a player. Even though the majority of the rips made on this board (and others) are by people who understand very little about the game. I agree that the opinions expressed in these posts are not shared by the majority of Sioux fans. It is frustrating to see this type of stuff brought up because it takes away from a very successful year and program. I don't mind constructive discussion about what they could do better, etc.. I just think that too many fans believe it is a given that we will win every year. It takes alot of luck on top of all the other intangibles to win the Championship. In a one and done tournament often the best team doesn't win. Also, less than 10% of these players will ever make it in the NHL. That is not an opinion it is a fact. BD
  4. Sure glad that nobody looked at me as a ROLE MODEL OR PUBLIC FIGURE when I was that age. Get off your high horse and realize that they are college age kids even before they are great athletes. I am not excusing them I just don't think they should be held to a higher standard because society values their skills. BD
  5. Why are you worreed about a few posters if you are not worried about the players? The posters on this borad (my guess) are older than the players they are criticizing. That part is always frustrating to me. THEY ARE KIDS!!! Most of the people who participate on this board do not have a clue what it takes to get to this level. Appreciate their dedication and drive, remeber they are kids and enjoy the hell out of the success of the program. I am not against the passion as all of us lives and dies with the Sioux but use some disceretion before you start a post attacking a player, etc.. I believe the moderateors should weed out this S____! BD
  6. Lets hold the mayo there. He had a phantom call on ND late in the game. It proved to be nothing but it could have amounted to the difference in the game. Other than that I did not remeber any really poor calls. Hoever, I still think the lack of consistent referees between the leagues and the quality of our referees is a major problem for the WCHA and to a lesser extent the NCAA. BD
  7. Couldn't agree more!! Nicely stated. BD
  8. Looks like Anderson got tired of not being noticed in this game and decided to make a phantom call on Notre Dame. Typical s___ call from a WCHA ref. BD
  9. Fixed your post
  10. Isn't there some club hockey or something that you can go watch? Get lost. BD
  11. I don't think many of us will be able to sleep very well for a while. Atleast the last two years the clawed back to make it a game. This year they just fell flat. This has to be one of the worst feelings I have ever had as a Sioux fan. Oh well up again tommorow and looking out to who we can sign, who stays, etc.. We will all be back next year. BD
  12. off topic Just when I think the night can't go any more wrong they prop the bubble head up between periods. Send Norton to the showers. BD
  13. I apologize if I misunderstood. My point is that the current staff is about as good as it gets IMO. They bring in good talent every year and they coach that talent up to a consistently high level. And occasionaly they sign a very top end talent. Also, they have not recruited a top end kid who was a one and done. That is becoming a nice bonus for UND and I have to think it is because of the work the coaches do behind the scenes creating the team atmosphere, etc.. BD
  14. Toews signed on Jauary 1st, 2005 Oshie signed on February 4th, 2004 Duncan signed on December 18, 2003 My point is that Hak and Eades headed up the recruiting for Blais. Just like Eades and Jackson head it up right now for Hak. I just think we are in good hands and I remember Blais recommended this group. BTW ND is up 3-0 over Michigan with 35 secons left in 1st period. Seems eerily familiar BD
  15. Oh really. Well I will bet that you don't know when any of the three I listed were recruited. Go to Chris Hs site and see if you can find the 2004/2005 list and send back your response. The answer is that Hak recruited them. So your point was what Buddy? BD
  16. Think you are being overly optimistic with only Two players leaving early. IMO Finley is gone. Everything about him screams I am going pro. He accelereates his schooling to get to the next level Big D-men take time to mature Most NHL teams like to mold their D-men in the minors for a decent amount of games/seasons Duncan, I think its about a 50/50 and we will know fairly soon. I hope you are right about all this. BD
  17. Hak inherited the team that had just lost Zach and Bo to the pros after losing 1-0 in CC to Denver. There were alot of good players left from Blais but Hak & Co added some very nice players (Toews, Oshie, Duncan, etc..). BD
  18. What is a coach going to do to help Finley gain more speed. Finley did not get burned on either of Gerbes first two goals and he was not on the ice for the thrid one that was put in the roof of the net. First was Genoway missing the puck and stumbling to create a 2 on 1 and the second was Genoway (fairly certain) that over committed and allowed Gerbe to get the puck in the open. From their it is a race and Gerbe wins every time. So by my count the only thing you can blame on Hack & Co for is recruiting a big physical d-men. Which by the way is one of the main things most Sioux fans always want. They hated Lee because he was finesse and they hate Finley because he lumbers. What F____ can they do. Not every play that comes to the Sioux is Jonny Toews. Most have flaws. The coaches help to correct the flaws and put players in good situations. But that becomes harder as the year goes on and you face better competition. I understand frustration over a loss like this. I know the f---ingheimer was flying around the house quite a bit earlier. But I think calling for the coaches head is way over the top. This group is top notch. Others may not share that viewpoint but IMO those people are just plain spoiled from all the success that Hak & Co have had recently. They forget that Gino and Blais had down years. In fact Gino had a down decade. BD
  19. Settle down. The coaches can onmly help put the players in position. They don't win or lose the games. BTW if Hack and Company did not recruit and coach these guys you wouldn't get to watch them go to the Frozen Four. This thread should be shut down. BD
  20. My 4 year old is still playing hockey like we are going to win as well. Oh for the ignorance of youth!! BD
  21. If it was so bad then don't watch. Seems like that act of god take place every year at the same time of the season. I understand being p____ Off! I know that I am and sick this s___. But to take cheap shots at players that have been key components of the past few years highly successful teams is IMO not cool. BD
  22. Thought the GLI takes place over the Holidays? Seems to me that we can't do both the Harvard trip and the GLI. There is usually an off weekend in the month of December and SCSU is scheduled (according to this post) for December 12th weekend. Also, didn't we just complete our arrangement with Harvard a few years ago. Somebody out there with more knowledge about this stuff please help me out. BD
  23. Agreed. There is no way this event is leaving the X any time soon. It is the most logical place for the games because it is the most centrally located facility that can handle the fans, etc.. Also, the WCHA and Teams love the cash that comes from this event. I believe every team in the league gets financial benefit from the attendence and no other location can match the attendence level they are currently achieving in St. Paul. The Goofs do get a home ice advantage but that is a small issue to fans only. Just listen to comments from Coaches and the WCHA Commissioner. McLeod actually was quoted saying that the WCHA office was concerned about attendence at this years event if the Goofs did not make it. It is the best event in College Hockey. The Frozen Four doesn't draw as well as the Final 5. I know they sell out but half the people don't show up. The X is almost always packed for every game. If it ain't broke don't fix it!! BD
