  1. I own a hockey stick. I was going to kick your ass anyway.
  2. I don't think Sprig meant to play that joke but same here. That subject scared the heck out of me.
  3. For all the grief gopher fans give Blais and praise and reverence they heap on Lucia, let's compare how the 2 handle their players who are in a position to leave early. Seems to me generally Blais is talking up their abilities. Even last year Lucia was saying "we don't have anybody ready to go pro". Wonder if he watched any New Jersey games this year. If I remember correctly Lucia complained that Martin took so long to make a decision, yet maybe had he encouraged Martin a little more maybe Martin would have made that decision a little more timely. Lucia would be an idiot to come out and say Vanek isn't ready to move on and he knows it. But his comments are hardly an endorsement either. Ok, I admit it. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but that's the way it looks on the surface. If you have pro aspirations, you have to ask yourself which of these coaches is going to help you move on to the next level?
  4. After seeing the high number of sticks breaking at bad times you wonder if the article is right and that we'll start seeing more wood sticks again. I remember watching the replay of the Final Five championship game and Potulny's stick broke on a shot right under the handle and Woog was pretty critical that anyone would use a stick that would break that easily.
  5. http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/4781608.html I could become a big fan of the Marquette University Warriors.
  6. If he can play decent defensively he'll be a solid contributor next season. Can't wait to see him on the ice.
  7. They are from the article linked by CVCL above.
  8. Yep, as it might be expected, he got while the getting was good:
  9. As you all know I am an expert hockey talent scout and have no fan affiliations and I also feel Matt would be best served to stay in school at least 1 more year. Note the "at least".
  10. Yikes, doesn't bode well for next year for the Sioux, does it...
  11. Milbank. Ahhhhh. My old home town. I'm quite aware of the next baby recruit, who, by the way, will come from Milbank. Just strapped on the skates last winter for the first time. His old man was the only goalie Milbank has ever seen. In fact, how does a 0.00 GA and 100% svs % sound? Mind you, there was only one skater in Milbank in the late 70's and early 80's. He was lonely out there. Cold and lonely.
  12. Those line combos are classic. I never paid much attention to that poster but now I know why he got his rep.
  13. Welcome Spirko! Will be fun to see this class on the ice.
  14. I'll bet there's no Mother Anna's.
  15. Like I said over on USCHO, gophers finally tap western Canada and Blais taps the hotbed of Georgia. Once again, leaving the competition one step behind.
  16. Holy Smokes. These guys must really get tired of Dahl or something.

  18. At one of the Sioux booster lunches I think it was reported that Blais mentioned that James had not only started out the year with a nasty injury but that he had some off-ice "distractions" that were keeping him from performing to his ability. What those were is anyone's guess.
  19. More info on the Conboy situation. DBSearle this one does appear to be somewhat similar to the Fournier situation, doesn't it? Conboy's teammates wanted him gone
  20. I don't know who should be A or C and I agree with the Sicatoka's perspective on what you want from your C.
  21. jk, I was scoffing at first but as I read on I admit at the least you have an arguable position. I think Schneider picked it up at the end of the year. I'm not concerned about him next year. I thought Stafford suffered a lull in the middle but came on strong again at the end. Excited to see him next year. Massen lacked intensity too, I thought. I hope he can come back with a new effort next year. This year Zajac has been setting up a lot of Chucko's goals in SA. How nice would it be if Zajac was setting up Big James next year on a regular basis? I agree with jk on Canady. Though he played less I thought Brian played better than he had the previous 2 years. I think he has a chance to play regularly again next year. And I think other than 1 of 2 penalties I thought he did very well in that area. Prpich needs to cut down on some of the penalties. I agree with jk's position that in his first year I was very impressed with how he handled himself on the ice (even if other team's fans weren't) but this year I didn't like about 1/2 of his penalties. Prp would be one of my votes for captain IF he can still play with an edge but stay on the ice. Genoway showed stretches where he was outstanding and stretches where I thought he was barely noticeable. I don't think he plays a very "noticeable" game in the first place so maybe it's more me than him, but we need to see him consistently being a factor on the ice. A great improvement from the year before. If he can keep that progressing he'll have an excellent year next year. I grade this as a "good" year.
  22. I'm no expert but if it went in off a Canuck maybe they give the goal to the last Calgary player who touched the puck but don't give any assists. Maybe Woog was the scorer that night.
