Woog's going to be pissed.
-
It started with a strong hate for the Gophers.

I have to admit that jimdahl and mksioux's posts make some sense to me, it's just that I'm not quite ready to accept that that time has come. In the meantime, The Sicatoka's post reminded me of this Winston Churchill quote:
-
That's exactly what I was thinking.
-
Mr. Notermann posted on GPL earlier today looking for tickets with a pro-Sioux related name. I doubt he would subject himself to what he's getting if he was really a Gopher fan.
-
Your post reminds me of one of my favorite lines from the Princess Bride: "I don't think that link is what you think it is".

I don't think very many of us know the dynamics of what goes on in the locker room, or on the bench. Whether Hak was telling Jackson to ease up on Shep because he didn't want confrontation, or for some other reason we're not privvy to. I for one appreciate Bleedgrn's post, not because he offended me but I appreciate his candor. In my opinion there's no reason to boo an amateur player for not playing well. Maybe if they show unsportsmanlike behavior, but that's different than if they don't live up to our expectations. Hak felt he needed to spark the team. Oshie scored 22 seconds later, or something like that, right? Do we know that Hak's move didn't work? It didn't win the game, sure, but maybe it helped. Maybe it didn't. We don't know. Lammy played well the rest of the game. Not so sure why this is such a big deal. Lammy didn't lose the game. Hak's probably trying what he can to work through things. I doubt he wanted to pull Grieco either, but that's the way it is in hockey sometimes. Hak's not the first coach to pull a goalie to try and turn the rest of the team around. It's a tactic used by more storied coaches than Hak.

Massen was supposed to be a top line guy.

Walsh Hall: Mason and Canady did nothing in their careers at UND until the second half of their senior years when they were integral parts of a team that ran to the national championship game. That coincides with Hak's first year as the head coach. Go ahead and ignore the fact that Blais got almost nothing out of them for 3. Jordan Parise did pretty well under Hak too, if I remember. Until he emerged do you remember how stable our goalie situation was since Karl left?

He was channeling Yoda.

Sorry to reply to myself, but I wanted Shep's quote in this post. NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Maybe if I saw the replay again we'd see a Tech player "control and possess" the puck while in the crease. Maybe he tapped it across the crease to a buddy, or something. Most likely, however, is possession and control of the puck happened when the Tech player grabbed the puck, with his hand, in the crease, thereby committing a penalty.
-
I'm trying to remember, but I think they called a cross-check or something.
-
I thought this sounded fairly reasonable (in explanation for last night's non-call), until I thought to myself, if a team commits a penalty in the course of bringing about a whistle stopping play for a delayed penalty, shouldn't that penalty also be called?
-
Not getting the penalty shot seems to be just the way things are going for this team.
-
VandeVelde pretty much ripped his shoulder out of its socket trying to free his stick from the Tech player. PP Sioux. Gotta make this count. Earlier, what a nice play off the face-off by Porter Watkins and Kozek to create a great chance low but denied by Nolan.
-
Great work by Watkins and Oshie on the kill to create a threat. Oshie is really having a good game.
-
Credit for the 2nd goal is BACK to Oshie. I'll bet Wooger is checking to see if Oshie still gets credit for the 2nd assist. BTW. who is Jim Scanlon. He seems to do a pretty good job as the color guy.
-
Hak made a couple of changes in the lineup tonite, and maybe pulling Grieco wasn't so much because Grieco wasn't playing well, but one of those things a coach does when he needs to get things changed up on the ice. Tech had just come from 1 down to take a 1 goal lead, and maybe Hak wanted to try anything to get the attention of the rest of the team. AND maybe this sends a message to everyone that he's got faith in Lammy as well as Grieco. Just speculating.

The Duncan Oshie Miller line is playing very well, but I think we need them to make some noise yet in this last period. If the Sioux can get some scoring from the lower lines I think they will win this game. Thing that still sticks in my craw is that MN handled Tech last week in Tech's rink. We're scratching and clawing. We've got a long way to go.
-
Goal now credited to Duncan. It was great work in front by Oshie to get the loose puck and feed it to an open Chorney for the shot. Keep Tech down for the rest of this period, and then win the 3rd. Penalty on Tech. Let's go!
-
More great work by Oshie's line, including Oshie, and he tips in a Chorney shot. 2-2.
-
Why is a Tech player standing all alone in front of Grieco?
-
Nice hustle and quickness by Forney almost results in a scoring attempt but Forney gets taken out by the stick of a Tech player. hmmm, no call. Then Radke gets a cross checking call.
-
Tech gets a 3-1 on the PK but Grieco stays strong and makes the stop.
