They bought an indian reservation in Miami which was originally a casino, then moved the whole university into the casino. Since its no longer in Fairbanks, they had to change the name. And there's already a University of Miami, so that's taken. The only thing left was University of Alaska. But I have a hunch they will be hearing from the NCAA about housing a university on a reservcasino without using a Native American nickname. Either that or they just decided to change the name.

Count me in for some green. I have kids who wear Sioux jerseys to school in the Twin Cities, so this hits close to home in a lot of ways.

I think the biggest difference between the team's play in November and the last month is in the defensive zone. We're making good decisions with the puck, quick solid passes or a clear to center if that's all that's available, and the result is opponents don't get set up in the zone. Undoubtedly, a team like CC would bring more pressure due to being the fastest team I've seen, but I don't think UAA will be able to sustain pressure if we play our game. Given that we aren't scoring much 5x5 (or giving up much 5x5, thankfully), it's going to come down to special teams. That becomes the area of focus going forward. I wouldn't be surprised to see some tweaking of the first and second PP units. Ideally, if we can get a lead this weekend, I'd like to see Marto and Lapoint get more ice time. That game experience is going to be valuable down the road, whether via an injury or next season.

On retrospective, I thought our whole D corps did a great job on the night keeping the puck out of our zone. They are making quick decisions, GOOD decisions, and not letting the other guys get set up. Also, our puck pressure was terrific. At times, even it meant 3 guys behind the goal line. Sorry I missed the Hak interview. My summaries are not as good as others anyway One last - 4 of the 5 biggest crowds ever at Mankato have been for Sioux games. Credit to the Sioux fan turnout, I think.
