What do you guys not understand?!! Having no nickname is NOT an option. It says so in the signed settlement agreement UND officials signed!! So you can forget about any ideas of just being "North Dakota." Not gonna happen!!! The sooner you realize this the better. It sucks, but deal with it. Welcome to reality!!
Does the agreement clearly state that removing FS/logo and adopting no nickname/ND (or interlocking symbol) is a violation and does not constitute having a "new" nickname/logo?
I don't recall that it does... explicitly.
If your nickname is "idiot stick" today, but tomorrow it's " ".... doesn't having "no" nickname when you previously "had" a nickname suggust you have a "new" nickname?
This is an exercise in the "letter of the law" v. the "spirit (or intent) of the law."
Not sure the current UND administrators have the balls to play that name game with the NCAA.

What else would you call an organization of traitors who took up arms against their own country because they felt they were going to no longer be able to enslave an entire race of people? Like it or not, slavery in this country was every bit as ugly as the holocaust and other atrocities all across the world. Our country should be ashamed of that past and it's a joke that we have an entire part of this country celebrates that part of our history

Yes, the Taliban is an evil, terroristic organization and they will go down in history as such. So are the Ku Klux Klan, Operation Rescue, Timothy McVeigh's Militia organization, the Nazi's, and the Confederacy yet no one assumes that every White Christian male has common cause with them. I'm assuming you have nothing to do with any of the organizations above, much like all of the Muslims I know have nothing to do with the Taliban or Isis.
You're right that internet bigotry isn't on par with fire bombing schools, but it also doesn't make it right and personally I'd set a higher bar for personal behavior than being a better person than members of the Taliban.
The Confederacy? Huh? McVeigh wasn't a militia member.

The USG has not catered to the Islamists in Nigeria... The USG designated Boko Haram a terrorist organization in November 2013, which allowed the USG several new opportunities to assist the region fight the group; mainly financial tools, but some other direct action ones as well. BH wouldn't exist without its catalyst--corrupt government. Our (USG) main concern with Nigeria is its human rights actions, or lack thereof. The Leahy Vetting requirements has made it very difficult to coordinate/collaborate with some Nigerian goverenment organizations. As for using drones in northern Nigeria....let's just say it isn't Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, or Afghanistan.... You have find and fix before finishing.

Sad situation. Over-reaction by military force on students. A little better response by police could diffuse situation. But students are being clearly rounded up like cattle. I believe on keeping order but this could have gotten ugly.
Disagree. The idiots were told two days in advance not to gather, that the police would be out in force, yet, they did it anyway. The perfect and appropriate response by the MPD. Personally, I would have enjoyed seeing some more head busting and pepper spraying.

As big of a deal winning 3 straight FCS FB NCs is...nothing gets a "small" school exposure like the NCAA BB tourney does.

Is that what this is about... selling t-shirts and hats? I'm sure having no name is a challenge, but certainly not insurmountable. Shouldn't the debate be about UND the institution, and not some perhaps ridiculous catch phrase and print that accomodates so sales in book stores increase?
