I TOTALLY agree here!! Latvia's "star" player, Sandis Ozolinsh had 2 assists today. This was his first game since NOVEMBER. He had been sidelined with a knee injury and then was in the league's substance abuse program. He wasn't reinstated until Tuesday. I guess on the positive side (if there is one?) The 1980 Olympic team also started their medal run to the gold with an opening round tie with Sweden

My understanding is that Clark Dingman sustained a leg injury (doesn't sound like it is knee), more like a deep thigh/bone bruise. Could potentially play, but will be tough to come back so quickly. I would guess it depends on how rehab goes. As for Monson, he was not ejected from the game. . . left after getting a 10 minute misconduct, as there was about 3-4 minutes left in the game.

I totally agree that the talent is there for the U.S. I think the main problem for the U.S. is coming together and playing like a team. After witnessing the Canadians at the WJ Tourney last year in GF (and I not only mean the players, but the fans as well.). There is a passion there that I have never seen. The Canadian team plays, not only for themselves, but seemingly for an entire country. They know they have to come together and gel in order to do that, and they have a coaching staff that understands that and knows how to get that to happen. It seems, from what I have seen the last two years, that the Americans either aren't willing to do that, due to their own agenda or ego, and/or really don't know how to do that. For that, I blame the coaches. As the saying goes, "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work." I think that was proven the last two weeks.
