ISU- 24
Game until the 4th.

Looks like its Cole Stefan, a 6-4 guard transfer from Wis.-GreenBay.
Its solved. Kid was the 54th ranked shooting guard out of high school according to ESPN. Not bad. I assume he has to redshirt.

Their 3-8 season was their second year after the transition correct?
Yes but they were not getting pumped by 30 points that year.

I totally agree with you and BY NO MEANS am I trying to relate them to us. They are miles ahead of us at this point. I was just trying to point out that with a good recruiting class (or two) things can change significantly and really set you up for the future. Unfortunately, I too am skeptical that this will ever happen with the current coaching staff.
I'm still not convinced its a lack of talent. Again, we are not a team that will win the Big Sky but on talent alone we are not 30 points worse than Montana and Montana St.

Don't forget that a few years ago they were calling for Bohl's head in Fargo......then came this current recruiting class......and the rest is history. It would appear to me that recruiting is what's falling behind in the past few years, and unfortunately it doesn't get any easier when you're losing!
Also, what has Idalski done?? He has had amazing talent and yet failed to ever advance with a championship. How many olympians does it take to win a title? He is better than what they had before by leaps and bounds, but in my opinion hasn't proven to be a top notch hire yet. People call for Hakstol's head when they don't win titles, why not Idalski? They recruit to the same facility and actually compete against far fewer high level teams throughout the year. Just find the double standard interesting.
I'll go back to a point I made earlier. You are not going to win if you are playing true freshmen, RS freshmen and sophmores. Yes, you need them to step up but in FUs case, when the group you are mentioning was underclassmen they still had the play you would expect from juniors and seniors. If they would have taken all those kids as freshmen and had them getting the most reps, I do not think they would have made the playoffs following 3-8.
I have not seen our JR and SR classes play like JR and SRs this year. And I don't think you can compare the two situations because of that. We are not getting the same level of play from those classes FU got following 3-8.

Is UND willing to demand excellence at the Division 1 level. Big difference between Division 1 and Division 2.
No kidding? I would guess firing your coach for underperforming is a form of demanding excellence. Maybe you should be asking that question of your women's AD. Buttfootball

No matter how you shake it, a different style of game is played in the Big Sky vs the Missouri Valley.
No kidding? Great football mind.

Ask Sam Houston about Big Sky defenses. The entire conference is built on winning during the regular season. When the playoffs come around, teams from other conferences run the ball with relative ease. I think Montana and Poly are built for the playoffs. Montana State gets the ball run down their throat and good defenses shut them down, especially when weather is a factor since they play outdoors
If you look at years past I think you can find plenty of examples of games where Big Sky teams had good and bad defensive performances.
As someone mentioned earlier, FU is kind of the defensive exception to the conference. There is nothing I have seen from a MVFC team other than FU that makes me think their defenses are any better than anything I have seen in the Big Sky.

Is he able to practice? Because there is one guy in this picture that Jason Shay tweeted that I don't recognize https://twitter.com/...558084796239872
I don't recognize the guy on the far left.
Edit: Guy I didn't recognize was Benton.

I believe there is another transfer (a talented kid) on campus that may or may not be eligible to play this year. Why doesn't someone in GF ask some questions and see if details can be provided?
Is it Estan Tyler?

Fantastic job ladies. They are on a roll. Looked like a lot of fun there tonight.

I will repeat my question in this thread. From my limited knowledge, we are our not big enough, fast enough, strong enough, smart enough, coached well enough to compete at the upper level. Do you believe that a whole team can just have "bad games?" It appears that we are still years away from getting to where I hope we will be.
You can be big, fast and strong but if you constantly kill yourself with missed tackles, dropped passes, dumb penalties and get outcoached by a game plan you are not going to win games. There are some things talent alone cannot overcome. Do we currently have the talent to run the table and win the Big Sky?- Not currently. However, we are not 40 points worse than Montana and Montana St based on talent alone. I believe that.

Agree. Henson had one assisted tackle.
Kuksa laid some nice hits.
Kuska is a good athlete who actually tackles well. After watching him on Saturday the only thing against him right now is his size (which will come) and he is a half a step slow in recoginizing run vs. pass (which hopefully improves with more reps). His redshirt was pulled so he should be playing.
-
It looked more to me like a team that was not prepared. Enough with the excuses. The guys out there are the same guys who have been out there all year and some of the younger guys should be seeing more snaps than the older ones. Kuska vs. Mackey, Edwards vs. Hensen, anyone vs. Peters.
-
Rich is an OLB and Bell is a guard. Stockwell is the tackle.
Had anyone noticed how Sharp is built? He's a true fr and looks like a damn horse.
You can't play with all freshmen and sophomores. Our jr and sr classes need to produce. To me it's been more lack of focus, motivation, discipline and effort than talent alone. Starts at the top.

why does kotelnicki or muss have all 11 defensive starters come out to start the third quarter after giving up 42 points in one half?
what did mackey, henson, peters, and rest do to deserve to walk out there to start the second half???That's why I think Norbergs tweet could have been about pulling a redshirt. He would be giving up a quarter of a season but Peters missed some obvious tackles today.
-
Probably the usual.

Norberg: Decisions decisions....
Carr: So sick of this #Done
Dustin Iverson replied to Norberg's with: Hope they're good ones, need you bad.
Dan Bell: You either have it in you or you don't, I'm tired of hearing excuses
JJ McElroy: People are mad at our fans for leaving, I don't blame them for leaving at all.
Those were the ones that caught my eye from the guys I follow.
Do you think Norbergs may be about pulling his redshirt? After watching our mlbs today, he'd definitely play.

Bobcatnation says McGhee is starting today.
Have to get some hits on him. Can't let him be comfortable with that shoulder.
-
Hoping the team found some confidence and discipline during the bye week. Thats a long time to think about the ass kicking from last year.

Its called reality. You actually think when Mollberg and Bartels are seniors Mussman will be the coach? This thread is just a brainstorm of who could be out there to replace Muss and get this team back on track. Craig Bohl was a total joke, at least this thread is more reality.
Are you going to send the list to the AD? This thread is as big of a joke as the Bohl one.

I think so.
Speaking of which, I read Caillou's feel good story about Beck the other day. What I took from it was after all that happened, he was suspended for the months of June and July and reinstated once the first day of fall camp began. They really lay down the law in Fargo. Ed "straight arrow" Genarro has nothing on Coach Bohl.
He had probably been through enough at that point.
I read that to. All I was thinking was- I'm glad it took two different attempts at resisting or fleaing arrest for you to understand you made a mistake. Most people figure it out the first time.

I think to be fair to the qb and wrs one has to look at o-line play and play calling. Not saying it has been great but those things didn't help.
