Just another note from the meeting (now that my computer finally works again)... someone asked about when the regular season ticket holders (meaning non-student) would be recieving this information... it was said that they will mail it out... didn't sound to convincing to me, but we'll find out. It was also said that this meeting was not to target the students, although it appeared to turn that way. They tried to stress that everyone in the Ralph is to be held to the same rules, although that could be an entire new thread itself. Overall, I thought the meeting went alright. They kept refering to us as "stockholders" in a "business"... I kinda felt bad for Buning, he was trying his best to answer the questions but it wasn't going to well. The student body president was there talking to the general manager of the Ralph so Buning would look to him for help, and he wouldn't be paying attention. There was a vote to see if students would rather move to the end and be able to stand, or stay in the current location and follow the rules (aka sit). There was no offical count, but they guessed it to be 65% to 35%. It was said that if moved, we would NOT lose any seats in the lower or upper sections. (not really sure where the upper section would be... seeing as the bar is at the end) I would guess the attendance at the meeting was 100-150 people... any other question, just ask and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

I don't know if I am biased because I am a student, but once again student behavior at hockey games has become an issue. I was just wondering what some of the other fans that have been to the Ralph's opinion of the student section is. In today's issue of the Dakota Student was the following memo: To: All Student Season Ticket Holders From: UND Athletics, REA Administration, Student Government RE: Student Fan Behavior at UND Athletic Events Date: Jan. 13, 2005 (yeah... it actually says 2005... it's not my type-o) Dear Student Hockey Fans: All season ticket holders are required to attend a MANDATORY meeting on Wednesday January 18th at 6:00 pm. We will meet in the lower bowl student section at REA. At this meeting UND and REA administration and staff will once and for all lay out our defination of acceptable behavior at all UND athletic events. Items to be discussed at this time will be: 1. Standing or obstructing the view of other fans 2. Vulgarity addressed to officals, visiting teams, event employees 3. How to properly show respect to officals and visiting teams 4. Excessive alcohol consumption UND and REA want to keep the excitement and enthusiam the students bring to the game, but the price you are asking to pay for this atmosphere is too much. Current and future seating plans will be determined by your wwillingness to conduct yourselves in an acceptable manner. We thank you in advance for attending this meeting. Sincerely, Tom Buning Director of Athletics Jody Hodgson REA General Manager

I read in today's GF Herald that Parise will be a game time decision... unless we took all three goalies, I didn't think he was even down there...

Thanks... I guess I was just out of the loop on this one

UW men's hockey: Highly touted Gagner headed to Badgers The spotlight shining on the future of the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team added some serious wattage this week when high-profile center Sam Gagner made an oral commitment to the Badgers for the 2007-08 season. If he's so great... how come I haven't heard of him? Was UND looking at this kid at all?
-
I've also heard this around campus... I heard that Walski was going, which I assumed meant that Parise wasn't. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it seems to be headed in that direction...

I just copied the article into the thread on Parise and Radke... you can find it there

Just an update for everyone living outside of Grand Forks... in the Herald today there was a short blurb on Parise: "UND goaltender Jardan Parise's status for this weekend's series against the University of Minnesota is in question as a result of an upper body injury he suffered last week. Parise did not play last weekend against Alaska Anchorage. UND coach Dave Hakstol said he had no comment on the injury, and Parise's status will be re-evaluated later in the week. Philippe Lamoureux recorded his first career shutout Saturday in a 5-0 win against the Seawolves If Parise can't go against the Gophers, Lamoureux would likely be the guy. The third goaltender on UND's roster is freshman Aaron Walski, who hasn't played a collegiate game." I don't think a hip flexor is considered upper body... and I don't know if they would refer to a concussion as an upper body injury... any other ideas as to what happened?

Congrats Phil on first career shutout!!! Yay I didn't jinx it

Final minute of play...

"So Niagra falls twice to Minnesota... if I didn't have so much free time I wouldn't have been able to come up with that" ~UAA Announcers~ HAHA!
-
I nearly missed that goal because the UAA announcers don't make it very exciting...
-
actually I'm a she... and I guess that's fine by me... I deleted it, but I've still got faith in Phil
-
"try to get that bagel off the scoreboard" don't most other people call it a goose egg or a doughnut or something?
-
I'm pretty sure Finley can't help half the penalties that he gets... he's just so much bigger than everyone else...
-
Does it seem like we play better on the power kill than on the power play to anyone else?
-
penalty... tripping... first of the game, that's impressive... not sure who it's on wow... UAA announcers making fun of North Dakota... they live in Alaska... like they can talk!
-
The UAA announcers are complaining that they've played five periods against the Sioux and there have only been three penalties called... it isn't fair... haha
-
What'd he have to say? I'm listening to the UAA audio
-
dang... that was a fun question though... I actually had half a chance. Don't know much about SSM but it must be a pretty impressive team... some amazing players have come out of there
-
Miller, Stafford, Parise, Toews, Chorney, Duncan, Porter, and Smaby
-
4-0... new goalie... Not a bad second period
-
Goal!! Zajac... new goalie?
-
GOAL! Fabian "He did a nice job of making it look easy"
-
I can't imagine it would be easy to upend Stafford...
