Sioux vs Minnesota State Friday Game Thread
WiSioux replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
Any chance there will be another "meeting" at center ice at the end of warmups?? -
I'm not 100% sure what he's up to because I can't read the website... but it appears as though Spriko has played in 48 games 10 goals 20 assists 30 points 16 PIM Spirko The stats are on the right side of the page... I'm sure there is probably more info about what he's up to in there somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it. I have also found what appears to be a roster, including a picture. Roster?

I was thinking the same thing. I have a feeling we'll be seeing an ad with Toews and Oshie or something like that.

I find it interesting that we're discussing recruiting after verbal committment because I was just reading a story about it this morning in the Madison newspapers. Although it is about football, so I'm not sure if it's different in hockey. Personally, the story kind of disguested me, but that might also have to do with the fact that I don't like the Badgers in any sport. UW football: Bielema a proponent of recruiting to the final whistle It seems like these young athletes have a hard enough time trying to decide where to go to school in the first place. They think that once they make a decision it will get easier, and with continued recruiting from other schools I can only imagine how many times they second guess themself.

I believe you are thinking of Finley. I believe when I met him in Madison he told us that he played football for the Gophers, but no longer like the program so he was happy that Joe came here.

I saw this in the USA Today this morning: Youngsters Hoping to Realize Hockey Dreams There is also a mention of UND.

Anyone got any suggestion for places to look for tickets? -
Just looking at the box scores on USCHO.com from this weekend's series between Mankato and Tech and I noticed that on Friday night Mankato managed only 16 shots, while on Saturday night they had 40 shots. Anyone with more information on the team or the series know why there was such a large difference? Is Mankato's offense that inconsistant? What should we expect for this weekend?

So I was voting for Duncan and I noticed another player on the ballot... Scared Heart has a player with a very interesting name, I guess would be the best way to say it. There are definitly some entertaining names out there! Scared Heart

I'm not sure if you are asking if there were more hockey players cited or if there were more people in general cited... but in a newspaper article from The Herald Bina Article not this one, but this one mentions it as well... there were four other, non-hockey players who were also cited. Edit: According to this newspaper article Bina could face up to 30 days in jail... not sure which number is right

It's still ten days in jail... and how do you get a DUI at 1:30 in the afternoon??? EDIT: It was a Saturday...

On a side note, Brett Favre is back for another year!!! As for the Super Bowl, I'm toren... I really don't like Payton Manning, so I want him to lose. But at the same time, I dislike Bears fans even more (no offense). Living in Southern Wisconsin for the majority of my life, there are WAY too many Bears fans. You guys got lucky this year... and Rex Grossman is awful... gotta work on that consistancy! (I didn't know it was actually possible to have a passer rating of 0.0) I'm not too familiar with the Colts, how's their defense? It should be a fairly good match up, but I just can't see the Bears winning it... although, that might be wishful thinking.

Nice words about Zajac tonight during the intermission. People were wondering about the length of the schedule in college vs the NHL if he'd be getting tired come this time of the year. Zajac has always said that it wouldn't be a problem, and thus far, he's proving that true. He has delivered, especially tonight.

My question is how were Toews and Oshie the only two caught? I highly doubt that they were the only two underage drinking that were there... The rest just managed to slip away before the cops came?

Not complaining about the officals... just putting some statistics out there. Based on the box scores from the two games this is how the penalties turned out. Penalties: UND: Fri- 12/24 min Sat- 18/36 min UofM: Fri- 7/14 min Sat- 11/22 min Power Plays: UND: Fri- 5 Sat- 5 UofM: Fri- 11 Sat- 12 Time Spent on the PP: UND: Fri- 8:12 Sat- 7:03 Total: 15:15 UofM: Fri- 17:33 Sat- 19:17 Total: 36:50 To take a positive spin on this, we got plenty of practice killing penalties and two shorthanded goals. Seems like with all the practice we get, it shouldn't matter if we have people in the box... but I'd prefer that we keep five men on the ice
-
Also keep in mind that Mankato has a different goalie than last time we played against them...

ROBBIA BINA!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not 9 out of 18... it's 9 wins, 18 losses. But you're right 5-3 is all that matter

Just noticed a few things from the box score. I see the attendence was 10,197. Is the arena that small? For some reason I thought it was bigger than The Ralph... guess not. And a stat that I don't see very often. Toews winning well less than 50% of his faceoffs. He was 9-18 on the night: ## Player W L ------------------------------ 9 Jonathan Toews 9 18 20 Matt Watkins 8 9 17 Rylan Kaip 6 3 7 T.J. Oshie 3 1 29 Chris VandeVelde 2 3 24 Chris Porter 1 0 Totals......... 29 34
