  1. The new Sprinturf is going in N-S, replacing the existing turf, and the track is remaining. Really can't see enclosing both ends unless the track is removed, which in any case would be needed for outdoor track. Seat on each ench of a track oval are too far removed from football action. At this point, the "enclosing both ends" seems more like a negotiation tactic with the Alerus.
  2. UNC on track to winning? From August 28th: Two weeks later from the same columnist: Bears' futility hitting bottom
  3. Jews in Israel? The World Trade Center? PC professors on many college campuses actually defend suicide bombing in Israel and here, but hate certain nicknames. The juxtaposition of depravity vs reason is mortifying. P.S. Can "Happy" be banned for hate speech?
  4. Obviously, a Bison fan worshipping at the stone idol of Chapman. Could be Johnnyroyale? How about nanoBison?
  5. NCAA asks judge to reconsider order, claims UND misled agency The NCAA seems to be really grasping for straws here. They're stating UND misled the NCAA with "support" from the Spirit Lake resolution, yet the NCAA rejected the Spirit Lake resolution themselves. Obtuse logic by the NCAA.
  6. Hawaii attempted to schedule numerous other opponents, including Michigan, Louisville, Tex A&M, and Appalachian State. None of them wanted to risk a loss even at home. Hawaii was forced to limit it's schedule to 12 games. Honolulu Advertiser on UNC-Hawaii game

    Great win

Thanks, SloStang. Would have been interesting if UND hadn't had four turnovers (-3 on the day). You are a classy representative of a great program. Thought Cal Poly had a good chance of handling the Idaho Vandals. Sounds like the Mustangs had turnover issues.
  9. N Colorado has to have at least 57 (and possibly 63), otherwise Hawaii wouldn't have played them. Southern Utah just increased their scholarships to 57 so they could play money games against IA teams: SUU opens against Air Force next fall.

    UND v SUU

As always, good call, UND92,96. Then again, I was cautiously optimistic vs Humboldt.

Gritton emerges at WR for T-Birds
  12. MSU-Mankato is showing some innovation with their Homecoming: immediately following Mankato's homecoming football game vs the Sioux, the Mankato club lacrosse team and UND's club lacrosse team will face off at Blakeslee Stadium so the homecoming crowd can get a taste of lacrosse. With the NSIC imposes scholarship limitations on Mankato, SCSU, UMD, and Augie, Mankato, having the higher number of scholarships awarded, will actually need to decrease scholarships. With Minnesota high schools sponsoring lacrosse, the timing would have been perfect for Mankato to add LAX, which the DI moratorium now prevents.

    UND v SUU

My condolences to you and your family. Couple of SUU articles: Vilardo brings the 'nastiness' to SUU offensive line Secondary stunner SUU corner solid against the run

  16. Especially not as petty as some psuedo-UND fan attempting to give SUU bulletin board material. TRex is supposedly totally disillusioned by UND's programs, yet s/he has so much confidence in the FB program's ability to win that UND will be running up the score.

    UND v SUU

Three reasons to be cautious: Our pass defense hasn't been tested, and SUU seems to have the tools challenge it. Away games are always more of a crapshoot. What's the last time UND played at altitude? Mesa St at Grand Junction, CO, in 2003, which was a disaster. Cedar City is almost at 5900 ft.
  18. Spudshockey was referring to UND's transfer (reclassification) to DI, which will harm recruiting because of UND's postseason ineligibility. The NIT is a postseason option (assuming the NCAA doesn't have it in for us with the nickname), but we would need to have a top 80 (or higher) RPI.

(Former D2 columnist ? ) Chris Kelly's Take: Sioux 31 SUU 30 How long is Noah Dombrovski out?
  20. Is it possible for a softball team to host a game using a multifunctional indoor facility as its home field, and not just for practice? A quick Google search didn't seem to indicate that any other school was doing this. Edit: Just crunched some numbers. A practice field 80 yards long would actually meet the requirements for the length of a softball field, but a portion of the building would need to be 90 yards wide (rather than ~ 60) to allow space for a LF corner to RF corner diagonal .
  21. Walrus: Do you know where the indoor practice facility is intended to be placed?

    DII Polls

Omaha winning at NWMS would be very impressive. UND may have its toughest three-game stretch upcoming: @ SUU CWU @ the AL @ WWU With the way favorites have been falling, we need to keep our humility and not get overconfident.
  23. It's ironic that in a state with 4 BCS football schools, the two schools with the most fervent football fan bases don't have BCS status and are far from NC's media centers: East Carolina and Appalachian St.
  24. I whole-heartedly agree with this post. Appalachian State has the skilled players to be a power: especially QB Armanti Edwards. An outstanding QB, more than any other position, can raise the level of a whole team. When lower IA teams (from the MAC, for example) have made an impact, they've always had QB's that the BCS schools overlooked: Chad Pennington - Marshall Byron Leftwich - Marshall Ben Roethlisberger - Miami (Oh) Charlie Frye - Akron Omar Jacobs - Bowling Green Now, Kent State (23-14 over Iowa State) with Julian Edelman at QB and Bowling Green (32-31 over the Gophers) with Tyler Sheehan, may be other examples to watch.
