Their aim is to have a coach in by the 12th-13th. So we should hear something next week.

The current staff will do a good job in recruiting in the meantime. They are recruiting the kids to the university and the football program, not specifically for a position coach. It certainly helps having staff in place that kids can start to develop a relationship with during the recruiting process, but coaches come and go, the kids need to be sold on the university and the program.

Not sure why you feel the need for this, you delete most of my post and post this with two sentences from my original post. My original post was just saying there's no reason not to post the positions, but that they won't be filled until current recruiting obligations are fulfilled and that I wouldn't worry about the job not being posted yet because potential targets are already having conversations with our staff and it won't matter when the job is actually posted. Not sure why you need to infer that I'm on drugs..........

No excuse to not post it yet, but there will probably not be a lot of movement in the coaching world until the December signing day is over. Getting committed recruits to sign at current schools will always take priority, especially at this level. I'd expect more movement with coaches after the first signing date, and for sure after the February signing date as staffs want to get coaches figured out and spring practice plans put together. I wouldn't worry about it not being posted, I'm sure there's dialogue going on with coaches.

I see your point and I had college teammates that were great players that I wouldn't hire as a high school coach, but if Weston is interested in coaching he would be a huge hire for Danny. Weston is notoriously known for his work ethic and knowledge of the game, can't ask for more from a coach, Weston has forgotten more about the art of being a wide receiver than Danny has learned during his WR coaching tenure and Danny was a pretty good WR coach. I would be more hesitant to hire Weston to manage a business, in reference to his degree, than coach at the college level, football has been his life since 2004 when he joined the UND football team, but knowing Weston he would probably be a very good business manager as well!

Danny and Weston are very close friends, not out of the realm of possibilities if Weston is done playing.

Here's a guy with ND ties and could possibly be on the radar of our AD through his Eastern Washington connections. Central Washington sure can put up some points......... https://wildcatsports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=591&path=football

I had the same feelings. He has a couple plays where he's able to get extension off of the OLine and shed a block to get in on a play, but the overall feel was "look at my hustle towards the play". Still a big body, hopefully the draw to him was him being a solid person and a character guy, because the film is less than impressive.

For me the Alerus lockers were fine, we really only used them the week or part of the week of home games. Nice lockers in Memorial would be more important in my opinion because 95% of your "locker time" is at Memorial with spring ball, fall camp, away game weeks, winter and summer strength and conditioning .

http://awealthofcommonsense.com/2016/01/calculated-risks-from-the-coach-who-never-punts/ I read another article from this Coach about the high percent of scoring plays that happen when more than 2 skill position players touch the ball on one play. So he installed a "Rugby" tag to his play book that means once the play is executed, at any point the players are allowed to lateral the ball backwards until the play is blown dead like in Rugby.

Just saw this on Twitter..........Not sure if he's with the company designing the new logo or not, but this popped up on my twitter feed so I thought I'd share. Dane Storrusten‏@DaneStorrusten 2 new concept brand designs for the #NorthDakota #FightingHawks rename. I don't disagree with that. Not sure why that hasn't happened yet

If there's a deal in place with a brand, no other brands can be work for any sort of clothing whatsoever. So once they sign that deal, it is exclusively Adidas for any sort of clothing they wear to any function related to their sport.

Did he say it would give them an extra month of summer lifting/conditioning? When I was there during the transition and we moved up to D1 there was an extended period of time(a week or so) that we couldn't work with the strength staff in organized workouts due to contact time restrictions. The only thing moving spring ball up would do is give them some extra time to work out before school lets out, but that time off after school lets out would still be there due to NCAA regulations.

Not sure he was on a scholarship, he was a PWO coming out of high school.

Coach Lennon is a finalist for the UW Eau Claire Head job, per FootballScoop.com. Other finalists are former Minnesota quarterbacks coach Jim Zebrowski, and Minnesota Duluth (D-II) offensive coordinator Dan Larson.

I think they look very good. I would like to see something like this as opposed to the generic ones everyone else has. Very well done!

Yesterday my alma mater adopted a new nickname. I will always have pride in my alma mater regardless of a nickname, but I will remain forever a Fighting Sioux. #HokaHey #UNDFightingHawks #Sioux4Life

I haven't commented much on this topic, but I submitted my idea today as well as many others will. I have enjoyed all of the ideas I've seen on this board, but mine was different than any on here. I suggested Green Machine. My rationale was that it ties in our engineering program with the history of railroads in ND. Could be a cool Soo Liner logo associated with the name as well, similar to the Purdue Boilermakers, which would integrate the memory of the old nickname a little bit as well. May be dumb to some people, but I thought I would share.

We got similar call sheets for our 7 on 7 time during the summer. The QB's would get them during spring ball just like you said, but it never got to the point where we had full practices like that. Interesting that if it is that organized that the managers wouldn't also "volunteer" their time to film it instead of having to watch it from the security cameras. Good insight there, again I have no experience personally with FBS, and we never had anything close to that while I was playing.

My senior year was 2009. And I thought the discussion was about how the stipends will impact things at UND. I don't have experience at the FBS level so you may be right, they may require more out of their guys at the FBS level, but at UND, which I'm sure is pretty similar around the FCS, athlete's lift for a couple hours a day then are encouraged to work or take classes. Once a week we would also get together and do some 7 on 7 but that was it. I do have a friend that played FBS and I remember him either taking classes or working a part time job during the summers if that helps with what happens at the FBS level.....

When I played we had a coach in charge of listing job openings for guys in town working out with the team. Jobs aren't looked very highly upon while school is in session, but during the summer it was encouraged when I was in town. The only organized activities in the summer is lifting, I believe other than the weight staff, the other coaches have limits as to how much time can even be spent with the athletes. Long story short, pretty much everyone who was in town had a job or took summer classes, some even did both.

From what I heard UND plans on coming to see him this week. In making his decision on where to go to college, I know the football opportunities will NOT be what drives his decision on where to go to college. I hope he gives UND a fair look, but I'm not so sure the ability to play at UND vs. walking on at a Northwestern/Wisconsin is too much of a draw for him, hope I'm wrong though, great kid and good ball player.
