  1. ODU Players Uncommitted at those positions currently in the portal. https://www.on3.com/db/amorie-morrison-4376/ https://www.on3.com/db/micheal-devereaux-242347/
  2. Very similar body type/skill set to that of the ILB’s we are used to seeing in the 3-4. Maybe a little more athletic to get to runs that bounce outside the EDGE when they spill pullers, but you’ll still need guys that can fill on inside runs.
  3. I would expect a number of the LB's to leave, but also look for some of the 6'3"-6'4" LB's to get a look at potentially filling an EDGE role. All depends on the skill set/body type and how they fit into those ILB and EDGE positions. But yes, I'd expect some current LB's to leave and for us to recruit a few less LB's each year.
  4. I would have to watch some film on other teams, but I believe it has been a base D for NDSU for a number of years.
  5. 4 man fronts typically have a Nose and a Tackle. Nose is more of a big body that plays a 1 Technique and a Tackle can be a bit smaller (still big) but plays in more of a 3 Technique. So yes, there will still be a Nose.
  6. Biggest thing I’m hearing we can all do, other than showing love to recruits on X, is signing up for the collective. Getting a flood of new people signing up would be huge. Have heard there’s interest from FBS level kids, we just need the $$ to get them here. https://1883collective.com
  7. Schmidty Schmidty Bang Bang
  8. My sources suggest Kostich is being retained. Heard he’s been connecting with HS coaches in his previous recruiting area informing them he’s remaining on staff.
  9. Keeping it vague, did they get any feedback as to why they didn’t continue in the interview process? Like no D1 experience or anything like that?
  10. I’m sure there were plenty of applicants from around the country, but were any as qualified as Schmidt and Tibesar? Those two have good resumes with ties to the program. I’d argue most with their background are looking to stay FBS, where these two want to build their Alma Mater into a national powerhouse. I think we are lucky to have two “inbred” candidates with their background interested in coming back to restore and reenergize the program.
  11. Very tough conditions there though. Akron isn’t very committed to helping their football staff be successful.
  12. Was a big part of a good run at Wisconsin and was the DC I believe when Montreal won the Grey Cup in the CFL. Also don’t forget how good his defenses were here at UND when he was the DC under Lennon who knew how to run a championship program.
  13. Good points. Age/experience I'd say would be less than desirable. But he's also the son of a very successful HS coach, has played at a very high level and has great connections from his playing days along with connections I'm sure he's made along the way during his coaching career. Seems to have the support of the current locker room which is very important. Skills needed as a HC is different from a coordinator, as long as he shows the potential to run an entire program I'd be OK with him being hired, but he could potentially need a few more years to gain those skills before being handed the keys to a program as well.
  14. Curious as to why you feel that way about Fruechte? I have no experience with him, wondering what your experience has been to make you feel that way.
  15. Not his champion, I just don’t like guys getting their name drug through the mud by people who have had zero interactions with them and have only heard things…..
  16. And one that’s been with him for his entire tenure and swears by him. Another one that had been with him his entire tenure and only recently left because the D1 travel was too much for his work schedule.
  17. I also know 2 assistants that have left and came back to work for him.
  18. I’ve heard similar, but I’ve also been to his practices and been invited to sit in on team and position meetings. He’s a great teacher, scaffolded what they covered in team meetings to position meetings to practice Indy sessions to team sessions as good as I’ve seen anyone do. Cares about his players and is more than welcoming to high school coaches. He may rub peers the wrong way at times, but my experience with him around his team and staff was more than enough for me to believe he’s a good candidate. In my eyes it would depend on his interest in the job and if his vision aligns with what UND’s vision and commitment is to the football program.
  19. Curious as to why you feel that way?
  20. I don't disagree with any of your points. My issue with the original post of holding the AD accountable is the thought that we as people who post on a fan forum have any say in keeping an AD accountable. I guess if we flood the president with emails and correspondence of our disapproval, that may move the needle a little bit, but most likely not. It's the job of the president to hold the AD accountable, not ours.... Consistent with my first response. Let him do the job he was hired to do. We don't, and most likely won't know who all applied unless you have a personal relationship with a candidate and they've shared that information with you. Of those who did apply, we may or may not find out who the top candidates were, and you will most likely never know how they interviewed or the vision they shared with the committee. So regardless of the general consensus of who this board thinks is the best candidate, maybe they botched the interview, shared delusions of grandeur as to their plans if hired, or weren't interested in leaving their current job for this one in the first place. Again, I don't disagree with you with the points you make, but there are a lot of factors in play here. Once a hire is made, support them and the program as we always do and hope that this is a positive turning point in the history of the program.
  21. Believe me, I'm right there with you on those feelings!
  22. Understood and I don't deny that. I just found it comical that there is any sense of power to hold him accountable from people who post on a fan site. Unless we are paying his checks we have no pull. Can only hope he makes a great choice and support the guy who is hired.
  23. I didn't realize that when I signed up for my nameless/faceless account that I now held the power to hold a university AD accountable for decisions he makes for the job he was hired for! Let the guy do his job, if he hires a dud he'll be held accountable by his boss. I can guarantee you that nobody at UND wants to make the wrong hire and will certainly interview the qualified candidates that are interested in the job and hire the one that interviews the best. Most names being thrown around here all make sense, but they need to be interested in the job and then interview well to earn the job. Not our place to hold an AD accountable for his hire, that's the job of their boss. Support the new hire and the program regardless of who we felt was the best candidate.
  24. Figured as much, thanks for clarifying.
