  1. God I hate seeing this message at the end of every season
  2. When you say 2005 - 2012, you really mean under Hakstol It's hard for me to separate my admiration for this team from my intense desire to start winning championships again WE used to be Boston College - the team that won more than anyone else Time to get this going again
  3. Mario may have intangible leadership, but he never scores and takes stupid penalties that hurt the team
  4. I haven't followed that closely so maybe someone can help me out here - how can a program with argue-ably the best two players in the country and the WCHA rookie of the year get pounded like this. Don't we have anyone else - haven't we recruited anyone else? Just wondering? I hate to see our season end like this.
  5. Sorry - In counting BC's 3 championships since we last won one I neglected to see that none were back to back.
  6. There is no question in my mind that part of the job expectation of the Fighting Sioux Hockey Coach is to win some national championships. Hak has done a great job in some areas - recruiting, developing NHL talent, giving us a unified team that plays Fighting Sioux Hockey, and this year squeezing a ton out of a depleted line-up. However, we need a championship soon. I'm not buying the argument that it is almost impossible with the format and also because of the quirks of fate that have been against us. Of course it's hard. That's why it is special. When can we be the team that steals one with a hot goalie or that comes up with a game plan that disrupts a superior team? If it takes so many breaks to win one then the Gophers, Denver, and BC must have been off the charts lucky to go back to back. I hate to see our view of National Championships change from something we expect to happen to something that will only come if the stars align. During Gino and Blais's tenures we won at a rate of about 1 every 5 years. I am not saying Hak should be fired. He's getting great talent and giving us good teams. Just time to make one more step. We have the best program, fans and facilities in the country. Time to get it done.
  7. Time for coach to get control of his team. This is a make or break moment for him. He needs to set the tone or we will have years of undisciplined me first play (much like a major part of this season) No one is bigger than the team - time to step up and take control
  8. I knew he could skate, but Gleason really showed some speed last night.
  9. Come on Jones - time to "coach em up". Any team who is this crappy on the road (and has been for a long, long time) has some serious issues that need a coaches attention.
  10. Couldn't agree more. It's no secret where the push for DI came from. Many of these people also assured us that "we'd do transiton right (as compared to the school to the south)". - I don't even know what this means, but it was said many times. Well, in the words of Minnesota Fats, its time to "shoot pool, Fast Eddie". Some of the heavy lifting has been done in the form of a great conference. However, with the exception of the volleyball team, our teams on the field and court have some serious work to do. Football - well there are whole threads on what needs to be done. Men's basketball has some talent but seems to be in a bizarre world where the players are calling the shots (when to redshirt, what shots to take). Women's basketball is well coached, but needs a serious talent infusion - we don't have any shooters for example. No one can win on the road. I'm already so sick of hearing from Bison fans I could puke. We need some serious work put in. I agree that alumni donations will help, but we are missing serious revenue from our lack of attendence (because of our lack of products to watch). If football averaged 11,000 instead of what it is there would be some serious extra cash. Same with basketball. Time to get to work.
  11. Agreed - why we can't do it regulairly is a mystery
  12. I generally agree with your assessment about the nature and importance of role players and how you need a complete team. However, I think a couple of other things factor in this year. It is fairly clear to me after watching the game last night that this may be one of our off years. Add that to our title drought and you get more of an immediacy that usual. We need to reload fast if we are going to win #8. Seeing the Gophers reel in blue chippers (Good God, who would want to go to that program instead of ours) brings out our emotions. We can't continue to replace JT Millers with Dickin and Gaardners and be a top program. This team needs an immediate influx of talent of the nature that the Gophers are getting. We need to get some studs in and fast if we want to be contenders. I have faith that Hak can do it, but he needs to get busy.
  13. At this point I don't think we should be "saving" anything
  14. Whenb was the last time our power play got a goal from bang bang passing?
  15. Actually, good coaches don't have to "preach" to their team about how they want them to play. Good coaches have players that work hard and buy into their system. If you are continually preaching to a group that doesn't pay any attention, they you have big problems. Name any successful coach who has players that just do things how they want on their own. You just can't get a group of reasonably talented players and turn them loose or be shy about confronting them or sitting them when they don't listen. This team could go either way. It's up to the coaches.
  16. Jones has some talent on this team - however, when you have guys complaining about not getting the ball enough or when you have guys at this point in the season with no clue what their shots should be this is what you get. Jones recruited these guys - time to coach em up.
  17. Coach clearly has some work to do We have some talent returning, but at what price How about some team discipline?
  18. I meant same amount of teams in the country and one wins the championship - regardless of the tournament format there is still one national winner every year. The list of other teams that have gotten it done is revealing, and now includes Minnesota Duluth
  19. Format, Format, blah, blah, blah - there are the same amount of teams and 1 wins the championship The odds are the same- Please let's stop using this as an excuse
  20. I'll bet the PAC 10 eats your lunch
  21. If you mean that UNO headhunted Kristo and we didn't do much about it, I agree - we can't always wait for the refs
  22. Disrupt our breakout and we've got no answer Hak takes over the top program in the country which has just moved into the best arena in the country Blais takes over a start up program He's in our building kicking our ass - do the math
  23. Agree they still have a long way to go. I've been a Mussman critic, but I do recognize that he has grown some this year. However, a last second field goal to beat Sioux Falls in a game at home that we should have been spitting fire is not quite what I had hoped for. Muss needs to keep improving as he has some weaknesses that could cost us. I think my big worry is our quarterback situation. Since Muss has been in charge, we have failed to make the most important position on the team secure and I'm not hopeful for next year. This is squarely on the head coach. I agree that 8-3 buys him some time to improve, but remember - he was only two plays this season from being a bum.
  24. Ah, the new quarterback, that's the rub
