Jost is an interesting case, as the Avalanche were in the toilet as a franchise and had nothing in the cupboard to begin with. He was almost guaranteed to play in the NHL. Otherwise, I don't think he would have left.

Parise would have stayed in school if he knew the lockout was coming for 2004-05. So he was stuck in the minors for that year.

I'd have to refresh my memory, but I think it was to Parise's benefit to get to the NHL before the lockout, knowing that a lockout was coming. I think this way he could sign a larger rookie deal as the rules on that were about to change. Something along those lines...

I actually think if there wasn't a lockout coming that year, he may have stayed.

not the reporting of it, the fact that they are going to pay cousins that kind of money... no disrespect intended.  I felt that keenum is the better value for the dollar, and have some cash left for other contracts in the next few years.

I actually agree with you.  I was sorta hoping they'd just go with Keenum.

Looks to me like Hovey had a good point.

I agree with @SJHovey that it looks like CC #15, in an attempt to clear the puck, gets his stick on the puck and hits it away from the net and into Terry's skate, which then sends the puck back into the net.  I'm not sure if that matters, though.  If Terry made a kicking motion (which he did) and the puck goes from his leg or skate into the net, it shouldn't be a goal.

Except whatever they play after a B's loss...

OUCH!  And here I thought we were friends.

Oh, did you happen to catch the Red Wings game last night? :p

If Captain Serious was traded to the Bruins would REA the play this song after every win?

There's not a sweeter sound than to hear that guitar start playing right after the horn after a B's win!

I left for work with USA up (and rolling) 2-0 after two.  This loss is shocking.   It's conceivable that they may not win a game in South Korea.

It caught me off guard to hear Pierre McGuire say that "he wouldn't be surprised if any of the college guys left to go pro after the Olympics."  I doubt Terry would go but Greenway and Denato's teams are on the NCAA Bubble so I guess that makes a little bit of sense if they were to bolt.

Agreed that the US was rolling early and let it get away late.  They had good puck control, were skating well and were outshooting Slovenia pretty bad.

Also agreed that they could go winless during these Olympics.

Regarding Pierre's comments - I took it to mean that he said those guys would be in the NHL by the end of the year...after their college season is complete.  I didn't think he meant going to the NHL directly after the Olympics...but I could have misheard or misunderstood him too.

With regard to the women's hockey...wake me up when it's time for the USA-Canada gold medal game.

Well, it's not for the Gold yet, but USA plays Canada on Wednesday.  Should be a good game as these 2 teams hate each other.

    Wednesday, Feb. 14
    NBCSN
    10:10-12:30 a.m. ET -- Women's Ice Hockey: U.S. vs. Canada, NBCSN (LIVE)

  8. USA beats the Olympic Athletes from Russia (that sounds awkward every time I say it or hear it on TV) 5-0.  A huge congrats to Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson who set an Olympic record (men's and women's), scoring 2 goals 6 seconds apart!
