So if you don't wear your visor right you get a penalty and you can't have tape in a color not white or black.

I love that they instituted the visor rule.  Couldn't stand watching guys like Komarov, Kronwall, Hagelin, etc. wear their visors on top of their helmets.

I think he was talking about Schlossman. If the Strib was to offer him double what he makes for the Heraldo, I wouldn't blame him for taking it.

I hear ya...but here's the bigger question.  Even though you'd be making more, how tough would it be to go from covering Sioux hockey - from the way they play to all the passion surrounding the program........to Gopher hockey?  How much is that paycheck really worth to a guy?

    Center ice logo....BOOOOOORING

    IMG_1764.JPG

Aside from the debate over whether the fighting hawk logo should be there or not, I hope they're just moving around and placing some sort of stencils on the ice in this picture, and this isn't already painted.  Take a look at the 2 "Ralph Engelstad Arena"s on each side.  I'd say they're not quite symmetrical, specifically between the D of Engelstad and the A of Arena.

just threw a hawks sticker on my old UND college lacrosse helmet to see what the logo looks like on a black helmet. i think it really pops IMO,  i think the hockey/football teams are missing out by not putting this on a black helmet.

Did you wrestle a greased pig before doing this? That arm is as filthy as a Brock Boesser one-timer.

Ohmygod...that was hilarious!  Nicely done...I'm pretty sure everyone around me is wondering what the hell was going on as I busted out laughing!

Really? This was one of the most popular Sioux jersey's ever.

Because of the name on the back...

I am not a fan at all of the diagonal stripes either.  Or the "silk" style jerseys.  As far as the Bennett Brien logo jerseys went, these were among the best, although you could argue that they'd even be nicer without the full green cuffs.

I see where the son of former UND forward Brent Bobyck recently committed to Mankato.  At least I think he's the son of Brent.  Always enjoyed watching Brent play.

Bobyck was a STUD!  One of my favorites.

I remember seeing UND play some team from Russia called Dynamo at the old Ralph back in about '83 or so. Perhaps the NCAA rules have changed since then.

Per the media guide, they played Spartak Moscow in Switzerland in the '82-'83 season.
They played Moscow Dynamo at home at the old Ralph in the '90-'91 season.

Seems to me that having a bunch of blue chip draft picks are more of a area of bragging rights and add some publicity for the program, but is not necessarily a recipe for a championship. Just look at countless teams from UND, UM and BU.

Don't get me wrong, I love the bragging rights, and I love when guys like Toews or Oshie play at UND then tear up the NHL. Though I also love the underdog story with guys like stecher and Caggiulia, and there is a better chance of those guys staying longer.

Personally, the winning combo is a some high end players (with the right mentality) surrounded by role players that buy into the coaches system. I'll take a Caggiulia every time against a Mittlestadt. You got Caggiuia for 4 years, and he can do a pull up.

A smart guy, from a stupid school, once said, "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right ones".

LOL...this will never get old!

    Brayden McNabb (Los Angeles Kings)
    Jason Garrison (Tampa Bay Lightning)
    Deryk Engelland (Calgary Flames)

    Goalies (3):
    Calvin Pickard (Colorado Avalanche)
    J-F Berube (New York Islanders)
    Marc-Andre Fleury (Pittsburgh Penguins)

I prediction of the 30 names selected by Vegas last night that some of them will never wear a VGK jersey in the NHL.

I put that over and under at 2.5. Any takers? I expect some to be traded by end of day today.

VGK was required to take 14-9-3. They took the minimums of F and Gs and maxed out on defensemen.

I guess I'm surprised they didn't take a fourth goalie (for trade bait).

I suspect Methot (who has said he doesn't want to go to VGK) will be traded shortly. Irony would have him going to the OTT arch rival TOR. :D

I agree with you.  There will be a bunch of these guys traded.  I had heard that Colin Miller from Boston will be the guy traded to Toronto, though.  If that happens....UGH!  I also agree that I thought they'd take another goalie - most notably Antti Raanta.  However, I think they made a solid choice in taking Lindberg from the Rangers, too.

Bold prediction : Vegas will make the playoffs next year and Pittsburgh will not

Nothing like going off the deep end because a sports hero of yours gets moved to a new team.  Heck, even Wayne Gretzky played for 4 different NHL teams and crazily enough, the world kept turning.

Now, I have no reason to doubt the truthfulness of this issue or the seriousness of this condition, however the conspiracy theorist in me asks if this is really a retirement in disguise?  The Blackhawks gave Hossa a 12 year, $63M contract in 2009, which means that he's under contract through the 2020-21 season with an annual cap hit of $5.275M  He's currently 38 years old and would be 41 when this contract expires.  The Blackhawks are currently $2.5M over the salary cap which was increased $2M from $73M to $75M (if it had stayed the same they'd be $4.5M over!).

Now with this medical condition they can put Hossa on LTIR, which also means that his cap hit will not count against the team.  If he had retired, it would have.  Hmmmmm.....:whistling:

Pick your Golden Knights team yet?

I have.  What I realized is it is VERY different if you're picking a team with a good mix of veterans and some young prospects to actually build a team like George McPhee is going to need to do versus picking a team of the best guys available and staying under the cap for fantasy purposes just for the upcoming season.

Are you able to protect free agents?

I believe the league year starts on July 1st, so technically there are no free agents until that time.  As the expansion draft occurs on June 21st, players will still be under contract.
