Congratulations Fighting Sioux! 2008-2009 WCHA Regular Season Cha
SiouxFanatic replied to 808287's topic in Men's Hockey
Yeah post-GLI was rather gloomy. Now look where we're at! Great accomplishment by this Fighting Sioux team. While I wish that they'd be more consistent in the first-half of the season I gotta concede that they were once again able to right the ship again after digging a nice hole when it seemed to many(including me) a hole they wouldn't be able to climb out of this time around but they did. However, I'll use the excuse that I was in a very depressed state since at the time UND lost to two of the worst teams in the NCAA. And as many have iterated. 1 down 2 to go!! GO SIOUX!! -
Yep, last year Midcontinent(cable) picked up the Wisconsin series and broadcasted it in almost all of there viewing area. They picked up the My Madison TV feed of the games. It's a local station. They will be televised on this same station so here's to hoping Midcontinent picks the games up again! While it was on the FSSN channel I don't believe those who watch Sioux home games using satellite weren't able to watch since it was picked up by Midcontinent and not produced by FSSN. Please correct if I'm mistaken.

Thanks for posting the video. Didn't get a chance to see it since I had to quickly leave to work after seeing the OT goal.
-
Yeah I remember Midcontinent(cable) picking up the My14 Wisconsin feed last year when it wasn't on FSN Wisco. So those with Midco in ND got to watch the games. Well most areas in ND were able to at least. I'm hoping Midco will pick up the feed again and broadcast throughout ND again. I hate it when they just have it for GF area >.<.

I honestly don't buy into that. That's like the WJC excuse.

I thought it was a hard fought series. CC is friggin' good. While I agree our PP sucks, CC's PK is pretty damn good to. I'm satisfied.
-
W00T!! Great win for the Sioux. At minimum need at least a split in Wisconsin to retain sole possession of first place! Also it looked like Gregoire had a sling for one of his arms? I dunno I thought it was him when they showed the players walking into the locker room and the scratched players were congratulating the team as they walked down the hallway.
-
Man our PP is atrocious. They've generated very little legitimate scoring chances. I like CC's PP mentality...putting the damn puck on the net. Sorry but playing hot potato between the points and occasionally passing it to man down low to just return it back to the point doesn't do anything except maybe once in a while when the opponent is caught off guard.

I guess I don't see why everyone is finding DaveK question outrageous. If he means as just having Walski 'start' the game so it goes in the books that he started the game and then be replaced when the puck is frozen for the first time then I wouldn't mind that. I've seen a couple of teams do that for there senior goalies. I remember when Wisconsin was playing in the consolation game in the Final Five and it was Brian Elliotts(sp?) last game as a Badger so they gave him the start and then was replaced by Connelly(sp?) when the puck was first frozen. Of course, for those that remember watching the game the opposing team scored on Elliott during that time span of less than a minute that he was actually on the ice for that game. The Badgers still ended up winning though from what I recall. --- Now if he actually meant Walski actually getting to play with the regular season title on the line then yes that is outrageous!

Not as convinced as you are that Denver is too good to lose to the likes of SCSU. It's not like SCSU isn't going into the series with no goals in mind. They are vying for home ice in the first round of the play-offs. I thought Denver was too good to lose against UAA at Magness. I was belatedly wrong. Now I'm not saying SCSU is gonna sweep DU but I definitely think they can take one game for a split. And even if it is just one game against CC. It is still a game against there arch rival. Anything can happen even with the MacNaughton on the line.

UND 28 38 Denver 28 37 UMD 28 32 UW 28 32 CC 28 30 UMN 28 30 SCSU 28 29 Mankato 28 24 AA 28 19 MTech 28 9

We now have a even better chance to finish first. If Denver sweeps SCSU and loses to CC or splits with SCSU and wins against CC they'll end the season with 37 points. If they sweep SCSU and beat CC they'll end the season with 39 points. If we can at least split with CC and WI we'll end the regular season with 37 points. And we have the tiebreaker over Denver. - - - - - Great sweep for the Sioux! Got very crucial 4 points. GO SIOUX!!! Bring it on CC! The What If calculator is quite a handy feature Jim!
-
WCHA wise yes. However, they still have one more home game against Alaska-Fairbanks....I mean Alaska.
-
It's understandable. They don't see a lot of wins up there or even sweeps. Lots of teams stick salute even after they lose as well. I remember last year or maybe year before Denver stick saluted the crowd after a Saturday loss to us as well.

Empty Net Goal. Marto!
-
My god...Malone with a CLEAR breakaway. And Olthuis stops him
-
Indeed! It'd be great if the Sioux just need to score again
-
I thought they were playing pretty good tonight. Since getting that 4th goal though it seems they've relaxed and started letting up a bit. Plus taking very stupid penalties since then.
-
Yep, that's what you get for committing to many penalties.
-
Zajac with a huge opportunity. No luck though.
-
penalty on kozek. cross-check.
-
I'm surprised they didn't. I mean the refs stopped play because he was on the ground injured much like Genoway was.
-
Forgot to mention sucks for Trupp if it's a sidelining injury. Especially since his family is attending and watching him play.
