  1. With this lingering rumor about Parise, any guesses as to what organizations are interested?
  2. I'm not going to expand in a Parise thread, but you are just as wrong as Hockey1.
  3. Not much. You got any information to share?
  4. The Gophs really only recognize the 1940 undefeated team as banner worthy, I certainly wouldn't expect others to acknowledge any of the pre-NCAA glory teams. We should do this in a separate thread.
  5. Two NCAA titles is significant, Holy Cross is significant, 5-10 games over 60 years not significant.
  6. Come on. You saw Vanelli repeatedly bash that guys hand with his nose didn't you?
  7. I'm pretty sure that's Elton John. I'd never seen the Prpch/Peluso fight. Pretty funny.
  8. 136-117-11. The Sioux don't count several of the early games so they will give a slightly different all-time record.
  9. In the spirit of this. I'd like to any Sioux hockey team sets that people would like to either sell or trade for Gophers sets. Please PM me if you have any you can part with.
  10. This year is an exception, not the norm. It is a MAJOR compliment to the Sioux program to have all these players wanted by NHL organizations. These "early" departures help land the best recruits and make UND a favorite destination for the best players. Buzzsaw teams are great, but they can be derailed just like any other team. The Sioux will be fine.
  11. I didn't think he was anywhere near the scorer Vanek was, but popping in 24 was a big season for him. Until then he seemed like a nice forward who'd play hard, but often shoot into the goalies chest or over the net.
  12. Why would a favorite player getting a potential chance of a lifetime have any negative connotations?
  13. Do you think all four of these guys will be in the NCAAs next year?
  14. Wouldn't you say that as long as Spirko finishes the school year there is a shot he returns? With Parise, I completely agree if anyone gives him a shot at an AHL job he would need to take it. He can always get his degree from UND, but he never assured a pro job. Congrats to Stafford, it was well earned. I guess this closes the book on the whole Murray/Stafford vs. Potulny/Irmen debates.
  15. You mean Stafford still hasn't signed? Parise played VERY well for the Sioux so far. After seeing Lamoureux play that weekend in Minneapolis combined with his .911 save percentage, I don't think goaltending is going to be a big issue with or without Parise. If Elliott turns pro this summer I think the WCHA five year reign may come to an end.
  16. The two young kids that played with the Siouxsports.com team are probably the two most skilled players that attend. There are plenty of others that can keep up and it is generally a lot of fun.

    NHL draft news

Don't get me started on Lemaire. Martin Brodeur gave that guy an additional 10 years of NHL head coaching pay. New Jersey has been significantly better without him. With his reported demands for sound defensive play I still don't see it on the ice. I don't usually watch the Wild unless they are playing a decent team, but I think the Wild would have been a lot easier to cheer for had they taken a shot with Blais.

    NHL draft news

Toews looks 10x better then that kid Pierre-Marc Bouchard the Wild put into the NHL at 18. I'd say he's probably a better player today as we speak. He may not be Crosby at 18, but there is a lot of room between Crosby and your basic NHL player. I'd assume it will come down to whether or not Toews wants to return to UND or get on with his career. His money will be the same this season or next so he simply has to decide.

  20. Hits of the game are one thing. The systematic delivering of solid body checks at every opportunity is another. The '03-'04 and '04-'05 Sioux were outstanding at the latter. I'm sure the Sioux probably claimed the "Hits of Game" this year as well. Unless Harrington or Irmen ran some one.
  21. '97-'01 Just skated around us. '02 - UND didn't really try to hammer the Gophers physically. '03 - UND didn't really try to hammer them. '04 - UND certainly tried, but the Gophers were able to hit back later in the season. '05 - UND punished them physically with no reprisal. '06 - UND didn't really try to hammer them. This had to have been the least physical four games the Gophers and UND have ever played in a season. Had the Gophers not ducked the Quarter game I suspect that would have been a hit filled game.
  22. I'm sure tDon has lost his skills. P. Martin, Leo, and Ballard all were lucky to make the show due to the inferior coaching they suffered through. Goligoski will be lucky to ever see an AHL contract. You clearly have a ton of insight to the Sioux (and hockey) and yet you consistantly present it with more arrogance than any Gopher fan I've met in the last 20 years. Congrats. The Gophers will miss Chucko. Teams like UND are going to try to destroy the Gophers physically next year with little worries about getting hit back.
  23. It's probably completely true. He is a 1st round pick and they usually get close to max everything. Performance doesn't really seem to matter unless you are a late round pick.
  24. I haven't seen a press release but a LOT of people would have already begun ripping the original GPL poster if it were false.
