  1. As far as "cutting" an athletic scholarship for failure of an athlete to deliver his potential or add positives to the team/school, I see no problems with it....why is that any different than when a non-athlete gets his academic scholarship pulled. The student was promised the academic scholarship as long as he/she kept their duties up in compliance with the offer they accepted. If the student fails in the class room by not living up to expectation and the pre-set standards, usually with more than one chance, his scholarship is then pulled back. This is similar to an athlete, if they don't live up to the expectation put on them, they can also be cut. Let's face it, in today's society and big-time athletics, their is pressure to win. The coach/school can't afford to keep around dead weight. I believe after the '00-01 season, Rich Glas cut or greatly reduced some scholarships to open up some money....look who that money turned into..Beasley,Porter and maybe the most talented of them all, Rob Lolar. He probably wouldn't have had the money to get all of them otherwise. And now the team is back on track.
  2. I also have to agree that the Afro term is certainly not the worst that could of have happened....but what I would like is the Bison fans to maybe realize out of this(concerning the Sioux name), is that the political correctness and people wanting to be able to call themselves a victim goes overboard much too often....and this goes back to the Sioux name that so many of them are so strongly against. People can turn damn near anything in to prejudice or racism these days. Bison fans and many other groups overreact to use of the name, probably like the Afro term was overreacted to. As far as the rest of the students actions, those were the bigger problem. I just can't believe that a school that deemed themselves as such a classy institution could not have already changed this before it produced an incident. It makes me wonder what else they have missed in having their "vision" of D1.
  3. I have no info to back either side of $100,000 worth of damage in the Dome by Sioux fans...but lets say that is true. How in the hell can that happen....did the Dome happen to forget to hire security!?! This would seem almost impossible. Once a few were destroyed, I would think that someone, anyone, would have noticed this. The details just don't add up on how this could of happened. Most of a section of seats and no one noticed this going on, that would take quite a while to do.
  4. Yes, that darn Lennon. It was a crazy, hectic time here in Grand Forks. I don't know if the FB program or maybe even the whole Athletic dept. will ever recover! Those were wild, wild times here in the Grand Cities. And that darn Blaiser, telling off an a**hole, nobody has ever wanted to do that to Eddie. And maybe, just maybe, if NDSU fans didn't act like morons and NDSU had seating that didn't allow these incidents....ahh, hell forget it. I am sure we should blame all this on the use of the Fighting Sioux name. I was glad to see the NDSU students could change their minds so quickly about not using the Sioux name and now being able the chant "Sioux suck sh*t" so often. At least they aren't narrow-minded and can change their views.
  5. I think it is now beyond choking!! 17 point lead with 10 minutes to go?? You pretty much have to try and lose. Like I said before, no killer instinct. UND has as much talent as anyone, but how can they just freeze up like that two weeks in a row? And it is not like they didn't know that Bue would be the first option. Letting the shot clock expire and not even getting a shot off is inexcusable. They look unbeatable for 35 and 30 minutes these games!Their heads must be rather messed up right now!! It will be interesting to see how they react this week. If they could play 40 minutes for once, they could easily win the tourney. But that is a big "if". Should be some fun games in Brookings.
  6. bisonguy, I don't know what the official stance is. I just thought that the setup was asking for problems. Those problems would happen at most schools, including UND. That is why UND changed the seating at BB games. I remember when UND allowed the students, usually the FB players, to sit behind NDSU's bench and their were problems. I don't know if it was UND or a NCC rule change. It just seems to make sense that a school would not make it so easy for a fan to be basically three steps from yelling into the opposing bench's face. It makes it too easy for a couple morons to make for an embarassing situation for the school.
  7. You are exactly right. I just think that NDSU fans might have a shorter fuse with someone from the outside, especially coming from a big-name program like Nebraska. Taylor will also be under the spotlight after his blunder of giving Babich the extension...even though he lucked out by his leaving.
  8. The whole situation was a very embarrassing one for NDSU. How can they let their students be literally 4-5 feet from the UND's coaches chairs...and the NDSU students could literally stand up and lean over and yell right in their face. Roebuck basically had to be separated from them by Brewster in the closing seconds of the overtime, I am sure Roebuck confronted them because of the racial slurs. It was a shining moment for NDSU!
  9. I have talked to many Bison fans that wanted Bradley or Rocky, not just people on the boards. I think most that I have talked to in Bisonland would of wanted one of these two.
  10. Yeah and their fans are actually more obnoxious than goofer fans too!
  11. I never said that Bison fans were that smart. I agree that they should of have went outside the program for a fresh start. It will be interesting to see who Bohl retains. The players and fans really seem to like Bradley and some of these assistants did a heck of a job on the recruiting trail this year.
  12. On the Bison boards they are saying that Bohl has accepted the job and it will be announced this afternoon at a press conference. Bohl was on the Bison for the staff 1984 season. It will be very interesting to see how the Bison fans spin this one. The majority of Bison fans wanted Rocky or Bradley...as well as most of the other candidates before Bohl. Taylor sure didn't pick the fans choice, very interesting coming off a 2-8 season and a move to 1-AA coming. Taylor sure had better hope this one doesn't backfire on him or else he will be outta town pretty damn fast.
  13. NDSU candidates are down to Bohl and Bradley. Looks like the Bison maybe are staying within the program for a coach.
  14. I heard that they have 8-9 guys that could start on that team. I just hope that is the case. I seen a picture of him and he looked pretty well put together.
  15. Yes, he was just trying to flame over there!!
  16. I saw Gutter's team made the USA Today Top 25 this week. That team is filled with studs, his stats can't be great with so many studs on that team.
  17. I think it was because you were acting like a MORON!!!
  18. Wenig sure wouldn't help next year, looks like another wing that we have in abundance.
  19. WHAT!?! UND sweeps two games and drops!!! USD gets swept and stays one spot ahead of the SIOUX? The Bison were not even in the top ten and jump ahead of UND?
  20. Mens: 1. Nebraska-Kearney (24-1) 2. St. Cloud State (22-4) 3. South Dakota State (20-5) 4. Metropolitan State (22-3) 5. North Dakota State (18-8) 6. South Dakota (19-6) 7. North Dakota (19-7) 8. Fort Hays State (20-5) 9. Nebraska-Omaha (17-8) 10. Fort Lewis (16-10) Womens: 1. South Dakota State 23-2 2. South Dakota 22-3 3. North Dakota 22-4 4. Nebraska-Kearney 21-4 5. North Dakota State 22-5 6. Minnesota Duluth 20-4 7. Concordia-St. Paul 20-5 8. Mesa State 18-6 9. Minnesota State Moorhead 16-9 10. Regis (Colorado) 18-7
  21. I agree with that men's lineup UND 92,96. I have said that many times this year. Porter can guard many of the fours in the league. Yes the men have played well lately, but they can't lose games like the one in Mankato, that was a game that title comtenders must win...even if it was on the road. The one thing about the men is that they could easily be undefeated right now. Four of the losses were basically because of poor free throw shooting down the stretch and of course another due to the ref and a cheater on the clock in Vermillion. It just seems that the women don't have that killer instinct...even though they are a veteran team. Boll seems like tha only semi-vocal one out there. Sure they won the close Bison game, but they have let some of the poorer teams stay too close. St. Cloud was a great example, as was at UNO. These are teams UND should pull away from...just too inconsistent. I feel that they are as good as any out there, I just don't think they can put it together for that big of a stretch as neede in the playoffs. Especially now that the NCC tourney will probably in Brookings and possibly the regional as well. The women had control of their destiny and flat out CHOKED!!! Maybe last night woke some of them up!
  22. The only word for the women last night: CHOKE!!!
  23. I don't know what JBB could possible have on his mind today, February 20th. I don't believe I have heard many Bison fans mention February 20th before!! Is their something special going in Bisonland today that we should all know about??
  24. Maybe NDSU already has another Reggie Scott in their new bunch from Chicago and wherever else they got these players from.
  25. Sicatoka, The Bison men lost their only game while everyone else won at least one. The Sioux won a huge game in the realm of regional rankings, on the road against a team with a .750> record. That was huge!!!!
