Gopher Puck Live put a freeze on new registrations. Maybe the same should be done here?
-
No matter who wins next Thursday, they'll have one tough battle vs CC or DU, but that's another (Sioux) thread for 9pm next Thursday. If Greene doesn't take too many bad penalties we should prevail over the Gophs. I think the Sioux have a better chance of beating the Gophs protecting a lead than playing catch-up.
-
Keys for the Gophers:
1. Limit the Sioux breakaways. Force the Sioux to grind out PP goals.
2. Stop a Sioux breakaway if/when it occurs. Every time I've seen your team lately they are cashing in breakaways. Goalies can stuff shooters, Briggs will need to do this.
3. 0-15 with a shortie allowed. Needless to say this will not be acceptable if they wish to play in the Final. The Gophs will likely need a PP goal to win.
4. Another goal by Kaufmann's line.
If the Gophers accomplish all four items, they will win. Two or fewer they lose.
Both teams will be ready, both will play very well. I really think the "7>5" will be changing again this year, but I honestly don't know which direction.

I would agree w/Sagard's post.. The Sioux are excellent at PK's but it may bite 'em in the butt eventually, although they need to set the tone early. I think if they limit the penalties somewhat they grind out a 4-2 win. Both teams have good weapons and it should be a classic. It would be sweet to see Spirko repeat his FF breakaway goal for the game-winner. Living in the TC's, nothing would make me happier than all the crying and excuses by the Goph fans on Friday . . .

According to the Denver press release, it was Gwozdecky's decision.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Boy, that was a gutsy call by the DU coach - especially when you're playing a powerhouse like BSU

The listings on the TV guide channel will change. Mine (Mpls) currently says there's poker, etc., too, but FSN will be broadcasting the hockey games. These listings are done far in advance and are subject to change . . .
In Mpls, the Saturday night (7pm) West Regional game is on Chanel 45 (FSN has the TWolves). FSN is showing the game at 11pm.

I'm stuck down here in st louis park, Mn for the night and wondering if there is anything fun to do on a tuesday. anyone in the area have any ideas? the mall of america is fun the first hundred times, any suggestions would be appreciated.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Try looking on www.citypages.com for some ideas. Heck, I see Duran Duran is in town tonight! What more do you want . . .
-
I'm surprised FSN would show this when the Wisco/CC games are at the same times, but, that's what the email says. Maybe the Wisco alternate has the Grand Rapids region on.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I got the same (good) news from Paul Bunyan cable in Bemidji - that Fox Sports will be showing both games Friday & Saturday
-
The schedule does not show the Wisco/Mich game on ESPNU. Do the game times overlap?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Will the Fighting Sioux Network pick up the games?

One heck of a performance by our favorite hockey team. They nearly overcame horrible "reffing" and played a cheap DU team, and most importantly, kept their heads up and played gutsy and pretty clean after the cheap shot. I hope they can get as healthy as possible for next week and I hope they believe that they can make a NCAA run.
I may be getting delusional, but (I think) I hope that the Gophs win tonight so we don't have to play them tomorrow in a meaningless game with a banged up and tired squad.
-
No. Once they are scratched, they are scratched.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Looks like Brandt and Parise are going to play some wing . . .
-
score?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
1-1 in the 1/2 way in the 2nd
-
Dumb question - can the Sioux play a scratch player to replace an injured player?
Anyone listening to the GF broadcast (when you're not being buffered)? TH & his sidekick were furious to say the least regarding the cheap shot.

I really don't think it matters how Lammy plays. Everyone knows JPAR the man right now and the team seems like they know that too judging by all the comments they made after the game last night. I just hope Lammy plays well to give JPAR a well needed break.

According to pre-game, Phil's the man today . . .

is it possible to stream 660?
I checked Denvers site and they want you to PAY to hear it
Hopefully the sioux link works
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You can try www.660wbhr.com. The WCHA web site also broadcasts the game(s).

Will this game be on FSN locally in the cities? I have to wheel a TV here into the office to catch it...Damn it!!!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
YES it's on FSN (along with tonite's CC/Goph, tomorrow afternoon's 3rd place and tomorrow night's championship) and on 660 am if the Sioux web cast crashes.

I am ready for the game tonight. I am all ready into a a few beers we started at BWW in Roseville, they make a killer Bloody Mary. I think UND has to be relentless tonight. Forecheck and get all over Robby Earl. I am expecting a big game out of Big Mike tonight. UND needs to crash the net, get in Bruckler face. Also we need to use the bigger defensemen of UND to smash the BADger forwards.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ST and the Goon are right on. The Sioux need to set the tone on the first few shifts.
Off to McGovern's, I take take it anymore . . . Let's Go Sioux!

You gotta give the future net minder some solid expierience and a game in the F5 would do just that.
-
How about a Rolling Rock or a Hieny . . . green bottle and all.
The metro roads will suck, even with just a flake of snow, so I'd leave plenty early for the X.
-
I believe the only two teams that have something to play for are the Sioux/BADger winner and the Gophs. The Sioux can get a 2 seed with a couple wins and the Gophs are playing for a #1 seed. While I don't see CC playing dead, they don't have too much of an incentive to play for (besides beating a rival, of course).
My 2 cents . . .
Thurs - Sioux win 4-2
Fri - Sioux lose 4-2 to DU
Fri - Gophs win 5-3 over CC
Sat afternoon - CC beats Sioux 2-1
Sat night - Gophs beat DU 4 - 2
I hope I'm wrong and the Sioux win three and the Gophs win one.

The only blue ice I like is Labatt's . . .

Hockey is hands-down the best live spectator sport there is and it's mediocore at best watching on TV (unless you were st Sensors last weekend with the Bulldog fans). However, I saw the AHL All Star game on ESPN in HD and that made a signifigant improvement.
PS, the blue tinge on the ice from old hockey games on TV is from the cameras getting warm (I believe).

We are going to Roseville tonight, hopefully some Sioux fans will be there too. Bloomington tomorrow maybe.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Bloomington it is. We'll be starting "pregame" about 5:30 Saturday night.
Any odds on the internet broadcast working for tonight's game?
