  1. Our barn is always full, even when we're at our lowest point. Not something that could be said about UoM's this past season (or more). I think you're not giving the other fan bases a lot of credit. We'll just have to wait and see. What is your prediction for Big Ten attendance? Granted, they'll likely have more televised games than the new conference but do you really think the arena's will have as many fans in attendance as the new conference will? I don't. And, how long before the games will no longer be telecast due to lack of interest?
  2. We already do. I've been to every Frozen Four since Columbus and there is no lack of Fighting Sioux fans at those games. We also stay and watch the rest of the tourney when we haven't advanced at the F5. Keep your props, we know we're good.
  3. We travel to AK, to the NE, to CO, etc. already what's another road trip to us? Listen to any broadcast where the Sioux are playing out of town and you'll hear the amazement in the voice of the announcer when he describes the sea of green and white in the stands. We fans will be ok! Oh, and it's Ohio Miami, not Miami. I will definitely miss the Final Five, can't deny that at all. But, I look forward to a new Final ?? series.
  4. Traveling to Ohio, and, possibly, Western Michigan or Indiana is likely to cost about the same or only a bit more than traveling to Anchorage, Houghton, Mankato and Madision. I also see more revenue coming from those games than Anchorage and Houghton. The big losers here will be the communities who will no longer have the travelingest fans in college hockey spending big bucks there. MN and WI/UND series were big money makers for all our programs but don't forget, they broke up with us. Difference here, we're not wallowing in 'oh poor me, now what am I going to do' shock, we have a new 'relationship'.
  5. Why is that any different than laying blame for the supposed demise of smaller hockey programs on the new conference and UND? The Big Ten isn't so arrogant to think that all other programs/conferences would remain stagnant while they grow in order to fill their coffers, is it?
  6. Yeah, once you've taken your teeth out of lay-away, they do belong to you and don't you let anyone tell you otherwise!!
  7. I find it amusing to read Goofy fans proposing what is essentially a boycott of the new conference. Weren't these the same buffoons who, after the BTHC was announced, said the Goofs should only schedule MN OOC games? The way they keep talking out of both sides of their mouths', it's a wonder they can keep their teeth from falling out!
  8. I'll definitely remember that!
  9. This is truly an exciting change for hockey! Great hockey will continue in the new conference. Probably because I am a true, bleeding green and white homer, but I see Big Ten hockey as a big yawn for the next few years.
  10. Good grief, what were we suppose to do when the BTH conference was started; for capital gain most likely? Sit back on our laurels and watch the world roll on without us? I have no problem agreeing money was a very likely factor in this move. Hockey is a very expensive program to have and it would be ridiculous to say money didn't enter into the equation. We were likely to lose revenue without the Goofs (no matter that they have sucked big time the last five years) and the Badgers. We have to look our for ourselves because, sure as heck, no one else is going to do it.
  11. I do, too. They have proven themselves to be a very good program in their short career. I hope it doesn't sour our relationship and we can still add them to our schedule.
  12. That trip christened you a 'travelin' Sioux fan'!!!
  13. Hey, thanks JFR!! I've been to Fenway but don't remember a hockey arena near there...but then again I wasn't looking for one!
  14. No, although it sure looks like I am. I don't collect state stickers but I do try to 'acquire' a set of scrubs from every place I work, if they have them. I've been to a couple hockey games in Boston when the Sioux played an invitational there a few years ago. If I'm still in the area, I'll go watch the Harvard game.
  15. I'll be working in Massachusetts this fall and am trying to put together a travel itinerary. Any dates will be appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Nice paycheck, indeed! The fans are pretty split on whether he should have gotten that much. As a former Fighting Sioux, I'm surprised he didn't get more.
  17. http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/New-York-Rangers-Derek-Boogaard-cause-of-death-052011/?GT1=39002 In your defense, the above article does state that Boogaard struggled with pain and addiction according to a statement released by his family.
  18. Ira, interesting info on the Mayo brothers. A patient told me this morning an interesting fact about WW Mayo. His brother in law is a Mayo physician. The brother in law told my patient that the bodies of the 38 Indians hung in Mankato in the late 1800s were 'stolen' by one of the Mayo brothers and used for research. In addition, some of the bodies/parts were put on display. Sort of puts a shadow upon the Mayo history.
  19. Who does the AG 'serve', the SBoHE or the Legislature? Asking because I really don't know.
  20. He is the State's Attorney General, so is it not appropriate for the lawmakers to turn to him for an opinion on the constitutionality of the Sioux nickname law? The way he blindsided us agreeing to the NC$$'s 'settlement', I certainly want to know where he stands.
  21. I can't express my opinion? Whatever.....
