  1. You seem to bring up the 'left' and the 'left media' quite often in discussions as if proving or disproving something someone posted. I was not quoting nor did I mention any media statement yet you referenced them in response to one of my posts. I post MY opinions based on information or lack of information I glean from many different sources. I don't reference the right or the left yet it seems to me, and, maybe I'm wrong, you do.
  2. I, too agree, with Fetch. I don't like radical Muslims that hate the US. I don't agree with your statement, 'If this makes people take a different look at the Muslim community as a whole in this country...well so be it.' You said it, own it.
  3. Oxbow, your comment 'If this makes people take a different look at the Muslim community as a whole in this country...well so be it.' does smack of racism and does imply that the life of a Muslim is without value. You said it, I didn't. Many groups say exactly the same thing you posted except they substitute 'Muslim' for whoever or whatever group they happen to hate and they have all sorts of valid to them reasons for their hatred. MafiaMan, if your opinions are so driven by the media left and right, it's time, my friend, to branch out.
  4. You must be privy to information not yet known to the general public. Not saying it's not because it certainly could be that or it could be two brothers who hate American because of some bizarre, twisted thinking that has nothing to do with being a Muslim. Yeah, that's what they say about us. Comments like this really puts zero value on life, regardless of whose it is. But, why stop with the Muslims. Those pesky Jews are costing us a pretty penny and lots of time and energy. What about China? We should forfeit our debt to them. Screw 'em, they're not Christian or American! What about all those Koreans that Americans adopted? We better send them back before that internal 'I support North Korea' chip kicks in. I know, let's put all Americans not of European descent on a boat back where they came from....oh, wait! What will we do with the Native Americans and Mexicans whose ancestors came from pre-annexed by Texas Mexico !!! I know!!! Put them all in concentration camps! Yeah, that's the ticket! Concentration camps!!! And that, my friends, is how we make America safe!
  5. Across America, religious and racial hatred is on a rampage now that we know these brothers are Muslims. If you don't see it or don't believe it, nothing I say or do is going to change that. If you think there isn't at least one person on this board who is among them, you're naive. My point in the article is to point out it's not only 'those people, those political refugees who hate America who we allow into our country(quote from a news commentator)' who are capable of these horrific, terroristic acts against innocents. I see a lot of correlation between McVeigh, Nichols and Fortier and what we know of these brothers. The information is readily available, if you don't believe me check it out. I have too much going on tonight to get it for you. Maybe, tomorrow.
  6. Before we round up all the Muslims in the country, put them in front of a wall and gun them down in the name of the US of A and Christianity, remember this.... Jumping to Conclusions in Oklahoma City? "Ibrahim Ahmad sat quietly behind an array of microphones, reluctant to talk to yet another crush of reporters about how for a single day the world thought he had blown up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Ahmad, a Jordanian American, had been traveling from his Oklahoma City home to Jordan on April 19, the day the 4,800-pound bomb ripped through the building, killing more than 160 people. Scooped up in the FBI's initial dragnet, he was questioned in Chicago, and then again in London, where British authorities grilled him for six hours. "When they said, 'You are under arrest in connection with the bombing,' I thought that was the end of the world for me," he told reporters." 7. Persons of interest. The FBI spokesman said the images were clear...not on my computer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=M80DXI932OE
  8. A ND state drug agent bought oxycontin in an area Walmart parking lot. $1200. for 12 pills!!!!
  9. Not exactly. Emergency departments are required to do a medical screening exam and, IF your medical condition is an emergency, they are required to treat you. The use of emergency departments is being abused because the majority do treat regardless of presenting complaints. A medical screening exam essentially is doing everything except diagnostic tests, referrals and prescriptions. There is a growing change in emergency care that even my little ED is looking into. Although the MSE takes time (and, essentially, money), some EDs have the providers do the MSE and if the condition is not an emergency, they refer the patient to the clinic. The patient can still be seen in the ED BUT they are required to pay a co-pay (I've seen quotes as high as $200.) before the care they receive extends beyond the MSE such as getting a prescription, x-rays, etc. Of course there is concern that a major problem can be missed but things are missed even after thousands of dollars are spent on diagnostic tests. The money that is lost because of the misuse of EDs runs into the millions! If having to pay a co-pay gives one pause before going to the ED instead of going to the clinic, I'm for it! The wait times in EDs can be decreased, those with true emergencies can be seen quicker and the money lost now can be spent on providing better health care to the community . Some ED patient quotes: I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow but I don't want to wait. I have had this condition for days/weeks/months and decided to get it checked today. My relative was coming in for **** so I decided to be seen for this minor whatever since I was here. My doctor put me on an antibiotic yesterday and I'm not any better. My child has a temperature of 100 and no other symptoms and, no, I did not give him/her anything for it. My period is two days late and I want to know if I'm pregnant. I have a toothache and need pain pills. No I did not call my dentist. I'm constipated. My husband stole/dog ate/I lost/ my pain pills and I need more. I fell at work a year ago and want to go on disability. So you, ER provider that I has never seen me, have to fill our these forms. I need a handicap sticker. Oh Lord, I can't go on. I feel I'm invoking their names and they're all going to show up en mass!!!
  10. Apology accepted. Pittsburgh was awesome! The F4 was loads of fun as usual. After the Boston bombing, I did think, that could have happened in Pittsburgh. I don't want to be afraid all the time but I think it's going to be awhile before I feel safe in any type of large gathering.
  11. Ah, the written word again is misinterpreted. I said 'Listen to MafiaMan and 207Sioux' because I agreed with your posts and wanted other persons to take a step back before rushing to judgement. I guess,I should have posted, 'Listen to MafiaMan and 207Sioux because what they posted makes sense.' I guess I have to stop referencing other posters because they may misinterpret an innocent remark and that could lead to, oh I don't know, a rush to judgement perhaps..... Geeze
  12. Listen to MafiaMan and 207Sioux! Before we start arresting everyone of Middle East descent and/or a Muslim, I have two words for you>> Timothy McVeigh. Maybe it was Ted Nugent! Didn't he make the statement last April that if President Obama was reelected that he would either be dead or in jail by April of this year. What did he mean by that? Maybe it was a disgruntled Boston Marathon runner or volunteer. Maybe it was someone of Korean descent or Kim Jung Un himself. Maybe we should hold judgement until the authorities find the a$$hole(s) who did this.
  13. The information came from the insurance commissioners report. Bonuses regardless of performance?!? The report said that premium payments funded nearly $15 million in employee bonuses that were almost assured regardless of performance, a $3.5 million investment in a hotel in Fargo and sales reward trips to resorts totaling $1.2 million. In one case, the audit found that $34,814 was spent for a party for a retiring vice president. "Health care premiums are for health care, they are not for expensive retirement parties, corporate jets, risky hotel investments or a compensation structure that rewards senior management regardless financial performance," Hamm said.
  14. Bonuses are not a common practice for the majority of us in the work force. The money paid for 'perks' could go a long way in helping the uninsured. I see people who have waited too long come in for health care because they couldn't afford preventive care or 'early' care. That results in care many times more expensive than preventative or early treatment. That $15M paid to a company for health care should have been better spent. So, when I read that a company spent $15M in bonus, I was incensed!!! I'm in the wrong business that's for sure. The article states' The report said that premium payments funded nearly $15 million in employee bonuses that were almost assured regardless of performance, a $3.5 million investment in a hotel in Fargo and sales reward trips to resorts totaling $1.2 million.'
  15. I see your point which is pretty much on target except for this "A trip to Hawaii isn't that great a bonus...$5000? Not a ton for an incentive for hard work. It isn't charity." I find the following obscene; 'Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota used premium payments to fund $15 million in employee bonuses, cover $35,000 for a retirement party and pay for other questionable expenses, according to a state audit released Tuesday.' http://www.huffingto...x_n_281282.html
  16. I heard some one comment about a 25 year old goalie. Hartzell's only 23! Geeze, I wish people would get their facts straight!
  17. The championship game had more than twice the number, 18000+, than the other two games had, combined. Total attendance 35,610 for all three games. I don't think the arena looked half empty at all during that game. I took some great pictures but don't have the know how to post them here.

I bet if you watched the tapes, those were not 'blind' passes. Those were passes to a guy who hadn't gotten there yet. I love watching him as well.
  19. Good analysis, Yzerman. That being said, hospitals have found ways to be quite profitable; both of Mayo's hospitals in Rochester are among those. Closer to home, Altru is quite proficient in finding ways to be profitable. One of the most recent methods was preventing another hospital from opening in the Grand Forks area. After telling a few lies, they finally 'fessed up. Altru would lose milllions of federal dollars if they ceased being the only game in town. Over the years they forced the closure of private clinics and the independant practice of specialists. By assuming the specailty services and outpatient services, (areas where the most profits can be made) in the area, they were able to increase their profits significantly. It's only been in the past few years that specialists have started independent clinics in the area again. Insurance companies manage to have high profits rates by increasing their rates, placing ceilings on how much they will pay out, charging higher deductibles, etc. Anyone remember BlueCross/BlueShield raising their rates significantly while crying about no profits? That same year they took their Fargo staff to Hawaii as their bonus.

I'm ok with compromise...split the difference. Good plan.
  21. Sorry if this has already been posted, Former Denver hockey coach Gwozdecky interested in Maine job http://bangordailyne...d-in-maine-job/
  22. Nope. They were surprised when I told them he wasn't one of the top four contenders.

As a non-expert, IMO Rocco is just two to three seconds faster than anyone else on the ice. The rest of the team just need to get two to three seconds quicker. There, problem solved. Hak can keep his job......for now.
  24. As a health care provider for longer than some of you have been around, I'm here to tell you that health care, regardless of place or size, has evolved from a service to a business. Don't be fooled by the rhetoric into thinking otherwise.
