  1. Not Target Field, but I did see this on twitter:

Interesting. I'm not particularly fond of outdoor hockey games as I think the novelty is wearing thin, but this could be fun.

Does it even get cold enough in Omaha to host an outdoor game? That's pretty far south if you ask me.

Average high is 38 it looks like in February

  2. I disagree....why should they pay him...he was not the contestant that was called.....let one of those millionaire hockey players pay it if they so choose....rules are rules

I thought I read somewhere that the parents said that no where on the entry slip did it say that the person who's name was called was the one that had necessarily to take the shot.

    Lots of gray area.

  3. I respectfully disagree with your comments .....

I would much rather win 2 titles in 3 trips versus 0 titles in 5 years.

These 5 trips to the frozen four in the last 7 years only proves that getting there frequently doesn't mean you will ever win a title.

Perhaps winning a national title once or twice every 10 years means more to me than just being in the frozen four more often.

I am not saying Hak isn't a good coach but this year was far and away the hardest early exit for me to swallow!

To the boldest part: Wouldn't everyone want what Blais did as compared to Hakstol? Getting there is half the battle now. Back then it only took 1 game to get to the Frozen 4. I feel the more times you do something in life, the more comfortable you get in those situations. And even when you get comfortable, it's still a crap shoot like we saw this year. Hak not getting it done, BC giving up 8 to CC, and UMD wining the title.

I'm not disagreeing that winning a title or two every 10 years would be nice as opposed to just participating in the Frozen 4. Reality is, college hockey has changed a lot in the last 10 years.

And I'm pretty sure the loss to Michigan was hard for everyone to swallow. I was just saying that we played pretty darn well and lost due to a hot goaltender and a bounce off the post. There have been plenty of worse losses in the Frozen 4 recently that I'd care to forget instead of this one.

  4. Not that I want to start the Fire Hak thread, but Dave and Co. have an atrocious 1-5 record in the Frozen Four. (Dean was 5-1 in the Frozen Four) I am not in favor of firing them for this, but at some point they need to figure things out. Our team had the most talent and should have won this thing. The comment prior to the Michigan game that sticks out in my mind was something like........we need to worry about ourselves more than anything. We will look into what Michigan does but need to be focused on our system more than anything.

That said college hockey is a crazy sport. Who know's, we could win it next year with a younger, less talented team.

Not that it means anything, but in 10 years Blais only got us to the Frozen 4 three times(winning 2), and Hakstol has gotten us there 5 out of 7. He's gotta get them over that big hump eventually. Getting there so frequently will only help IMO.

I wasn't even completely disheartened about the loss. We lost a game that we controlled for about 50 minutes or so. I felt a lot worse after the BC games. At least we controlled this one. This one was eerily reminder to the regional game we lost in Denver in 2001 or so.

  5. Like I said about the Lessard stuff, your own fan drops the bomb again of "maybe he should have gotten swim lessons." The best swimmers in the world have a tough time in a lake when there is a current. Honestly.

I just hope you see the hypocrisy in your posts about Lessard and Kristo.

  6. found it. looks like it was yesterday. probably long gone by now, but thanks alot for the heads up. much appreciated.

You can also use this website:Craiglook

You can search a specific area on craigslist or the entire country for Frozen 4 tickets without having to know the specific city they are posted in. It pulls all the results to 1 page for simplicity. That's where I found a lot for sale.

I searched either "Frozen 4" or "Frozen Four".

    Hope that helps.

  7. I've got Duluth over Union, Notre Dame over Merrimack, and Omaha over Michigan for the first games this weekend. Then for the second games, I have Duluth over Yale. I think Duluth is good team in a slump and will come back to show how good they are.

With Duluth dropping to a #3 seed after losing to Bemidji St., they don't get to ever match up their top line with who they want. To me, that's a big deal for a team that relies so heavily on their top line for scoring. I picked them to get out of their region, only because of the teams they would have to beat is favorable to them.

  8. Looking at booking a room soon and just wondering what hotel everyone is staying at?

    Thanks

I know a lot of people are staying at the Days Inn-Lambeau Field because of the proximity to everything, but I chose to stay at the Clarion. It's a couple miles away, but when I booked on Sunday, the Days Inn was $40 more per night.

  9. I'm still not convinced that BC is going to get out of that West regional. Having played CC last weekend, we all know how good CC's top line is and how good their goaltender is. Anything can happen in a one-and-done.

Assuming they get through that game, they get to play Omaha or Michigan. Ouch.

If they make it through that regional, they will have deservedly earned it.

  10. So, I just got the okay to order tickets.

I pulled tickets at the Resch Center website, but the only delivery options are UPS ground or air. I gotta think that's cutting it too close at this point.

I called their service center and they said they know about the problem and will call should be one of the options. They're trying to fix it and told me to try again in 4 hours. ARG! You guys think I have to worry about this selling out during these 4 hours?

I was thinking the same thing. They said the tickets come from Green Bay via UPS, if it can't get to MPLS or Duluth by Friday, UPS is in trouble.

  11. I am going for the following teams tonight:

Western Michigan (a Win will keep New Hampshire at 12(in the 3 seed band) and not 13th(in the 4 seed band).

Boston College (strictly defensive to keep Merrimack from becoming a #1 in case New Hampshire ends up at 13)

and of course - North Dakota!!

The rest I don't care about...RPI/Cornell....who cares who we play out of those two.

As long as Miami beats Western Michigan tonight, they should be the #4 overall seed. They would get sent out east and UND and BC would host the western regional I believe.

  12. I think what he is saying is that if BOTH Boston College AND Merrimack get #1 seeds we'll get sent out east if UNH is a #4 seed.

I'm hoping that UNH is a #4 seed, and Denver, Michigan or Miami get the fourth #1 seed. That would force BC to come out West (most likely St. Louis) and play CC or UNO.

As far as I can tell, as long as Miami wins, they will be the last #1 seed. Doesn't matter what BC and Merrimack do tonight. Even if Merrimack beats BC, I still have Miami ahead of them based on RPI.

  13. Really thought the Sioux outplayed CC, generated a lot of good chances and the Sioux looked to have a lot of jump tonight. The refs should be embarrased over some of the calls tonight too, Nelson really got hosed on that major call and I use to like Guentzel as a player, but not after that dive. :glare: Now to take down the old dasher dancer :D

What was Nelson doing on that play anyway? There was no point for him to cross-check the guy in the first place. Use the body! We were on the PP for gosh sakes.

Watching it live, I felt it was a 5 minute major. Having seen the replay over and over and how fast the CC guy popped back up, I would have given Nelson a 2 minute minor. I would have argued the call about as much as Hakstol did.

  14. I agree. Once we hit the regionals the Fourth line doesn't need to play much. With all of the TV timeouts you don't need 4 lines. The idea of rolling four lines doesn't work unelss the game is full of penalties and you need to give your top line players a break. I say we roll four lines at the Final Five to try to keep everyone fresh but once we hit the regionals we go to to three lines using Lammy on the penalty kill and in other strategic spots. Of course this is in the hope that Kristo can come back and play like he did before he got hurt.

I keep hearing about all the TV timeouts and how we don't need to roll 4 lines.

What's the TV timeout situation in the regionals/frozen four? Is it any different than what the league does?

I say roll 4 lines. We're going to be a #1 seed, so we can match-up wherever we need to on the ice if we have to. We've been doing that all year, why change now?
