I wouldn't have expected this from you. Two Senior D-men are out, they are down a forward playing at 5,000 ft. with pathetic officiating against the number one team. They scored 7 goals on a future NHL goaltender and got a split. Think about it.
When it comes to hockey the World Arena staff and it's fans are probably the most amateur in the entire WCHA. When the opposition scores the play is announced in a very quiet and muffled voice that no one can understand. The fans know very little about hockey and the poor saps don't even realize that they are watching substandard officiating that doesn't matchup up to the quality of the talent that is on the ice. I am speaking from experience, seven years of living in the Springs and attending all Sioux visits.
The issue is that Genoway was hit from behind late in last nights game and there was no call from Don Adams. Zajac and Hextall had words with CC players at the end of the game so it could spill over tonight. It appeared that Chay might have a shoulder injury but nothing official.
Brad's Blog states that the Sioux lineup won't be finalized until after the warm-ups. He also states that Fienhage is here which I hope means he travelled to C Springs today.
Update it is official and here is the lineup:
16 Ryan Duncan--29 Chris VandeVelde--26 Brett Hextall
10 Andrew Kozek--11 Darcy Zajac--20 Matt Watkins
17 Jason Gregoire--19 Evan Trupp--21 Matt Frattin
15 Brent Davidson--8 Ryan Martens--18 David Toews
6 Zach Jones--25 Jake Marto
3 Derrick LaPoint--4 Corey Fienhage
24 Ben Blood--14 Brad Miller
31 Brad Eidsness
30 Aaron Walski
Jones okay, Genoway and Lamoureux out. Fienhage and Frattin in.
If the NCAA were indeed calling the shots with respect to WCHA officiating I would like to think that Don Adams would have been canned a long time ago. Sadly someone could loose their life or ability to walk before McClown does anything. Let's see what really was in or out of his hands when a lawsuit arises for incompetent officiating.
This weekend wasn't just about pressure on a rookie goalie, it was also pressure on two rookie D-men and it showed. I for one hope that Finley can come back soon because the Sioux will need him next weekend.
