  1. 9-6 on fouls. I would like to see Hooker get more aggressive.
  2. Pretty solid first half. We are shooting 44% to their 30%. We are 40% on threes while they are 17%. Neither team can hit a free throw. Turnovers are even. We need to rebound better, our guys are lazy there as always. At one point we gave up 3 consecutive offensive rebounds......
  3. Haven't seen Antwi..... UND back up by 3
  4. Marquette takes lead with an 11-1 run.
  5. Eagles on a run. 20-18 Sioux with 4:30 left
  6. Shanks is playing. We are up 4-3 at 1st media break
  7. Agree hasn't been great in this game. This is the 4th time I've watched them this year, overall I think he's looked good the little bit I have paid attention.
  8. He looks pretty damn good to me....
  9. Crockett is great. So is their oline.....
  10. We are shooting under 3O%. Against Dickinson. Pretty slow start. Salmonson is playing. Shanks is not...
  11. Bubba said after he wrapped up his first recruiting class last year that playing in the Big Sky turned out to be one of the biggest draws to many of the players that signed here.
  12. I just drove by today. I would say the roof is 60-65% on. The North endwall is on and both sidewalls are about 50%. Looks like they made good progress the last week or so with the mild weather.
  13. I know that teams often report player height and weight in a "liberal" manner, but I notice that Shanks is listed on the UND roster at 230 pounds, 5 pounds lighter than he was on his Utah St. roster. Wilmer was listed at 236 as a senior. It would be major boon to this team the rest of the year if Shanks is anywhere near as serviceable as Wilmer was, just defensively.
  14. There is attendance data going back to 1992 for the men in the wiki. Obviously the crowds were great in the early 90's when UND was getting to the Elite Eight during those years. Personally, I don't think averaging 2,500 a game in today's age for DI basketball in Grand Forks would be out of the realm of possibilities. Assuming of course there is a consistent and quality product on the court. I wouldn't expect a big crowd for Dickinson on Friday no matter what. I'm guessing losing the two previous games (on television to boot) by a combined 65 points won't do much for the game day walk up either.
  15. I suppose if you believe that 1,500 people came for the women's game, left when it was over, and a different 1,500 came for the men's game 20 minutes later. I guess I think it is probably most of the same fans that attend the women's and men's games plus or minus 300-500 that are exclusive to one or the other. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know. What I do know is that Grand Forks loves a winner. In the case of football they set the attendance record in 2008 coming off of a 10 year stretch of unprecedented success for the program. Fast forward 6 years and attendance is down 30% after suffering through years of abysmal play. Men's basketball hasn't won a conference title since 1995. That's a long time considering where this program once was at.
  16. Cratter is the one that compared Jones to Hakstol, not me. I don't think it is too far fetched to think that the Sioux Center could be full every night if there was a quality product on the floor every season. It only holds 3,000 people. We used to draw that back in the early 2000's.........
  17. What is Hakstol's record before tournament play? What is Hakstol's non-conference record? Are fans lining up in droves to see the product that Jones puts on the floor like they do to see the product that Hakstol puts on the ice?
  18. Not quite sure why your standards are so low for North Dakota basketball, buy you need to raise them. It shouldn't be viewed as an amazing accomplishment that UND has been a top 3 team in the Big Sky conference. I am very pleased with how North Dakota has performed thus far in the Big Sky, they SHOULD be a top 3 team. Every year. The Big Sky is not the Big Ten or even the Missouri Valley. It is a low major conference with just a handful of "peer" schools to UND that that we should be in contention for conference titles for in every sport, every year. Jones is the lowest paid coach in the Big Sky because that is what he has earned. If he wants a raise he should start taking the entire season seriously rather than just the second half of it. I'm not sure that I care for the fact that he is using the 1st half of the season as a fundraising campaign to take a European vacation next summer. This is his 9th season here. He has the 4th worst winning percentage in the history of the program. We should all be past the "lets give him another year to show what he can do" phase. We know what he is going to do. He's going to win 47% of his games and maybe finish the season on a hot streak.
  19. I didn't say it can't be done or that we should give up or that we can't be successful, rather I was pointing out why there are more dollars available in Fargo. You are right, winning does draw fans. Just look at attendance numbers at the Alerus from 2001-2007 vs 2008-2014. And the extra revenue generated from increased attendance would go a long ways toward sustaining and improving revenue.
