  1. Thanks, but I'll have to decline. One of my biggest pet peeves is bloggers that only make a post about once a month, and I know that is how my blog would be if I had one. Wayne Nelson and I would have a nasty war trying to see who could go the longest between posts. I think that would be a great idea. What would be even better is if there were a couple or so UND blogs devoted to something other than hockey. Don't get me wrong, I love hockey but comparatively there is so little info put out there about the other sports. If they were up to it, I'd nominate The Walrus and/or UND92,96 to do a basketball blog. Iramurphy would do a great job with a football blog I'm sure.
  2. Crickets chirping.................. The silence is deafening...................... So, nothing then?
  3. During one of the Fighting Sioux Coaches Shows towards the end of this season, I even heard Roebuck state that there is a good chance that the Betty in a few years will be only a volleyball facility and basketball practice facility.
  4. Where does Wisconsin play basketball again?
  5. Do you have a specific example of why he has done a poor job?
  6. He's not from North Dakota, therefore he can't be a genius.
  7. Tom Buning has done an excellent job leading this university's athletic department so far.
  8. Has "our" criteria failed us yet?
  9. I thought he was comparing NDSU today with UND 5 years ago.
  10. According to the Equity in Athletics site, NDSU's athletic budget in 2005-06 was $8.8 Million. According to NDSU's Carr Report, their budget in 2002 was $5.1 Million. UND's 2005-06 budget per the "Equity" site was $10.1 Million.
  11. So if someone with no ties to ND simply knows people with ties to ND that is O.K.? Like I said, my feeling is that I trust the administration of UND to hire the people that will do what's best for UND and help the university succeed. See Blais, Thomas, Glas, Fitch, etc. If that person came from UND or grew up in ND, that's icing on the cake. Someone who coaches at the University of North Dakota, simply put is a North Dakota coach and has ties to all of us who support the University.
  12. Who decides what to do with the Fargodome's money? Has it become a living, breathing entity?
  13. And despite not having any UND/North Dakota ties (except McDermott), I wouldn't mind having any one of those guys you mentioned leading our various athletic programs. As a devoted Sioux fan, once a coach is hired by UND, for me there begins the most important part of his "North Dakota" ties. See Blais, Thomas, Glas, Fitch. Walrus, I know that you (like me) are one of the few members of this board that particularly follows basketball. Were you so upset when Rich Glas was hired? He came from Minnesota, Hawaii, Arizona..............not North Dakota. I'd say he did alright.
  14. Have to double, or may double. The headline answers that question. However that sounds about right. I believe NDSU's budget is now nearly apporoaching double of what it was when they announced there move in 2002. And they still have to put all that money into the BSA unless they can convince the city to add onto the Fargodome. I think it would be great if UND's athletic budget even approaches 18 million in the next 5 years. I did my part in those two areas earlier this week, and I know of alot of UND fans who intend to do the same.
  15. The best candidates don't always have UND/North Dakota ties. See Dean Blais, Roger Thomas, Rich Glas, Bill Fitch, etc. for examples. I would hope that whenever the A.D. makes a coaching hire in any sport that he does it because he feels that the potential coach is the best qualified candidate for the job regardless of where he/she grew up or went to college. If a potential coach has a solid reputation and proven track record of success in that sport at or near whatever level UND is competing at, he/she will have my support. Both would be excellent choices. You are correct.
  16. Are we talking about bikini-style mud-wrestling here, or WWF style ala Miss Elizabeth, Sable, Torrey, etc.? Those are the only two types of women's wrestling right?
  17. I hope Lee stays for another year, but in all honesty I would be relatively indifferent if he decided to leave. I don't think he is the reason behind every single loss this season, but I do feel that as a whole his college career so far has been a bit disappointing.
  18. North Dakota team wins USA Hockey championship -GF Herald
  19. Herald article on spring ball. UND: Names change, but results don't Is Marcus Tibesar related to Tim Tibesar?
  20. I agree, and thanks for the condolences.
  21. Odds are he will be gone by the middle of the week. But let's not forget that he shocked us all when he came back for his sophomore year. In theory, it could happen again. Let's also remember that he is still also a year younger than most college sophomores. On the other hand, I am a Blackhawks fan........
