  1. you give us something to throw expect it to end up on the ice. :( It did get a little annoying especially when people get throwing them right before and right after the anthem. Though, it was a little funny when they were chucking them at the Badger players. I will say this though, I want to pin a medal on whoever hit Don Adam in the neck after the game with one of them.

Wow, what a bunch of class. I wish we could fill the arena with fans like this.

  2. Wisconsin fans celebrate on a goal that never occurred. Still 1-0, BC.

Nice shot of the student flipping the bird to the refs after the no goal call. Not a good thing to see from a NC$$ model institution. :silly:

    Go Sioux!!!!!

  3. There was no evidence that the university excluded the plaintiffs from any activities or that the Chief's performances were aimed at them personally, Hoffman wrote. He said that merely finding the Chief's "gestures or dress ... offensive" wasn't sufficient to support a lawsuit.

I thought everyone was born with the right not to be offended. :D

    Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Your not accusing me of being Graham Kracker are you?

If you are even comparing me to him I have been misunderstood. If you knew me you would be surprised that I am defending those that oppose UND using the name. I am a huge Sioux hockey fan and I have spent more than half my life yelling LET'S GO SIOUX and Home of the SIOUX at the end of the national anthem. I have three Sioux hockey Jerseys and 5 Sioux hockey hats, a replica of the Ralph, a lighted SIOUX goalie mask hanging on my wall, and all kinds of other Sioux stuff. I have a mini-shrine in my office at home and my car wreaks of FIGHTING SIOUX pride that I have wanted to show off in the Chicago area and everywhere else! My friends in Chicago know me as a SIOUX HOCKEY FAN!

But, as I have listened to the debate over the Sioux name for most my life I have started to wonder if UND really should have the name and logo. Why? Because I haven't seen enough vocal or written support for the name from the Sioux. Plus, I have heard the way people talk about those that oppose UND using the name and the remarks usually aren't very nice. They aren't the kind of remarks that support the position that UND honors the Sioux, they are usually pretty demeaning remarks about the Sioux people. In my opinion, I don't think very many people in GF really, deep down, honor the Sioux?

Like I said before, I think most people that want to keep the name want to preserve the history and traditions and they don't want the people that oppose the name to "win" the debate. I don't want to see the name and traditions go either and have a hard time thinking about what it would be like if UND doesn't have the name anymore. If UND is able to win in court against the NCAA, which will probably only happen if UND gets more support from the Sioux nation, I would be happy if UND kept the name. The one thing that really bothers me about this scenario though is UND will be putting a lot of control in the hands of the NCAA and the Sioux nation.

If we changed the name, I think the power and control would be back in the hands of UND where it belongs.

Why would the support of the Sioux nation have anything to do with if we win in court or not?

If you want the power back in the hands of UND you do not cave to the NC$$. To get the power back you beat the NC$$ in court by proving they over stepped their authority in making the rule and then also show they have applied it inconsistently.

    Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. What about keeping the name even if we are subject to restrictions? It would be worth it, at least for me, to not host playoff games so we could keep our name and tradition.

Am I the only one who won't consider changing the name?

I won't consider changing the name either airmail but the restrictions that would be imposed would not hurt me, they would be a burden that the athletes would carry by themselves. I don't think that is fair and who knows how that would effect recruiting.

I am in the no name camp. If UND loses all battles on keeping the name we will be required to quit using the name Sioux, not change it. I say we go without one and let the fans keep the tradition going. Keep wearing the jerseys, yelling Sioux at the end of the anthem, yell Sioux every time the announcers say North Dakota like for penalties and goals and intros. Keep the cheer let's go Sioux and so on..

    Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I second that.

    I'll third it!

What is really impressive about this is that it was a vote of the members of the tribe that came out 75% in favor of the name. It wasn't just the leaders saying go ahead and use the name but an actual tribal membership vote that said it. I still would have liked a court of law to say we had the right to use the name but I'll take it.

    GO Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I can't agree with that. Yes, the lawyers will get rich. But if UND walks away with the legally established right to use the Fighting Sioux logo and nickname, then it wins and the NCAA loses.

In some ways, I'd find that outcome preferable to an NCAA policy waiver.

I have always felt that a court date is a must. A NC$$ waiver due to tribal support is just placing the decision of our name in the hands of Tribal leadership. Their happy, we keep the name. Their not happy, this whole thing starts again. I say we follow through with the legal action and like PCM said establish the right to use the Fighting Sioux logo.

    Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
