  1. if someone cannot text and drive safely, they probably shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place. I text and drive from time to time. I don't do it in bumper to bumper traffic. I don't do it as I pass through unmarked intersections. I absolutely don't do so with kids in the car.If i am on I-29 with nobody around, then i am fine with deterring my eves for a couple seconds. The one thing that the law has changed is that when I'm texting at the stoplight, I am looking around to see who is watching, hopefully not an officer...

How noble of you. How about if there are cars around you with kids in them? Do you stop texting then or is just the kids in your car you are worried about?

  2. Any info on why Michael Parks has not played in the last few games for Cedar Rapids?? Is he hurt, injured, or are they just playing new players to make some final cuts?

Read on the Riders board that he got a concussion. No idea if it is true or not.

  3. Im not saying that you have to take face value, and if someone knows your gonna be gone and offers you $100, $200, $500 for your tickets then sure take it. What I am saying is that posting your tickets online for $1000 when you can be at the game is ridiculous. If you have tickets and plan to go to the game, then go, if you have tickets and arent gonna be there, don't be an greedy A$$hole, sell them to a Sioux fan for a resonable price.

Who determines if it is a reasonable price. Looks like $100, $200, or $500 is ok with you but $1000 is too much? How about $750 or $999. Or, I do with my tickets what I want and you do with your tickets what you want. Then you can jump on a discussion board and tell every one how much better of a fan you are. :silly:

  4. I believe it is the 17U team that is playing in the USHL, as it is an upgrade from the NAHL. It makes more sense for a team of 16-17 year olds to play in the USHL, since the NAHL is a tier 2 league of 19-20-21 year olds. The 18U team is still playing the d1 and international schedule with select dates of USHL games.

This is from the USHL site

The USNTDP, USA Hockey's Ann Arbor-based program of 46 select 17 and 18-year-olds, will field "Team USA" with a varying roster based upon the program's international and collegiate schedule.

I took that to mean that one of the two teams or a combination of players from both teams will play the USHL games. It sounded like it could be a different team of players every time you see them in the USHL.

  5. Listening to Grant Shaft on KNOX Radio.

Q: Is UND guaranteed into Summit?

A: No. No quid pro quo.

A: Claims Summit has talked with SCSU about "campus disruptions" when UND comes to town (sidebar: Allow me to puke here)

Didn't most of this start with SCSU's former prez going to the NC$$ to get Indian names banned? I'm sure SCSU made it sound like there were near riots on campus rather than the actual 2 or 3 protesters.

  6. And you should stop with the "duckies and bunnies" preaching from the pulpit. There is nothing unclassy about constructive criticism of your team's performance. It goes with the territory when you put on that Fighting Sioux jersey. The players accept that. The coaches accept that. It's time you accept that.

No one on here is going to stop being a fan of the program over any loss or bad performance. I'll be back at The Ralph next year like always. And we'll have a darn good team with the young talent we have coming back.

    End Rant.

    constructive? Really?

  7. I'd say it's a tie. I hate the gaephers...they suck! However...the Pioneers are a close second. 3 of the banners in their rafters could have been ours.

Great game tonight by the Sioux! A repeat performance tomorrow night will serve notice to Cornell, BU, and Notre Dame.

Let's see a stick salute tomorrow night!!! ???

(Bonus points to the person who can tell me what Hextall whispers in the corner...) :D

I never played the game so could someone explain to me just what Hextall is doing to get the other teams so crazy. He isn't getting alot of penalties so it isn't illegal whatever it is. Do other teams players go crazy just from someone talking/chirping to them?

  8. Not sure if this is posted elsewhere.

On Tim and Swyg on KFAN this morning, Malone and Martens were on. Tim discussed the weekend, and one topic was the Jones incident. Here is what the players said, and I am paraphrasing:

Trupp was butt ended by Lucia. They said of all people, Trupper wouldn't lay on the ice and fake it, as he crawled off with a broken leg and bad shoulder already in his UND career. He is a tough kid.

They said Lucia agreed to a fight at or around the faceoff, and when Jonesy dropped em, he skated away. They said Jonesy wasn't in his rage blackout stage until he saw Lucia skating away. (Malone added that if he saw Jonesy wanting to fight, he'd run away and tip the net over himself for protection) :silly:

One of the players mentioned he had heard what Hill said about it being classless, Tim and the players all agreed that when Lucia agreed to fight and then skated away was classless in the sport of hockey, inferring that you have to respect the "code".

    Very interesting stuff.

    Now that is funny!!!!

  9. 1) Part of the issue to might be the fact that a very, very small percentage of the US actually cares about hockey (I wish it was more). The entire country of Canada cares about hockey. The best athletes in Canada almost automatically play hockey. The same can't be said for the US. Criticizing the US hockey program is the same as the US criticizing Canada for their football or basketball program. Yeah those programs aren't any good in Canada, but it is because by and large the majority of the people don't care about them.

    2) Regarding your statement about Americans sense of entitlement being disgusting to many Canadians. Last I checked, the US was not the country that felt "entitled" to a socialistic national health care program. Most Americans have to prove their "merit" and go out and get a job that provides such benefits.

    3) If Canada is so great, why are most of the NHL teams in the US?

And a even smaller percentage of that pecentage cares about this tournament. (me included)
