  1. This season, like the previous three, shows the character and quality of student-athletes a person like Coach Lennon and school like UND attract. The senior class is a great example of team effort and players that give everything. In the passing contact I have had with many of the players I have never seen an "attitude" that can come with winning.
  2. I agree that Lennon is a great coach and deserves respect. That does not mean some decisions can't be questioned, no coach is perfect. I am not second guessing, I was there and completly in favor of going for it, not with a fake punt, line up and pound it. Playing a team like Pitt you have to do something special.
  3. The interesting thing is that once in awhile, Lennon throws caution to the wind and does something totally against his conservative nature. The primary example was going for 2 and the win at SDSU in 2003. I believe he's also on record as saying he would have done the same thing in the 2003 title game had UND managed to put one in the endzone at the end of the game. I wouldn't have gone for it in this situation against a team like Grand Valley who everybody knew had an outstanding defense, but against Pitt St., I felt that the UND o-line had a distinct advantage over their d-line. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  4. I have been to all the games in the Alerus also, there had to be many more fans than the 8200 they listed (10,000 seems about right). There were more fans than I expected and it was in the top 3-4 for noise. I was surprised at how few GVSU fans were there, I know they usually travel well, but there didn't seem to be more than 200 yesterday. We are looking forward to the Jungle!
  5. If, would-a, should-a, injuries are part of the game, having depth is a big part of what takes teams to the top, you don't hear the Mich Tech coach give an excuse. In a perfect world no one would ever get hurt, everyone would play to there full potential, and field conditions would be perfect.
  6. There is a section in the NCAA Football Championships Handbook about tickets. It sets the rules for how many tickets are reserved for visiting fans and where they will be located.
  7. Overall it doesn't matter if it is on TV or not, if you live within 250 miles of GF and won't go to see this game live, you must not be much of a football fan let alone a Sioux fan. This is as close to Sioux-Bison as we are going to see for a while. If you would rather sit at home and watch on TV, when you could be there, you wouldn't add any spirit to the cause anyway. I feel sorry for those that live too far away to really enjoy it all.
  8. Agree on recievers, AGREE on play calling (this is a subject in itself). Belmore has played much better at home than on the road, I think the play calling has almost as much to do with his performance as he does, he needs to be encouraged to run when the opening is there and have at least one RB in the backfield at all times. If anyone feels another QB may do better I won't disagree, but I won't dump on Belmore, or any other player, the effort and desire are always there with this team.
  9. I agree, he has played in every game for the past 4 years and it is obvious our running game does better with the lead blocker. I think the NCC is including the FB position next year.
  10. Day was definetly the best back we faced this year, speed and power. Birkel was tough, but Day has, as they say, all the tools. They are all JR's, next year should be good in the NCC.
  11. Amen to all remarks, this is the last home game for players that played in 2001 and helped bring UND the National Championship. This is also a game for the underclassmen to show where next year will be headed. I am an avid hunter but no way would I miss this game. Hunt in the morning, hunt in the evening, but Sioux in the afternoon!

    UND vs. UNO

QB play is always a factor, but it is hard to have consistency when there is someone new behind center. We can't look at one half or even one game and decide how good or bad a QB is. Everyone should improve with playing time, but now we need someone to make some plays. The scheme is the most inconsistent part of our offense, I know you want to "keep em guessing", but it seems that once something works we often don't go back to it. The 2back running game worked for a TD in the 3rd quarter at SCSU, we never used it again. At UNO we ran a one back offense the whole 2nd half, they used a 4-4-3 def with good LB's that filled the holes with no leed blocker to move them and no downfield passing threat to keep them back. Why do we need 4 WR's before we feel we can throw?

    UND vs. UNO

I agree with Fan4life, the line did a good job with protection, they have had some growing pains but have played well lately. We did not use a leed blocker more than a couple of times in the second half, with the linebackers UNO has, they were quick to fill the holes. Bow could not hit a target (at least 6 passes to open WR's were in the turf), I was excited to see if he could go, but it was obvious early he is not 100%. The Defense was on the field way too long (38 min), the offense only ran 54 plays vs UNO's 83. We did not adjust to Denney who was the primary reciever whenever he was on the field and was thrown to almost every time. He was tough for one D-back to cover. What to do about QB? How is Belmore's health? Manke looked good at times rough at others, his picks were bad throws, but he did not get a chance to run the real offense in the second half of the Mankato game. The play book was opened up and we were 2nd or 3rd and long every series and did not get him the real game time he needs.
